- (Part 1 of 2) We finally got the chance to take a fruit hunting trip down to the Florida Keys & are still floating on cloud nine from all the incredible places & tropical fruits we were able to explore. This first stop at Beth Kaminstein's private estate was one of the most memorable & awe-inspiring locations we have ever been. Between the cool history of the property, to the architecture, to the massive fruiting trees - this beachfront home & artist studio was indeed a big ol' X on the treasure map.
Beth was one of the coolest people we've had the pleasure of meeting & we are so thankful that she shared her fruits & stories with us, so we can share it all with you. We have a little regret over not filming her artist (pottery) space, so if you are interested in seeing her work - you can find it on her website/gallery: kaminsteinclay...
Up until this visit, we were a little doubtful of the hype surrounding the Guanabana/Soursop fruit. All that we really knew about this tree was more in line with the medicinal nature of the cancer-fighting leaves. But, after hearing from multiple people who claimed that the flavor of this fruit surpassed many other tropical fruits - we were doubtful. That is... until we got to try it for the first time! The complexity of flavors completely blew our minds & we are now in the lifelong Guanabana fan club too!
Stick around for tomorrow's other half, where we get to visit the other fruits at her homesite, talk about rain collection, the history & the smart design of this one-of-a-kind property & home. This might be our best drone footage to date, too!
What an inspiring way to live! Thank you for your hospitality, Beth! (Plus, a big thank you to Erica Klopf for the introduction!)

I love this fruit. In Somalia we used to make them juice and sweets in Somalia we call them, anuuni, and at my grandmother farm we have this fruit and pink guava side by side. The smell and test is unbelievable. And if you mixed guava and Anuuni together, and make them like fruit salad, it tests heaven in this World.
Soursop ice cream is really nice. I remember eating these right off the tree when I was a kid, that is if the insects and birds didn't get them first. The young leaves are good to make tea, it helps you sleep.
That sounds awesome!
I had this fruit in Puerto Rico in 1974. I loved it then, and I still do.
Grew up eating these in 🇯🇲 . I finally was able to have a backyard in Broward, FL where I planted one last June.
Amazing Soursop trees!!! I love soursop!
We call it GUABANO here in the Philippines my favorite fruit ever... Super yummy 😋 I literally can finish a whole fruit (1-2kilos) in one sitting.
Love your chanel I can watch it all day long :)
Love it when you guys go crazy with mangoes, jackfruits and bananas which are pretty abundant here... I hope your crew can visit Philippines next time... Definitely recommend to visit DAVAO Philippines you will love it.
Hey Riza! Definitely interested in a Philippines trip here one day🙏
WOW! Beth you are an inspiration!
Our Florida Garden Beth is the best! :)
Literally, my all time favorite fruit with maracuya and pomegranate coming in close. And mamey.
Oh man, make magic happen in your green house. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was born in key west and I grew soursop from seed the seeds came from cuba and they were huge
I’d love some seeds
Ah man I love that fruit. So sweet (wonder why it's called soursop), so refreshing, so tropical. I call it Guanabana. Thanks for the vid.
In Somalia we call this fruit Anuuni.
Hey Pete,
Totally cool, Florida #1 man. So hyped to see everything
growing in the greatest place we know.
Can hardly wait to join the club.
We watch all the videos at home as soon as they come out and
can’t wait for more. Thank you for what you do!
Just a note to let you know David the Good another lover of
Florida is going through some tuff times and could use a little love.
Jim Purdy thanks my friend! Glad to hear the positive feedback. I've recently been in contact with David, I'll reach back out.
I should have guessed that you would be already supporting
David. Saving Part 2 for family dinner watching tonight. Thank you
Yummm. I love that fruit
I have a neighbor with several trees she grew from seed. I know of a couple fruiting trees in Naples. So good!
yes seed growing very good in Vietnam.
This video was awesome. one of the best I have seen on You Tube. Do you think you could get this tree to fruit back home were you live. Thank you for making this video.
Jerry heath wow I appreciate the compliment! Anything is possible, we have one growing in the greenhouse. I think if we were willing to heat the greenhouse in the winter we could could fruit them.
Ohhh I can't wait to taste one! Thank you for sharing
Nancy Navene no problem! Good luck on your hunt.
Our soursop is about 12 feet tall now. I bought it at Fruitscapes on Pine Island and I’m getting the little yellow flowers all over it but no fruit yet. It is probably three years old I bet it was two years old when I purchased it. Can’t wait. My wife and I are looking for more acreage in South punta gorda or North Fort Myers now we want to grow more.
Awesome! That’s a great area to grow
We planted one here in Orlando Florida and it's doing well, it is small about 3 feet tall. So we still have a long way to go before we get fruit. Great video by the way. I enjoyed it.
Gary D thanks! We have one here in greenhouse, it defoliated last year but came back. I really hope it fruits one day.
I had 3 fruits last year on a 3 year old tree. 18 fruits this year. The tree is 15 feet tall. And I topped it last year taking 5 feet off . Watch fir birds. They love Guanabana
Loved this video and the wonder in your eyes - that is so great.
I love soursop... I'm eating it now while watching this video...
Yes! I got some from the seeds growing.
In the Philippines this is a all around fruit the country. I love it really ripe and blend it with fresh milk and half spoon of white sugar and put in a freezer in a pitcher. Give it like 30 mins and walla! The taste of freshness !
Delicious
Soursop, jackfruit, then mangosteen is my top three.
Mango, sugar apple, passion fruit is mine 😀
I grew up in the Dominican Republic and we had a guayaba and guanabana tree. We definitely did nothing to the trees at all and they produce fruit. Well, we did had chickens that run around so maybe the poop was some what of small fertilizer. But I love guanabana, it has being a long time since I had one.
We have a a sour soup tree that grew on a sandy soil. It is now fruiting since last year. But the fruit is dropping before it gets mature. Now it's fruits that we get is not that good. Though it looks mature but when we open it. Half and even more of the fruit is hard and not white colored but darker -brown to violet to black
Wow I wish I could buy that property
Me too!
Heaven on Earth!
Guanabana is one of my favorite all time fruits! There is nothing that can compare to it.
Jean OConnor I've been missing out.
I've had one of these in the ground for about 3 yrs now, and never gets fruit. My leaves get brown tips and yellow sporadically, with some kind of spider I can't seem to get rid of. If you have any tips on why its not budding or fruiting, please let me know! Thanks for the video. My tree is only about 8 ft and 3' wide. Maybe I'm not watering enough. What do you fertilize with?
Tropical cousin of the North American pawpaw. Both have anti-cancer properties.
I have one more year to go before I can claim that I am cancer free. They mention Robert Is Here. Robert is a fruit stand in The Redlands. He sell sour sop leaves for tea making. I make the tea several times a week .
This fruit has anti-cancer. I didn't know, maybe that's why in some places where people grow this fruit have less cancer patients, wow a lot of people in Africa don't know what they have. And, thanks to educate me for this fruit.
In Chile calls CHIRIMOYA.
A dessert calls chirimoya alegre (happy) with squeeze orange juice. Delicious !!
Hello! cherimoya is different than guanabana (Soursop) they’re related though. We can’t grow cherimoya in Florida because of the humidity.
Best fruit in the WORLD. Viva Annona!~ They lose some floral aroma when not fresh or after chilled. Dont get me wrong, the flavor is always TOP. This fruit is the best fruit in the world.
Talk about the ideal paradise.
Garry Cole I agree!
Mamoncillo, then guanabana is the best tasting fruit on earth IMHO.
please can i have some of dose soursop seeds
Hey ,the soursop u ate in the video was it completely sweet or mixed with sweet and sour. If it's completely sweet why it's called soursop. I have one tree and the fruit is sour and the flavour is fantastic.
How do I get part 2?😮
Awesome! I guess I need to move to Florida to experience all this wonderful stuff! My mom at 83 has lived in Florida for some 15 years (moved from Michigan and the agro cropping) and has not experienced the local fruits. I scolded her and told her how can you live in an area with so much abundance and not experience the great flavors. She is a snow bird and I have tried to teach her. She helps at a local food coop for the low income. She does not know what most of the food is or how to prepare it!!! More education is needed. My mom is in Arcadia, Florida!! To dumb to know how to prepare food that is given to them for FREE! Please help educate these folks!!!
I grow them from seeds. They grow easily. I have 2 varieties.
the method of food sharing is something i would be ok to try, but I have a son who is a mixture of sheldon cooper and Brick from ¨the middle¨ and he would rather starve for a day than partake , lol
I recently bought a Sea Island Salad bush and I know nothing about it even after googling it. I wonder if you know anything or can point me in the right direction.
Retired SeniorChief no I've never heard of it. I'd try to get the botanical name if possible.
can i order the fruit? how much and how do i order
I'm in the KEYS ON VACA.... WHERE IS THIS FRUIT?
This groove was in marathon, they got destroyed by the hurricane. While in the keys I would highly suggest visiting Lloyd’s tropical bike tour in key west and other side adventure park in big pine key. Enjoy!
i think whoever named the soursop was trying to keep all the soursops to themself! sounds more like sweet sop lol
Very true. The fresh fruit was delicious :)
ofcourse there would be.. god dammit lol (searches for sweetsop seeds) thanks for the intel, gold
Hope Beth's soursops survive Irma ok!
Hello.My mom has one tree on her yard....but I don't travel in 12 yrs.I need leaves to concoct a tea.....can u donate leaves?I'm in NYC..Thanks👍😘
I ve tried to grow a seedling in Turkey, now its germinated in 1 month.
Awesome! Good luck
Thanks .
They want neglect because they grow in ravines in the drier parts of rainforests in the tropics between a specific altitude range. The season is year round. This area is the cutoff for being able to winter without protection.
I live near yet this place is forbidden to me(l live in Cuba)l thought the keys were bare and arid,it proved wrong, l even understand that there are big, shady trees such as banyan. Soursops, custard apples and the whole family have proven to have anticancer properties. I hope l get to retire in the keys someday. All the best to you all and God bless America!!!
$10 a pound?? Hell no...In southern California asian store had it for $16 an lb...most expensive fruits...never had one in my life, can't afford to eat..😭😭😭😭
Lily Hau geez we are getting a real good deal! They are probably closer to $8 at the local markets.
It has a short shelf life. They dont grow them commercially as they do with oranges.
I m looking for someone who has a soursoap tree to help me to treat the cancer. I live in NC, but I can go to anywhere, if I can find one person who can help me.
Her trees were completely destroyed in the hurricane. I’ve also heard really good things about loquat trees being used the same way. I’m sorry we don’t grow any Soursop.
I can help you contact me at hanchardhopeton@gmail.com
Is she inebriated?
are there male or just female
i'm sorry, y didn't she just break it in half and give him, instead of fingering the fruit, i wouldn't have take it.
She got you eating out of her hands! Yuck 😝😝
Goo naba nah??? Lmao it's pronounced gwee ah bano.
🤷🏼♂️
Can’t watch! That lady is stoned, very annoying!
You guys must not be like that, sometimes people have to be on medication that causes this. She made a lot of sense to me.
