Best memories of FIghting against Chrome, and having battles with my friends for who could build the best AC and stay top gun for the week... god brings back some badass memories
This is now mandatory homework for all From fans after 12/8/22 I only got to play very little of one of these back in the day on someone else's console but I remember thinking it was very cool but had no idea what I was doing. Watching all of these AC4 feels like the best cinematic overall. I feel like I'm watching the equivalent of the original Demons' Souls cinematic but for AC and it sucks me in just as much (and in the case of Demons' that cinematic with a gameplay trailer being downloadable on the PS3 store is what got me into Souls games in the first place).
Not only a history of armored core, but also the revolution in 3d gaming over past decade and a bit. Main point is Last raven. Before, everything opens to give you a gaming feel in terms of music, etc. Everything after it is no longer a high speed arcade game, but now is a harsh war torn world, and that is the image that forms in your mind.
Cesar Salcido well I heard the Kuratas was street legal and civilans were able to bye it at a big expence nut that makes me wonder when they do make armored cores will they be civillanized or something more then likely they will be used for military purposes and maybe the next step to other worldly travel im not entirely sure but I hope we get there one day
Cesar Salcido that is true and also with how armored cores work it depends on the build and also what about UNAC's and stuff will they be available anywho if you have a ps3 add me KazutoKirigiya
Hell yea, especially if it's the one mission where you face off against the main rival AC. Imagine a cinematic like that but it includes the AC that you build and it's like a big showdown between you and the rival
Back in 2015, this was the video that made me find out there were more AC games other than Silent Line. Right now, I've got almost all the PS2 era games and I've bought a Xbox 360 just to play 4 and For Answer. None of that could've been possible if I hadn't watched this video. Thank you!
AC1 and Project Phantasma were so damned fun for their time. They're hilariously borked by today's standards, but considering the sheer drought of GOOD mech games in gaming history, it's remarkable how the AC series survived for as long as it did. But these videos really take me back to when I finally got my PS2, and picked up AC2 + AC3. Shortly afterward, Silent Line came out and...wow. It was just great. I must have sunk over 300 hours into that game, doing duels with my friends and unlocking parts dujour. Alas, Nexus came right after that and it's...well I thought it was a total mess. Heat mechanics became the #1 concern for all ACs, while an even greater proportion of the weapons/parts (as usual) became worthless. AC3 and Silent Line weren't perfect, but they're by far the best of the series that I played; while I'd make several adjustments to the parts roster (weapon arms and back weapons especially) the core gameplay mechanics, pun not intended, were spot-on. All chassis types were viable if you knew how to leverage them. Even tanks. The other major change I'd make is try to clean up the story. The concept of Layered is great, until you consider how many missions take place in natural environments with open skies and the like. It's insane to consider the logistics of creating an entirely self-contained environment like that UNDERGROUND, even going well beyond AC's usual requirements for suspension of disbelief.
If anything, the sheer lack of good mech games is exactly why Armored Core has survived, and outlived every other mecha game. Armored Core was around for a while. It survived against Omega Boost (which never got past 1 release), Zone of the Enders (which never got past 2 releases), and a whole slew of other mech games that just didn't last. Armored Core's biggest advantage? That fking customization man. You could spend weeks playing with parts, and theory-crafting to find a good build.
Also agreed. While I never had much of a chance to play decent amounts outside of AC:LR, I loved the series and would've supported more if I could've. I got my start on AC2. I never got far (I'm rather shit with a just d-pad for movement) and put it down quickly but I was already in love, seeing all the other games made since. Once I had LR, I played the crap out of it. So much so that I got through at least 2 different endings and purchased every single part available of every kind. I even beat all the arena stuff with only one or two different AC's, something I never thought I could do at all. I would love to play any of the rest that had analog control support.
Atmos Dwagon Indeed. I think 3 might be my favorite - I'm actually re-playing it right now. (I'm waiting until I beat it again to play Silent Line, which I haven't played yet! I just got the whole PS2 lot on eBay. Aw yeah.) I started back with the original and have been absolutely hooked since. I really wanted to like Nexus - I loved the *idea* of it - an archival game with better graphics and smoother gameplay... but alas... the resolution was so wonky (internal rendering and output resolution not proportional?) and the mechanics were bent. The 4's were a bit too different for my preference, but they're still some of my favorite games in general - but I really think the series hit its peak with 3 (and from what I've read, Silent Line). A note about "skies" in Layered - the original soundtrack for the game has a few tracks titled "Artificial Sky" hinting that the skies you see in the game are false in some way - perhaps projected or simulated.
I wish they would remake the first gen because they had the best OP weapons. I also want to see those ranked Ravens from AC1 that were never used actually implemented in the game
This series needs to come back. I've been a fan since the very first one on PS1. Just such a fast and fluid mech combat game, with so many customizable options!
Out of all of these, my favorites are MoA, 2AA, and AC4/FA. I'm also playing (and enjoying) AC Nexus, despite the removal of OP-Intensify/Human Plus, making if a bit more of a challenge, but still fun. V and VD, on the other hand........I've never felt such disappointment in a video game before. Hope AC6 returns to AC4/FA style, as those are my top favorite.
AC4 and AC4A are and will always be my favourites, especially AC4A... gotta love fighting the main Arms Forts like Motherwill and Answerer (that bloody monster!!). I always used a Rayleonard 03-Aaliyah frame due to the fact that I prefer high-speed combat. Then I switched to a White Glint frame in AC4A.
Drakrylos the Vex Commando in there is some people still playing ACFA in multiplayer, and I was shock there is some people still playing it, and the free for all fight was tucking incense fight that make my heart beating crazy while trying to hit your target, but they moving ridiculous FAST!!! and the next minutes and BOOM! you down, gonna love this game, it give me worthy challenges >:)
I honestly think that a lot of people say 5th-gen AC (ACV & AC:VD) sucked is because, quite simply, you can't fly. That's it. They're all like "oh you can't fly in this game? This game sucks I don't want to play it". Looking at it that way is waaaaay too shallow. I do would want to emphasize that, that is an opinion. Not a fact. The reason why From Software removed the flight ability from 5th-gen ACs is because they don't want one-man armies buzzing around in a game that is supposed to emphasize team play. Add to that the rock-paper-scissors mechanic of the game which prevents players from relying too heavily on overpowered builds, and you really will be forced to rely on your teammates when it comes to tough and tight situations. 5th-gen still does require a lot of skill to play, it's just that it requires, nay, DEMANDS a different skill set compared to 4th-gen. All in all, 5th-gen is a love-it-or-hate-it thing. I love it, in the sense that teamwork is essential, and I hate it, in the sense that they separated the Japanese from the International servers.
ZeroStriker426 For me, it's less about it being a bad game (which it really isn't) and more about it deviating too much from the formula I knew and loved as an old school AC fanatic. Once in the past, they made a spin-off game called Murakumo - which was kind of terrible - but I didn't mind because it didn't disrupt the good name of my favorite series. It let them try a new but related formula without messing with the main line. Probably more than any game series I can think of, Armored Core stuck to its formula - slightly improving it with each iteration - and there were many iterations. If there is any fanbase that was always happy to have more of the same, it was the Armored Core fanbase. The 4 and 4A games were a pretty big departure - honestly a bit too much for my tastes - but they were still awesome games, and were at least close enough to the classics to keep me mostly satisfied. (IMHO, though, too much flying, not enough stomping.) I think V and VD just deviated way too much to still be in the main series of Armored Core games. (ALL stomping, NO flying, absurd proportions, ridiculous weapons, etc.) It's kind of like when the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within movie bombed so hard Square nearly stopped existing - only to be bought-up by Sony. My theory is that it only bombed so hard because they called it "Final Fantasy". It was a pretty neat movie and had great visuals - I thought it was a totally fun time - but it had so little to do with the expectations inextricably tied to the title that it was absolutely doomed to fail. I think it's the same with ACV. It isn't that it's a bad game... it's that it has the wrong name - and that it too severely changed the direction of a series that had been going steady for many years. In this way, I count ACV as the biggest disappointment I've ever experienced in the gaming world... that, and maybe the cancellation of MW5.
+ZeroStriker426 well it was a giant change, 4th gen was all about being the best NEXT pilot, only working with others to achieve your goals really, a real mercenary driven world. Your armored core was 90% flying and maneuvering, now you can't even leave the ground and it just seems silly to me. Like the built the entire game around fixing what they thought the fans didnt like about 4th gen

Savaughn Thompson Personally, I'd love to see them have another whack at it, with a balance of the mechanics from the previous generations. For me, the ideal AC game would be mechanically based on the third gen - but allowing for the extremes that appear in the 4th and 5th. Primarily land-based, walking machines also capable of flying - with the lightest machines spending more time in the air, and heavier ones more time on the ground. I don't mind the inclusion of multiplayer, but I actually enjoyed the focus on mostly lone-wolf merc. missions in the older games - and of course the arena battles. Going one-on-one with my buddies, pitting our designs against each-other was probably my favorite part.
exactly! They were barely used, but sometimes it was just a fun building a tank build that barely got off the ground as it was building a light fly build. Even trying to make a special one trick pony build that had a heavy cannon but never touches the ground was fun. They could've taken a new AC game in that direction and improved rather than dropping the whole concept. And I loved the merc atmosphere cause nothing makes you feel more attached to strangers than knowing if they go down, you're going down too
as helicopter mechanic, I actually laugh quite at bit at the apache being used to haul anything other then itself. I realize its sci fi but it's still funny to me.
I don't get it why people criticize the AC V era games. The incredibly fast paced combat is still there, you just need the right build for it. So is the free flight. With the right generator/boosters combo, you won't ever need to touch the ground, even in high-boost mode. To that, AC V games add more strategic elements into missions, pack just enough challenge, and add decent co-op features. What is there not to like? Maybe it's become somewhat a trademark of the generation to whine an complain all the time? AC games have never been better, take it and enjoy it. Or shut the fcuk up and play your crappy Gundams, Front Mission Evolved and what have you.
AlexKulibin while i love Gundam, and intend on trying out Front Mission at some point, i will 100% admit Armored Core will always be the best mecha series in gaming history. no matter what particular entry you look at, they’re all amazing
AC4 and AC4A will always be my one true loves in the series. Did a Let's Play of Nexus, I fucking HATE the results, but it went up anyway. Next time I'm doing a much better job and hopefully can make something awesome sauce.
Even after all these years ... I still call myself a Raven. This takes me back to the good old days. I will admit Armored Core 4 Answer is probably my favorite. Destroying Armed Forts was surprisingly fun. Sometimes a puzzle, and sometimes a shooting gallery. Armored core 5 took the Power out of my Power Fantasy.
I've played and beat every last one of those armored core games love it with all my hart wish they would BRING BACK ! that mechanized armored battles with all new updated trimmings. now I'm like a soldier with no WAR ....
Seriously, the style, the animation, the actual gameplay of it.......this game was by far the best of the lot. I am a fan of all the AC games, but AC 4 was the absolute perfect representation of this series. This may be a bias opinion, but fuck.......I love mecha because of this series, and this shit solidified it for me. Get fucked, Mech Warrior. AC 4 4LYFE!
I loved how 1st and second is all "LOOK SPACE ROBOTS GUNS FIGHT SKILLS AH" and then gen 3 is all grim and dystopian-looking cities ravaged by war, with mysterious plotlines and whatnot.
+Christian Sandoval I would love for this to happen, along with updated gameplay that would allow for combat as it was featured in that era's amazing FMVs.
The studio should just gone and made movies with the graphics from the opening sequences of 4 and V which are amazing for their time period, some of the shots looked so real it was hard to distinguish them, absolutely masterful art direction from the team behind it, too bad the ingame graphics are terrible by even the time frame.
Yeah man. The AC1-AC3 era ACs were my favorites. The AC4 era machines were really cool, and were clearly the most powerful of all the generations, but the older models have a special place in my heart.
I still remember when I was a young lad and getting the very first Armored Core game for xmas. Got to open one gift early early on xmas, the first game is what I opened and boy did I play the hell out of it.
My dad fell in love with mecha because of Voltes V.... Mine however... is Armored Core MoA... Then it paved the way of my love to the mecha genre (Anime and Games)
they should really bring back some of the stuff from ac 3 n 4 back. like the shoulder cannons and drone units and other special ability to certain torso type
I was a loyal AC fan for the longest time, but AC4 / fa kinda deflated my enthusiasm for the series, and I skipped AC V all together. Was that a mistake?
Admitedly 4 was pretty bad, but FA was lovely. Not the best, but certainly lovely. From what I've seen, V looks pretty good, and verdict day might be as well.
qwe2433 They are pretty good, but very multiplayer reliant. I suggest you buy them to support the series, but the multiplayer is dying in ACVD so... yeah :P
Silent Line Armored Core was one of my first videogames ever. I was mind-blown by the combat mechanics. I played the hell out of it until I reached the Cypress mission, which I couldn't get through for the life of me. I then stopped playing the game and never touched it again for almost a decade. on coming back, I started from scratch and punched through the game with a dual machine gun design I did not have to change from early game all the way down to Ibis.
I want to see an open world for Armored Core 6 combining all locations of the world for your exploration. The open amount of missions you can choose etc and base build. The PVE and PVP to. It would be epic on all proportions. The countless customization for you AC/NEXT and reputation building for in game factions. Creations of clans groups and coop action also massive bring back of Arms Forts. Playable both solo or coop online or offline.
It was White Glint going on an operation to take on Mother Will. He had landed on the upper level where all the mini-acs and turrets are held up, but slipped off when it was targetting him.
Hmm what if they made armored core for occulus rift with the body control. Maybe have pedals that you can adjust the sensitivity of, and which eve way you leaned you moved. Pres one pedal for booster and other for quick boost (or just have classic one set of boosters, no QB). I don't think it's entirely impossible. Or maybe allow infinite energy and have boosters always on. Just a small jump to lift off, and another jump to descend.
AC with Oculus Rift would be amazing, IF targeting and individual weapon and arm control were allowed. In AC, you can only shoot in the direction you are facing. If I could look to my sides, and shoot at multiple targets with both arms (like the APUs in Matrix Revolutions), that would be awesome. You could easily do this on a PC, but I'm not sure how to get that to work on a console like PS, without making new peripherals.
I mean the character, May Greenfield is a good character, but not enough to save it. Chief on the other hand, saved ACV, he is just that awesome. XD "Human Beings are just so damn interesting!" God all of his lines are meme worthy. -3-
The original series was definitely NOT low tar and nicotine... I am HOPELESSLY addicted, as I still play Project Phantasma on my old P.S. 3. I am hopelessly addicted. (Inhales waft of Kojima from For Answer Next's Particle Shield) ......Ooooooooooyeeeeeeeeeah..... *Cough* That's the good stuff..... Armored Core 2 And Another Age, was my favorite series. Armored Core For Answer was my favorite game.
Though I admit that AC4 had the best OP and general gameplay over all, I'm probably the only one here who loves 5 in both aesthetic and gameplay. 4 was too fast passed, too explosive and too OP for my liking. 5 had the weight, umph and the general look of what I envisioned mechs were suppose to be. They are not as sexy as those in 4, but they do have the rugged beauty that was to be expected of war machines.
The only thing I think they should have done is stuck with the old armored core song feel, like the first game had a dark mysterious feeling, and as time went on it got less and less mysterious and more pop oriented not something I was looking forward to seeing, especially with the openings...

shame there no proper ports for them
at least on PC you can use emulators
Armored Core For Answered. So awesome that it made a comeback in Armored Core Verdict Day. Ah how I miss the fast pace firefight.
whooo doesnt.

Love this series, watching this reminds me how much it's evolved over the years.
Can't believed I only jumped into the series recently.
It's been a long time since i last played an Armored Core game and i miss playing them. I would love to see them come back now.

WOW brings back some very good memory's! i played them all loved them so much (:
It's out of AC3 and AC4 for best opening. My best memories came from AC MOA on the PS1 console #GoodTimes
man haven't seen these in years why did i just cry seeing ac3 opening lololol so fkn epic
Master of Arena is definitely one of the best if not the best AC game.
Good times

Agreed. Completely. I have literally spent dozens of hours setting up builds (for competitive, and for fun) in several of the entrants.

jathanator well, Z.O.E. did incorporate cockpits in the area of where a cock would be. Negative points for mech dongs :P lol

(ALL stomping, NO flying, absurd proportions, ridiculous weapons, etc.)
It's kind of like when the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within movie bombed so hard Square nearly stopped existing - only to be bought-up by Sony.

It's an Apache from the future, do not question its logic...
Seriously gotta say I feel you on this one.
+Cyanide7662 LR and Nexus are my favorites, mostly because they were my first.
AlexKulibin while i love Gundam, and intend on trying out Front Mission at some point, i will 100% admit Armored Core will always be the best mecha series in gaming history. no matter what particular entry you look at, they’re all amazing
moaからac4までハードを三つ以上またぎつつ毎年一タイトルずつ発売してた。これ見るとムービーが徐々に進化してるのがよく分かります。
1994年の時点でex-armよりかは違和感ないの凄い!
Hahahahah
I have been a big fan of ARMORED CORE I only got to play AC 1 & AC 2... I wish I could play the rest of them... HELL YEAH GO ARMORED CORE
Im such a huge fan 😁
The armored core franchise is absolutely awesome 🙌🏾🔥
AC4 and AC4A will always be my one true loves in the series. Did a Let's Play of Nexus, I fucking HATE the results, but it went up anyway. Next time I'm doing a much better job and hopefully can make something awesome sauce.
Agreed.. AC4life.
AC 3 memories on the ps2❤️😔
it just needs a really nice story around the conflict its taking place in, and then it's popularity will almost be the same like a gundam franchise.
Lol the stories are usually good. If they just spoon fed the plot to players it would be an ordinary mech game with good customization and mechanics.
Please FromSoft, give us AC6 (but return to 4A style gameplay).
AC 4 4LYFE!
Its spiritual successor is daemon x machina
Bring back AC sl format ;)
@@SPIDERKING777 Gen 3 FTW.
@@laipsax gen 3 mechanics were best tho
If From Software released an HD collection of the older games I would buy that in a heartbeat.
didnt get to play V or Verdict day but for me For Answer was hands down the best armored core so amazing.
MorroWolf You didn't miss anything.
David Hoffnung Well I missed that flaming dragon claw thing which for me is reason enough to play.
Armored core 2 was my childhood. Loved that game.
armored core V looks so real
個人的にネクサスのOPが一番好き
accountびるど
音楽と雰囲気良いですよね
新時代の幕開けを見たと思ったら爆熱ゲーだった思い出
How to feel old in one easy step!
1. Watch this video.
So much nostalgia...
The only Armored core game I've ever played is AC2 and it was awesome
for Answerは別格と言うか、今見ても作り込みが凄い。
思えばこの後からモード学院とかいう専門学校のCMがロボ押しになってた気がする。
in my opinion 3rd gen is the definitive representation of the series
I loved how 1st and second is all "LOOK SPACE ROBOTS GUNS FIGHT SKILLS AH" and then gen 3 is all grim and dystopian-looking cities ravaged by war, with mysterious plotlines and whatnot.
which isn't a bad thing, it's pretty realistic
that's what I meant. I love 3rd gen.
Yes and i want this for next gen
Man I just loved watching how the trailers progressed over time....its like watching a movie pretty much towards the end
AC2やってたんですけど2010年ってすごい昔だ!
i want ac 3 and silient line remasterd for next gen NOW!
+Christian Sandoval I would love for this to happen, along with updated gameplay that would allow for combat as it was featured in that era's amazing FMVs.
Silent line was one of my first videogames.
I would give ALL the money for a next gen remake.
The best generation of AC, realistic and so beautiful !
Christian! GOD I can only hope!! AC3 and SL are my top favorites alongside 4A and VD!
They already got a PSP port so it's prolly either gonna be a gen 2 or gen 4 remaster
The studio should just gone and made movies with the graphics from the opening sequences of 4 and V which are amazing for their time period, some of the shots looked so real it was hard to distinguish them, absolutely masterful art direction from the team behind it, too bad the ingame graphics are terrible by even the time frame.
デモエクもレフトアライブも4系寄りのハイスピード、フロムロボがまだ生きているならやはりこの路線か。それとも…
Ive played AC4, ACFA, ACV and ACVD. i recently played Armored Core: Nexus and i must say i like it just as much (or more) than the newer ones
1のOPとか当時としては高グラフィックにしても現代では超低グラ、しかし演出がすっっごいワクワクさせてくれる
操作性とかユーザーとか関係ねえ
「アーマード・コア」を作るんだよフロムゥ
19:49 - This scene literally screams "It's a gundam!"
No doubt one of the best japanese game franchises.
the first gen of AC were awesome...
would they remake them????
If the fans pester FROM Software enough they might.
VladimirArkov They should bring those pearls to PC :D
Though I really hope they don't nerf The Finger and Karasawa if they do port them to pc
Yeah man. The AC1-AC3 era ACs were my favorites. The AC4 era machines were really cool, and were clearly the most powerful of all the generations, but the older models have a special place in my heart.
ac 4 and above had next gen graphics when the lasts games were like only 8 months apart 😮
the arena was awesome. Trying to best the champions and then meeting them on the battlefield during a mission
Armored core has come so far
they should really bring back some of the stuff from ac 3 n 4 back. like the shoulder cannons and drone units and other special ability to certain torso type
some AC games had a trick to get a cockpit view like that. Also there were some fan movies, one of them sporting a cockpit view much of the time.
this 1 of my fav games in play station, hope they make a new one.
i loved the armored core for answer trailer the most
新作おめでとう記念。いや、私も嬉しい。
I was a loyal AC fan for the longest time, but AC4 / fa kinda deflated my enthusiasm for the series, and I skipped AC V all together. Was that a mistake?
Admitedly 4 was pretty bad, but FA was lovely. Not the best, but certainly lovely. From what I've seen, V looks pretty good, and verdict day might be as well.
qwe2433 They are pretty good, but very multiplayer reliant. I suggest you buy them to support the series, but the multiplayer is dying in ACVD so... yeah :P
FAは何回見てもすげえわ
Armored core 3 had the best soundtrack in the entire franchise but armored core 4 had the most epic intro
CGと音楽が世界トップレベル
相川辰治 クオリティー高すぎだよね
I miss playing these armoured core games wonder if they ever remaster or remake them on PS4 or rerelease them
Silent Line Armored Core was one of my first videogames ever.
Wish they would bundle them al and release to PC. Translated or not they would still be amazingly fun.
I was only aware of and played AC4,ACFA, AC.V, and ACVD....seeing the other ones was like Daaaamn... What a series, sad ACVD doesn't have an opening
Open world. That's retarded
Says you, Ac 4 and FA are always going to be the black sheep of the armored core series
It was White Glint going on an operation to take on Mother Will. He had landed on the upper level where all the mini-acs and turrets are held up, but slipped off when it was targetting him.
i never really liked the newer AC games. I always preferred the older ones. Retro is better, now its a very Complicated game.
やっぱアーマードコアシリーズはアンファングが1番好きだったなー
For answer and 4 forgot what it meant to be an armored core game, V and VD went back to its roots.
this is history at its best
One guy? No, there are many, many who agree with you. The main group that rain HATE Rockets on ACV are those who've joined at AC4 and AC4A.
God Armored Core 2 was so good, definitely my favorite, so many memories.
well for me it is nexus
Though I admit that AC4 had the best OP and general gameplay over all, I'm probably the only one here who loves 5 in both aesthetic and gameplay.
4 was too fast passed, too explosive and too OP for my liking.
5 had the weight, umph and the general look of what I envisioned mechs were suppose to be.
They are not as sexy as those in 4, but they do have the rugged beauty that was to be expected of war machines.
What do think of the 3rd acs?
The only thing I think they should have done is stuck with the old armored core song feel, like the first game had a dark mysterious feeling, and as time went on it got less and less mysterious and more pop oriented not something I was looking forward to seeing, especially with the openings...
