Ghostface, T-1000 and Conan The Barbarian is the single most random lineup of guest characters I’ve ever seen in a fighting game DLC pack.
WB has a deep catalog.
Ghostface doesnt fit niehter does conan really and all the pot heads wanting scary movie ghost face are even worse. This is so stupid and they could have put way better options in
Not really mortal kombat has deep ties to terminator and Conan lore. Kano’s face was modeled after the T-800 after part of it was torn off and outworld itself is a sword&sorcery setting

I know what's bothering me of Noob's new design: It's not the hat. It's the green highlight.
When we think of what colors we associate him with, those are black and dark purple. That's what's throwing me off, green is almost the complete opposite color that we're used to see (the inverse of purple is yellow btw). I know it's a nitpick but I cannot help it, it's a "once you see it, you can't unsee it" kinda detail in my book.

I honestly hope Peacemaker is going to mention T-1000 reminding him of his dad since T-1000's actor is the same one who plays his dad in the Peacemaker tv show.
He already had a hidden voice line for it that was uncovered so yeah he’ll have an opener something along those lines.

Since the T-1000 can basically replicate the person, form and voice mind you, of whomever they touch, I demand to hear him talking to Peacemaker as if HE WAS his dad.
The "infinity stones" on Havik's chest are likely the Kamidogu (first presented in MK:Deception).

It's kinda annoying we get Freddie but we couldn't use him to fight Jason.
Then we got Jason, but couldn't use him to fight Freddie.
Then we got Terminator but we couldn't use him to fight T-1000.
Now we got T-1000 but we can't use him to fight Terminator.
Although we did get Alien vs Predator that was cool.
As well as RoboCop vs Terminator.
That's just the drawback of cameos. They're there to build hype but ultimately they're only locked to that specific game.
Watch in the next MK, we'll get Pinhead, Ash and Candyman finally

@@94XBlackXEyedXPeas I doubt it, you gotta remember that all these Titans are from the original timeline (the MK9-11 one). THAT Havik was already on a quest to get all of the kamidogu (it was in the MKX comics I think) and Onaga wasn't involved there, so he probably just collected them all again after he won the hourglass in his version of the universe.

Glad Max is like the only person who actually acknowledged how 'Guest' characters need to be signed off on being mutilated.
Yeah a character can feel like they fit perfectly, but if the rights holder isn't okay with them being vivisected, there's nothing to negotiate.
Ed Boon actually mentioned this at the SDCC panel as a part of deciding who the guest characters are and that they have to be okay with getting a fatality on them and said it's one of the reasons you'll never see someone like Batman in MK.

Also, for the most part, they are mostly using IP's WB owns the rights to... Meaning it's not like the rights holder is a separate entity.
Obviously, WB isn't going to let them use characters like Frodo, Willy Wonka, or Harry Potter for an MK game... But Neo or Agent Smith? Why not?

8:15 Okay, fun piece of trivia for y'all. You know about how in MK11 Terminator got an impersonator for his VA whereas Rambo got voiced by Stallone, right?
The exact opposite happened with the Italian dub. Alessandro Rossi reprised his iconic baritone voice for Arnold, but sadly Stallone's Italian VA (the late Ferruccio Amendola) passed away one week shy of 9/11, so a replacement was the only choice.

The Kamidogu were big symbols on plinths. These are very much inspired by Infinity Stones.
This is what blew my mind the most, the kamidogu are back.
They're basically the same things Muguffin items with near infinite power that just about Everyone wants

Is it just me, or does every story cutscene in these games imply that Netherrealm _desperately_ wants to make an MK character action game and their bosses just won't let them? There's hoards of enemies in mass battles, huge terrifying monsters that look rad as hell... and they're always being fought by someone else _just_ offscreen while you have a 1 on 1 battle with some dude, yet again. Can you imagine a modern version of Shaolin Monks? My mouth is watering just thinking about it... 😭
The stones in Havik's chest are the Kamidogu. This came from where he used their power in the MKX comics.
That was so cool to see, MK has such cool lore that’s already been established and not really expanded much on so it’s cool to see them going back to it. That whole multiversus thing is so drawn out

Ghostface was long overdue and I figured after T-800 the natural conclusion had to be T-1000. From Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The best action film of all time.

The only way I see Ghostface working in Mortal Kombat is having multiple Ghostface’s fighting together.

Thorgi described Ghostface as one who could be a rushdown type of character given how he silently stalks and runs while also being a combo field with low attack. In fact, your criticism is actually a good idea for Ghostface as a fighter (which was also something Thorgi brought up): have the other Ghostfaces be summon for attacks and assists.
Also Terrordrome exists so regardless of what I think, your argument is automatically invalid. LOL

I don't like how they gender swap Sektor and Cyrax. They could had just turn those into original characters instead like when they do the female Sub-Zero, female Kano, and male Khameleon a.k.a. Frost, Kira, and Reptile.
I mean, there isn’t a lot of female characters in the base game to begin with what’s the harm in adding two more (from my count we only have 6: Sindel, Kitana, Li mei, Tanya, Mileena, and Ashrah.)

The most fun way to do Ghostface would be to play off how there's usually been more than one killer in each movie.
So he has "teleports" that are just the other run popping up on screen, or has a throw that's the second one holding the opponent.

You can occasionally see a second Ghostface poke their head out from one side of the screen almost like they are waiting for their turn

Feel like Johnny would be the most appropriate one to make that reference.
And for extra comedy, Ghostface could tell Johnny to shut up before he can hold the "wazzup" for too long, saying how he either refuses to do it, doesn't sound like that, or tells Johnny that he has no clue what the hell he's talking about.

Conan's literally the only one I feel excited about. The rest, I either hate or in the case of T-1000... can't see working because of Fatalities.
Lifelong Conan fan, love the original books by creator Robert E Howard, the movies, cartoon and both the Marvel & Dark Horse comics. Hugely excited to get to play as Conan in an MK game.

Since when is Havik the great villain? You know, this feeling is like watching a Batman movie, the great villain is not Joker, not Ra's al Ghul, not Court of Owls, but Deadshot or Poison Ivy. It's just not feeling right.
Some cool guest characters that would fit in with Mortal Kombat would be like Pinhead from *Hellraiser,* Deathstroke from *Task Force X,* Shredder maybe, from *TMNT,* Deadpool and The Mask (the comic version).
Deathstroke definitely should've been used instead of JOKER, Shredder, The Mask and DOOMSLAYER are also all perfect fits. What's more instead of using the T-1000, Boon could've finally just made KHROME a legit character, he's basically a MK ninja with the T-1000's powers.

Ghostface is so underrated a pick. Scream and MK both started in the 90s and still relevant and big today. Both have very similar sense of blending seriousness and silly humor. Ghostface isn’t a single person. Anyone could be under the mask. So good a pick for MK guest. People are so sleeping on it man.

Havik's VA is incredible, probably one of my favorite VAs in the game. Overall, the returning characters are pretty cool, but I feel the same way about the Guest characters, they're just kinda okay. I am really curious how they're gonna make Ghostface work, maybe he'd be more like his Scream 5-6 version where he has guns and is a bit more confrontational.

They did Rule 63 Johnny Cage so the Rule 63 versions of Cyrax and Sektor isn't that surprising.
I mean not exactly a female Johnny Cage, Janet Cage (who I assume is what you meant) is more like the alternate cassie cage since Johnny cage in this new timeline didn’t hook up with Sonya but with that brunette woman in the story.
To me it just makes sense because they have the classic cyborgs as kameos. So how do they make the main fighters stand out from the kameos? Genderswap is a simple and effective way

This is the third game in a row where Sektor and Cyrax are locked behind dlc. The way they monetized MK hurts.
Yeah I feel like they just aren’t ever going to make base roster. If they do that means you have sub zero, cyrax, sektor for Lin qui. Along with scorpion and possibly takeda for the shiria ryu. So that’s 4 ninjas at least along with staples like noob, ermac, reptile, rain. You just can’t really do one without the other ever and I don’t think they really can make triborg a cannon character especially without variations being a thing so it’s just hard to put them in the base roster.
Sektor and Cyrax weren't even playable in Mortal Kombat 11. Even though you could fight them in the story
T-1000 is the absolute biggest hype for me. I saw T2 in theaters when I was 3 years old - it's a story my parents tell all the time about how some old lady sitting next to us asked them if they thought it was appropriate for me to be there, and they shrugged and said "He'll be fine" (and I am, in fact, fine). But because I saw it so early, the T-1000 became legitimately one of the most intimidating villains of all time, in my own head. He scared the ever-loving crap out of me on the most visceral level because he could "be anyone". But because of that, he also became probably my favorite sci-fi movie villain ever - the T2 VHS tape I owned growing up definitely went through the ringer after all the times I watched it. So cool to see him in the game!

So I think Noob Saibot's new design is based on a Kuroko (I had to look up the name, but the design looked familiar). Like stage hands you would see in the background in classic Japanese theater. They wore a similar outfit all in black to sort of blend in with the background. Makes sense I guess.
So this means T-X in MK2?😂 Now it is a tradition to have Terminators in every MK Game. Now i want Rev-9, the T- 2000 and Sarah Connor in Kombat Pack 3. 😂 No Joke.
As an MK outsider the guest lineup feels so random. Like, wouldn't you rather see returning characters or all mew fighters from in-universe? This is from someone that thinks Terry and Mai coming to SF6 is the best thing ever.
Yeah, MK devs are clearly EXTREMELY out of touch with their audience. This whole lineup is just a massive “wtf is this” to me. Terry was my #1 requested character for SF6 (I LOVE Mai also, but Terry is who I’m looking forward to), and clearly a LOT of other people felt the same way, and Capcom knew that… so they made it happen. There are so many other guest characters that they haven’t even considered that would be WAY better than these… and we got “these”. It’s pretty disappointing to see MK pretty much just turn into a soulless cash grab, but here we are. Thanks Warner Bros for ruining another beloved franchise!
