    Hey Tucker, nice review. One question: Im 85kg, jibes, freefly and downwinders 12-30kn, I have Unit 2024 4m² and 5m² and need a smaller one. Cannot decide for 3m² or 3.5m² - any suggestion? Thx

      I'd suggest the 3m personally. The 3.5m will have a lot of overlap with the 4m.

    Thanks for your review. How would it compare to the Ozone flux when it comes to the low end and getting you up in foil? Would you say the Unit has a bit better low end but a bit less performance compared to the flux? And, sorry one more, how does it perform in freefly compared to last year v3 and again to the flux?

    • @northyvids
      @northyvids Год назад +1

      That is the question... please compare with the flux....I tried both at the weekend and id love to confirm my feelings

      Flux much smoother and less low end...I like unit just until 4m, no smaller...then I prefer flux...

      Unit- one of the best low ends on the market - great lift and control- 2024 has a bit more stability, but when you have a wing with great lift and grunt in low wind it will have more feedback on the top end, there are trade offs. Advance riders will find the larger sizes in lighter wind where the Unit shines. I love the Unit in sizes 5.5 and up.
      The flux is a better option in my opinion in the smaller sizes in powered conditions. Flux will perform better for intermediate to advanced riders - handles top end better (very stable), has more upwind drive and speed, need to know how to pump on low end, flags out well and is stable in waves

      @@MACkiteboarding That reeeally helps. Love my Units- especially my d-lab 4.0 which I use from 15-30 but I do find my 3.0 to be a bit unruly with gusts and really powered which I see a fair bit here. I'm accustomed to dealing with it... but likely as a result do find myself pistol gripping the front handle on waves and downwind quite a bit. Maybe the flux will be my jam for 3.0

    Looks like those new handles make it more like the boomed slick, how does the wing compare to the Slick overall? Thinking of a 3.5 unit 2024

    Great review! I found the unit 23 a bit unstable when flagged out. It looks like that has improved a bit? Looking forward to hear about the D-Lab

    • @nicolapescasio2316
      @nicolapescasio2316 Год назад +4

      bit unstable??? it is ridiculously unstable...overall in small sizes keep flipping over...the luff handle is garbage like the airport valve and they don't want to change it...but in general is a good wing, give you instant power...

    • @ashleydavis614
      @ashleydavis614 Год назад +2

      the luff from the front handle has improved a lot - my 2023 Unit's are pretty wild in the walk down the beach to get on the water, the 2024 is way way better behaved, it doesn't get into that even increasing swing from side to side, it swings a little and then self stabilises with some minimal input from the front luff handle but it never gets into that horrible pendulum state that gets worse and worse like the 2023 Units often do.

      @@nicolapescasio2316you are absolutely right, I was out with my 4 meter 2023 unit today. And it is all over the place and super frustrating. I am actually considering trying another brand for my smaller wings. I have a 5,5 meter unit (Alula ) and that fly like a dream.

      Agreed on the smaller sizes, I tend to move to the Slick for higher winds so it's less twitchy. -Tucker

      For sure, the pistol grip helps a lot. It's a nice upgrade.

    Thanks for your video. Nice wing! What wing size do you recomend for 20-30+ knts . I'm 75kg I already have a swing v3 5.5. Thanks

    Wondering how this packs with the handles so close together?

    • @MACkiteboarding
      @MACkiteboarding  Год назад

      a bit cumbersome, but no extra space then a typical wing.- handles can be removed easily for travel

    Nice vid and test, which harness lines did you use with the Unit and where to buy those?

    Nice review as always 👍
    In any case, I like the colors better than the previous ones, I myself prefer the Slick boom in the surf. It can slide nicely through your hands and you never make a mistake with the stick. My latest acquisition is the 23/24 Slick Aluulla 6m 🙏

      All great choices. I'll be curious how you like the new unit with the longer front handle. For me, it's just as good as the boom. Maybe easier since you can find that sweet spot right next to the inner stanchion - Tucker

      Yes that is true, I will indeed appreciate the Unit with the longer front handle. Maybe the Slick will become redundant.😆

    Thank you for the review. For a beginner would you suggest this wing or another Duotone?
    As a beginner and without technic I need more lift I guess, would you suggest 6m or 6.5 meters? (I am 72 kgs and 176cm)
    Thank you

      The Unit is ideal for new riders. At your weight a 6m would be an ideal first wing -Tucker

    Bottom line: the Unit V4 is basically the same than the Unit V3, a fantastic wing, btw.
    Major improvements might come in V5, probably with less dihedral -flatter wing-, new materials focused on durability, reduced windows, reduced leading edge at higher preasure
    ....will see

    those two handles are made out of quality rejected booms it seems where they cut the bad piece off 😅. Might just as well use a boom then..

    Hard to justify the cost of this wing versus a north mode pro or a ozone flux. Two things that suck: Proprietary valve nozzle not supplied, no leash. Nice wings though. Used the 2023 at Lake Garda this year. Nice but not nicer than the North or Ozone😂
