mario galaxy is in a really weird place in the 3d mario lineage. it's right when nintendo were making the games more linear, but not quite to the extent of games like 3d land or even galaxy 2. it's always felt unique to me because of that. great video!
See, I always found that opinion pretty funny, because Sunshine and 64 feel just as linear as Galaxy to me. What with the whole... Choosing which star to get before going in the level thing. Plus the fact that in at least 64, the stages had very obvious beginning and end points. Galaxy almost feels more open to me because of the fact that some galaxies have completely different paths to take depending on which star you choose to get. I see a lot of people say Galaxy is a course clear game, and while I do agree... The only game that is truly not a course clear game in my mind is Odyssey. But maybe that's a subject for a whole video on its own
@@Cosmosis there are definitely quite a few mario 64 levels which are pretty linear, like tick-tock clock (and i think those levels are pretty annoying because of how the stars are placed), but i personally feel like galaxy is more linear, due to most galaxies being a straight path to the star, along with forcing you to collect a certain star based off of which mission you're playing. not saying that's bad, since i definitely like galaxy way more than 64 (and probably a little more than sunshine?). i think it might also come down to a difference in our personal definitions of what linearity is. def agree about odyssey though!
i love this video but as soon as i got to the part with rosalina... PLEASE please please, with such a long segment, one mistake with pronunciation is fine. but when you repeat the same thing over and over... its rose 🌹-a-lina, not rozalina >.>
Apologies, I've a few friends named Rosaline/Rosalina and they all pronounce it as such. Coincidentally, I was also raised by a woman who went by that name. It's more subjective than anything and I'm not going to flip-flop back and forth on my conscious decision to pronounce a name the way that everyone I know pronounces it Thanks for the feedback, though.
I had a lot of fun revisiting Mario Galaxy.
What's your comfort game??
Quake 1, recently. Very scary, but also very charming. I love playing through it.
@@appsgrapsorngsbanana Oh, nice!! This is the first time I've heard of Quake being someones comfort game. Good choice!
Probably Cod if I just Wana sit back mindlessly play but honestly I typically prefer playing new games vs replaying
Spyro.. always spyro.. but then I can relax with Croc
@Enzo B Terraria was actually the first game I ever purchased on Steam!!
SMG and SMG2 were the only 3D Mario games I ended up finish completely. They were so engaging and beginner friendly to my teenage awkward self 😂
Yeah! Maybe that's why I connected with Galaxy so much too haha

You're 100% right about all of that!
Bro you're so underrated, this video is edited in such a clean and satisfying way. You've gotten another sub!
I'm editing a new video right now, and this comment gave me so much motivation. Thank you so much!
Saw this on the sub reddit. I liked this video. You have a knack for this. Keep it up, and hope galaxy 2 makes it to the switch too.
Thanks so much!! I'm glad you liked it
So good! You made me laugh several times, but that reflection expression in the Switch was everything. XD
