This version is MUCH, MUCH better. The bass is more pronounced and overall have more 'thump' and grind unlike the original that sound poppy-ishly boyish.
All tracks from the original album sound infinitely better if there are Peel session versions because the band were instructed to slow down the tempo and liveliness often demonstrated during live performances in order to “better compete” with British post-punk of the time. To this day I can’t bring myself to listen to the original album. It’s overwhelmingly dull. It’s not Robert’s fault because the songs are awesome live. But the first album was robbed of its potential all the same.

I feel the same about the Smiths debut album - it’s so flat - the Peel versions have so much more sparkle.
