My dance teacher said the same thing as you when you said it was about the skill. She was like “you can be fat or skinny, it doesn’t matter, I can make you flexible with my workouts” and she was right. By the end of the season, me and a couple other fat/chunky girls did everything the skinny girls could do: splits, rolls, whatever. She initially choose us for our other skills, while helping us develop skills she knew we can posses. She knew our weight wasn’t an issue when it came to our abilities to do things.

I don’t think anyone watched this movie for Rihanna back in the day. Lol. She only had released like one or two songs. And she was running the risk of becoming a failed early 2000’s singer. Luckily for her “Umbrella” happened and having her associated with JayZ was a huge deal.
Lauren G. This is actually incorrect. Rihanna had two albums out when this movie was released on August 8th, 2006. She had one album out prior in 2005 and another on April 11th in 2006. She wasn’t running the risk of becoming a “failed early 2000s singer” seeing as the songs that did blow up in those albums put her on the radio like, “Pon Da Replay” and “SOS” which brought her fame up to get her to Jay-Z’s level. She wasn’t on her way to failing but up and coming. Acting in a popular movie series was probably just a marketing strategy to promote her as a rising artist, not to revive it, seeing as it was just taking off. Not trying to be rude, but I little Google search would have told you that.

That part was 100% accurate to what a lot of girls I know experienced and helped in developing so many eating disorders.
