    Sorry to hear how frustrated you've been with your Platinum rank duels.
    Speaking for myself, I think the overwhelming negation options in Yu-Gi-Oh is a big part of why I don't have fun dueling 90% of the time. I play a few other CCG's outside of Master Duel, and not being stopped immediately during your plays in those games is such a breath of fresh air.

    My biggest problem with platinum is the FTKs. I feel like at least half of the matches I have in platinum on any given day are degenerate decks you can’t do anything in response to. Whether it’s garbage like Rhongo or a literal FTK/OTK like the Hippo deck, Secret Blast, Gem-Knights, the Numeron thing, and more that I just can’t think of at the moment. it’s just not fun to play against. If it wasn’t for all the fun I had playing actual decks grinding to platinum I would have quit the game after the first week or two. It’s been all downhill since then. Every couple matches I’ll play against something bordering on unfair, but at least I can put up a fight, if not win. Even against the “fair” decks, it kinda feels like if you don’t open Ash, Called by, AND Maxx C, plus actual cards to play the game with your chances of winning are greatly diminished.
    I’ve been messing around with decks for the n/r event in solo mode and I can’t tell if I’m actually having fun playing those decks, or just enjoying doing something yugioh-related that isn’t platinum.

    I felt this. I've been playing superheavy samurai since master duel released and it feels like I've shot myself in the foot everytime I play in plat. Once I got there I just stopped playing after drytron and tri brigade kicked my butt 4 times in a row.

      Dude it's so frustrating sometimes, I went from 1 game away to plat 2 to 8 losses in a row and staring plat 4 in the face. I just kept rage-queueing into Drytrons or true king or mass floodgates.

    I am so fortunate that my absolutely favorite deck, Fluffals, can take advantage of some of the not-so-fair cards in this game and my coin toss luck in order to compete with the meta and make it to Plat 1. It sucks that so many archetypes fall to the consistency and potency of the top decks. The solution to this in Duel Links was KOG, which is something that should be implemented in MD as well. The top tier meta shouldn't be in the same pool as everyone else so, by the middle of the month, the meta decks dilute and everyone has a fair shot at making Plat 1.

  • @SeeJay09
    @SeeJay09 2 года назад +4

    I feel you, man. I got my Six Samurai and Ancient Warrior decks to plat 1 and I would roll my eyes whenever I see drytron and their infinite omni negates. I think if you want to climb with rogue decks, you either play a super broken turn 1 like Rhongo with Six Sam or build your deck to go turn 2 with kaiju's and board wipes (I know some decks are just made to go first by the nature of their archetype). This gives you a chance because you fill your deck with turn 2 cards, and 90% of people will choose to go first anyways.

    I grew up with yu gi oh in the early/mid 2000s and coming back to this game and building a dark magicians deck has been really fun. Progress felt gradual and some matches felt like a game of chess, all about patience and moving back and forth. This was until I reached platinum 5. I just can’t win. I can’t even make a good move. In one turn people summon cards that literally stop me from destroying them, then destroy my traps and any card I summon. I understand my deck probably just isn’t that good, the thing is that this didn’t feel gradual. Like, suddenly I’m playing a different game. It’s awful, I’m just gonna pretend this game doesn’t exist.

    It's sad that you can't even drop down to gold if you're "not feeling it" anymore. If you get to Plat maining a tier 2/3 deck and get destroyed every game you play, pretty much all you can do is wait a month and learn to tank your way back down to gold 5 as soon as you hit gold 1.

    Same , I mainly play machines (orcust/earth machine) because limiter removal is my favourite card of all time and i don’t enjoy any of this meta decks nowadays.. i made the exact same tri brigade deck in the master duel website to see what’s all the hype about played 2 games with it and ended up selling that entire deck because IT IS BORING the deck it self and playing a lot of mirror matches makes it even worse, best part about yu gi oh since early 2000s (personally) was making a deck and see how it functions and make it better instead of going for the most try hard op toxic 20 million floodgates/negates deck and coping it i mean ffs just enjoy the game you sweaty bastards

    I did the plat climb the first two seasons and that was all well and good but in season three I got to gold 1 and immediately started losing intentionally and it's the best decision I've made. I've been having so much fun in gold and playing pure artifacts against the variety of things you face there. I'm not frustrated at all about plat 1 being meta. That's literally what the top ranks are for: competition and finding the optimal strategy. The people there enjoy that. I just like my anime duels in gold.

    I love playing monarch, and I can get what you mean. I can play monarchs and have a good time and win up till plat 5, at that point I have no choice but to switch decks if I want to rank up any further. but I think thats ok, just the way the game is. I kind of just wish they had a "casual mode" with no rank, youd be able to see a lot more experiemental decks, if their was no noticable downside to losing. as if a causal mode existed i could just auto concede against every meta deck and not care.

    I play a triple combo deck and when I find myself in a pickle, even in Silver I see it. I draw the one card that I need to start my comeback run...and it gets negated by Ash or something else. It's just so frustrating...especially the fact that the meta can literally abuse negation by recycling. The meta is just out of control and it's just way to easy to negate stuff in this day and age. As a former Duel Links player, I remember making crazy shutdown decks that took aim at special summoning, which was awesome...until forbidden lance came along. It's the same thing with Master Duel...

    i feel the same way, i think the problem is that there are so many over powered monsters that can be summuned with the meta decks only because they do not have ANY restrictions. like tri brigrade would be OK if after using a tri brigade effect u are LOCKED into tribrigade monsters... the problem is that there are so many good Beast, beast warrior, and winged beast monsters (simorg) that is not a restriction at all. its so unfair
    i play madolches, and the balanced and fun thing about it is, when u summon pettingceasur u are LOCKED into madolches : Not fairs, not beast, not spellcaster, A RESTRICTION ON THE HECKING NAME wich is exactly what makes a rogue deck, they lock u in NAMES , so u dont instantly go into ZEUS / ACCESCODE.
    the game would be so much balanced, u dont even need to ban ANY card if u just lock the archetypes after using an effect monster with a specific name

    • @SnowiKs
      @SnowiKs  2 года назад +1

      But that's what makes the game fun. Finding those incidental synergies. Trying to figure out how much to get away with. I feel the opposite. Instead of making harsher restrictions, make more decks have synergies with more stuff. That why I am not a fan of the most recent support my archetype (Darklords) got. It really helps the deck, but it locks you into fairy monsters. Meaning I can't play it with anything else unless I am able to play around that lock. I thinks that's what makes a cool deck, and a good archetype. That is also why I really love Tri-Brigade Lyrilusc. All of those incidental synergies. Like I would love a deck that was Madolche and Ritual Beasts! 2 Decks that prefer not having cards in the graveyard. That would be so cool if you could put those together, but sadly, you can't. However, when I made this video I did not get my actually thought and feelings across very well. I will be making a response video in which I talk a bit more about what I would like to see from specifically Master Duel, but also just Yu-Gi-Oh in general, that would improve the game. Sorry for the long response.

  • @Jdb63
    @Jdb63 2 года назад +2

    The game just becomes not fun as soon as you cross into platinum, and there's no way of deranking or playing unranked (the joke that is the duel rooms don't count) to make it fun again. What were they thinking?

  • @sieg5857

    • @Eqvil
      @Eqvil 2 года назад

      @@Honest_Mids_Masher Darklord is a one trick pony deck. Your winning condition is getting out the First Darklord, destroying everything on the field, and going for game.
      Pure Darklord, is NOT a versatile deck, at all. Many have said it, but one Ash can brick you. If you go second in plat 1, you will most likely not be able play if they have any spell, or monster effect negation. The deck feels outdated against current decks. Your two staple spells (banishment and contact) are once per turn. Your main monsters are all bricks which cannot be special summoned from hand. To use the effect of a darklord on the field, you have to pay 1k health, and the spell goes from graveyard to the deck, which means you get to use it once. It's a fun deck when you are playing against a bad player, or against a deck that isn't optimized.
      Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Darklords. I only have a Hero and Darklord deck, but I would not advise anyone to invest the gems unless they already made am optimized main, competitive deck, and got the main staple cards.

That's why I also don't enjoy just sitting in gold until the end of the season, because I do just see a whole bunch of terrible decks that I beat with ease.
