It looks like yiheng got to the point that he doesn't need look ahead anymore since he can plan the entire f2l in inspection and solve it faster than the last layer lol.
A long time ago when Feliks was dominating, a lot of people thought Color Neutral was the only way to go. A lot of the top chinese cubers these days are really making white only or white/yellow work. It seems to have thrown the argument of being Color Neutral out the window now (more or less).
Cn is still up in the air tbf. Chinese cubers major in white cross is due to the bootcamps always teach white cross, there are some top chinese cubers who learn cn eventually. Maybe Yiheng will reach a new high when he adopts cn.
I think efficient f2l solutions / multislotting in near pauseless solves goes pretty hand in hand with the ability to 1-look F2L. I think in the future we might see someone(s) doing all that while influencing EO, possibly forcing ZBLL.
Some very nice solves from Yiheng. I’d just like to mention he’s not exactly using VLS on the 3rd solve. For that case it was actually a summer variation alg which skips OLL when you have EO done and a split pair. This is a subset of HLS which solves OLL from a split pair regardless of EO. Then there’s also winter variation (the more well known one) which solves OLL when you have EO and a built pair, and this is a subset of VLS which solves OLL from a built pair regardless of EO. Although technically in this case the optimal Summer variation alg sets up into a winter variation alg which most of the optimal summer variation algs will do hence why it’s not usually worth using and therefore not talked about as much and less well known.
Based on the title and thumbnail, I have a few predictions. My first immediate thought was "Did Yiheng get a Sub 3?". Then I checked WCA, and then remembered that WCA often waits awhile yea yea yea. On WCA, the only "First Time" I could find (before realizing WCA is probably outdated for now) is that Yiheng got a 4.00 XD (Yes. Until recently, no one had ever gotten a 4 flat XD) With the thumbnail looking like an average, I thought (still thinking WCA was up-to-date) was "Did Yiheng 1-look a full average???" XD
I remember a few years ago on CF, somebody predicted that the greatest speedcuber of all time will be from China and that their only purpose was to be the greatest speedcuber of all time. I guess they were right.
6:45 Remember, Full-step can be lucky XD (Example: D R2 // Cross R U R2' // F2L-1 U' R // F2L-2 L' U L2 // F2L-3 U' L' // F2L-4 R U R' U R U2 R' // OLL (Sune) R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' // PLL (Jb) )
People have been influencing pairs for a long time. The solutions were pretty easy for me to see myself and I am just an average 8 second solver. Like the xcrosses and pair influencing is nothing new or special even to me and we really should focus more on the fingertricks and inspection. For example, if you see a solved edge in inspection, you should do that as your second or third pair because you don't need to track the edge making it easy to see far into inspection or even just with basic lookahead. There are so many of these tricks that you can see if you just take a closer look at the pair choice, and nobody makes tutorials on these which I think is stopping some people from getting beyond sub 10.
Interesting. I’ve seen it a lot lately in Yiheng’s solutions in particular, it’s just kinda crazy to do some of those things whilst turning at 13+ TPS. I should talk about the fingertricks more tho, I agree
I personally don't think anybody will have the world record averege except yiheng for at least the entire year of 2024 and 2025. I do not realy get the argument that Tymon can beat him because I don't even think it is close if you look at yihengs results when he competes. Tymon has competed in countless comps to push his barrier to sub-5 which yiheng now gets like every comp, aint no way he will get an averege sub-4,5. I also think that the first sub-4 averege will not happen this year, but more realisticly 2026. Let me know if you agree
I mean realistically, yes, Yiheng definitely has the best chance to break sub-4 first. Tymon has been getting a lot of individual sub-4s that look effortless tho. There is always a chance someone else can at least break 4.48 with enough luck
He’s probably the most consistent I would say. Just go look at his recent 3x3 performances, he has averages that are just straight mid to low 5, which make him really good in championship finals like what we saw in Worlds.

It looks like yiheng got to the point that he doesn't need look ahead anymore since he can plan the entire f2l in inspection and solve it faster than the last layer lol.
imagine if he could look ahead oll and pll so he could literally do the full solve with no pauses
Xuanyi Geng is actually better at 1-looking f2l, but his solutions are less efficient and don't have fingertricks as good as Yiheng's solutions.

Back in Feliks era, you just need to use CN to find a easier cross or xcross. But to predict f2l, it takes much more inspection time.
Cn is still up in the air tbf. Chinese cubers major in white cross is due to the bootcamps always teach white cross, there are some top chinese cubers who learn cn eventually. Maybe Yiheng will reach a new high when he adopts cn.
@@cariyaputtaHe has already partially adopted CN, and the results are insane.

1:02 I don't remember which one he said it in, but in an interview, Yiheng said he knows all of WV, so that might be why
Maybe Antoine Cantin's? I was too lazy to watch the whole thing but that's the only interview I know exists.
@@godspeedrubiks After searching through RUclips I found out he said it at the very end of Cuberoot's interview with Yiheng.

Bro you are so underrated. I have been subbed to you since you were at like 4k subs or something

Yes you are 100% correct this is summer variation. I was just thinking about the 2nd part of the alg so I mistook it for VLS

If you can solve the cube in your head before you start, it is all about executing the moves as fast as possible. No need to slow down.
imagine yiheng in a few years learning 3bld and 1 looking the cube with full step cfop
Yiheng Wang is going to get the first sub 3 record for sure
And i thought Kyle Santucci's ao5 was crazy. Maybe i should consider buying a GAN 12.
yiheng wang being your favourite cubing youtuber is incredibly based
idk if people what those things... me when ive watched all the videos and subscribed.
where can i find yiheng wang’s video of him explaining his solves?
