Fisherman's Wharf is a tourist attraction in San Francisco, California. It roughly encompasses the northern waterfront area of San Francisco from Ghirardelli Square or Van Ness Avenue east to Pier 35. One of the busiest and well known tourist attractions in the western United States, Fisherman's Wharf is best known for being the location of Pier 39, the Cannery Shopping Center, Ghirardelli Square, a Ripley's Believe it or Not museum, the Musée Mécanique, Wax Museum at Fishermans Wharf, and the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.

In 2015 I visited San Francisco with my partner, we were younger and a little healthier than we have grown to be over the years. Recently I was hit with a bit of nostalgia and we talked about our time here. I never knew it was possible to fall in love with a place, to be home sick for a place that isn't even home. Thank you so much for this video, even now, 2 years after you posted it. This gave me a chance to "walk" the pier again despite my inability to do so and to feel the wonder and longing I have for San Francisco and its beauty again.

I lived 2 blocks away in some high rise near Francisco Street in 1979 as a kid and you talk about having the time of your life. My Dad was a waiter at some Italian restaurant on the Wharf that made pasta in the window during the day and they sold the best Italian bread pizza ever. I played whack a mole at the musee mecanique arcade everyday among other old games. They had a diving horse that was featured at a giant pool on the Wharf that had women that would synchronize swim there as well. I love that city...
When I see videos about the cities of America and its people, my tears fall because I wish to live in it and with its people, but I, my son and my daughter cannot reach them

I went to sanfran 2012 with my family for a holiday because I was told about the people wear so friendly and the beautiful place been 2 times I loved to go back sanfransisco and Cape Town are my favourite places I have visited I been all over the world lots of time but this place will always be one I will never forget thank love from Yorkshire UK

trips to Fisherman's Warf, so this was fun to see all the action.
I moved from the USA in 1974 and now live in Denmark. I don't
travel anymore, so this is so wonderful to be able to absorb
the atmosphere of the city. A trip down memory lane. Thanks

I live 25 minutes from San Francisco and legit never go there hahah born and raised in bay area and just don't have desire to visit; SF is so beautiful though ( what hasn't been destroyed by homelessness)

I loved San Fransisco I am from NYC and it was way colder than I ever imagined but it was beautiful and fun! And I went in the summer!
Mark Twain supposedly wrote that the coldest winter he ever felt was the summer he spent in San Francisco.
Same for me in 1978 on vacation by myself.
69-70 degrees during the summer in San Fransisvo feels cold compared to 80-85 degrees in New York City. Although if you go 10 miles south of downtown San Fransisco its usually 5-10 degrees warmer during the Summer.

Somebody actually painted white over the bottom part of the "B" on the "EAT CRAB" sign once and changed it to "EAT CRAP" during the late 80's. lmfao! 🤣🤣That was the best laugh I ever had visiting Pier 39! I was only a kid but thought it was funny.

Down further on Embarcadero is the fabulous Ferry Building and on further The Ramp restaurant, by the water facing Berkeley!
ugg why did you skip the musuem arcade. That place is one the most unique places at fishermans warf. Its not only free but is one of the biggest collections of vinigate old penny arcade machanines in the world. You acted as you were going towards it but then made a quick right. Some of the machines in that place are just jaw dropping.

It’s sad to see how much of a tourist trap the Wharf has become but I’m glad it’s giving our city lots of tourism revenue.
I agree with you about the tourist trap thing. I have been visiting California on and off since 1986 and i fell in love with the city of San Fransisco at first sight. I`m not so thrilled either about the way they have changed some places to attract more tourists, but i also understand why they have done it. I still love this town anyway, its an awesome town, feels like it are built on the top of the world, wish i could've visit more often. Sincerely Mikael Persson Sweden

I'm originally from Massachusetts, can you believe the furthest west I have been is my current residence in New Mexico? I so much want to visit and take in Fisherman's Wharf - Pier 39, the wife and I are thinking about taking a cruise out of San Diego with San Francisco one of the excursions. Nice walk! It is strange that some people wear jackets in early September in California. In the coastal places of my country (Greece) it is about 10 degrees Celsius hotter than SF in that time of the year.
its coastal San Francisco. The rest of the cities near there is 80-100 Fahrenheit in the summer time. Its a interesting concept of microclimates.

@WindWalkTravelVideos I wonder, is it possible to put the time stamps of each section on the video? That would be very helpful. I last visited San Francisco in 2001 with my American Grandma Pat. That was when our relationship flew south for the winter. She said things to me that I wish not to repeat, as they were so hurtful! I haven't spoken to her since 2014, and she hasn't changed since then! Anyway, I went to Pier 39, and I got a music box that plays, "I Left My Heart In San Francisco". That was the exciting part of my trip, but oh how I wish I could ride those cable cars! We stayed on my American Uncle Ron's houseboat in Sausalito for two days.

Too bad people can no longer experience the old Fisherman’s Wharf, the food was much-much better, the people were friendlier too. The old architecture was better, many natives (me included) to San Francisco do not like the modernization of the Wharf. The idea of fast food chains in the Fisherman’s Wharf does not sit well.
It’s just a tourist trap now. No reason to go there as an SF native

San Francisco native here. The city is great with a lot of culture, things to do and great food, entertainment and weather however Fisherman's Wharf is a total tourist trap.

@@patr70 I've lived abroad and travel abroad extensively. I would say California has amongst the best weather on earth. A few places match it like Portugal but not many. East of the rockies in the US is horrible bitterly cold winters and hot, humid summers and wouldn't want to live there. West of the rockies in the south west which includes California is nice most of the year but the inland areas summers is very hot but still dry. You have to live near the coast to have nice weather year round.

Mainly DownTown, Tenderloin, Viz Valley, certain parts of Market Street and some parts around GG Park.
