The Iron Horse Model Railroad is a RUclips channel featuring my N Scale Model Train layout the Iron Horse Route. Whether you are currently a model railroader or are considering getting into the hobby I would like to encourage you to subscribe. Those interested in modeling, engineering, automation, electronics, graphic design, art, sculpting, and/or railroad history will enjoy the videos produced here.
All of the models you see on our layout or in our videos are offered on sale on ETSY at the 'Iron Horse Hobbies SMK' and are custom designed kits by AJ and myself. We currently have 18 pre-designed kits (links are below) and can also do custom kits from a picture. We are also able to do kits that need to fit in unusual situations. Have some unused space? Send me a picture. We can fill it. We can make buildings dissolve into walls.

The Denver and Rio Grande Western Iron Horse Route is a N Scale model of the prototype railroad owned and maintained by the D&RGW in the early 1950’s. The trip between Denver’s Union Station and Winter Park, Colorado. The line is still in operation today and is referred to as the “Winter Park Express” or the “Ski Train”. The prototype train typically was an ABB unit with a maximum of 14 cars in length. The trip takes about 2 ½ hours and raises in elevation approximately 4,000 linear feet in 45 miles resulting in a minimum grade of 1.7%. The route passes through the famous Moffat Tunnel directly before exiting into Winter Park. The West portal of the Tunnel is located with ½ Mile of the Iron Horse Resort, resulting in the name of the route.

Whoa, there sure is a lot to love about this layout! But that little garage takes the cake! I was impressed with the doors opening, but then the mechanics inside started moving and working on the cars - awesome! I love all the automation and the actual scenes from the area that they recreated. They did a great job on this layout, I'd be spending the entire day drooling over it. To answer your question Brian, I think the harbor scene looks great, love the moving boat. The only thing is, the water is too flat. I can see why they did that with the automation, but would look more realistic with at least some ripples, waves, etc. Mind you, I"m not detracting from the scene - great job. Thanks for sharing this amazing layout Brian!

Question Brian. How do the workers get to the upper tracks if there is a problem with a train? Are there center opening for the workers to maintain the layout?

@@momandsontrainrailfans hey that’s a good question. I did not crawl under this layout, but what I found is that they usually have like little gopher holes. You can crawl under and pop up in places like some removable Ammas that are actually places where you can pop up and work one of the holes was in the O scale video I put out yesterday. I really appreciate you watching and commenting.
