Nice dedication to your father in the end of the video. Was truly moved seeing that. I know you have a another father in your life that raised you and helped with the first layout. I noticed you call him dad also. As a step father myself. I can tell you it means a lot to him that you call him dad. He deserves credit for being a father to you also. Great video again!
You're right, My step father is every bit my father and I'm always proud to introduce him as my father. For this video, I had just got the Lionel 2016 back from repair and decided to throw it on the track. I couldn't help but think how he would have gotten a kick seeing how far I've gone with this hobby. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
The hobo union called. They said, that you're missing the hobo camp.
😂😂😂
Maybe some homeless meth-heads wandering around Jason’s town like zombies would be more prototypical these days 😜
Bummer
They’re doing fentanyl
I'm not sure what all the hobo camp hype is about, but LOLOLOLOL
Nice. That mountain is cool and absolutely massive. The Conrail units are perfect. The lead unit, SD70mac, was actually a CSX order. They changed the Conrail SD80mac order to SD70macs before the takeover. You can hide that mismatch in the backdrop by using power lines and their respective towers and run them right over the mountain. I see this in many areas as I drive through PA on my way to Atlantic City. Maybe even a microwave tower, which are also on numerous peaks. Either way, the layout is looking excellent.
Awesome Mountain, but the best part was watching you Dad’s train at the end Jason. 🚂😃
I'm glad you liked that
Beautiful layout. Few O Guage layouts capture the feeling of big spaces the way yours does. The mountain alone approaches the size of my next HO layout. Also got a kick out of seeing Lake State 1502. These little Lake State switchers hang out in Port Huron, operating the former GTW "paper spur". Again, thoroughly enjoyable.
Awesome addition to the layout! My layout's getting a big change here shortly. In the process of buying a house back in the town I grew up in. In the backyard is a 26x30 foot detached garage that already has insulated doors and walls. With a little fixing up and climate control, my layout (which is thankfully sectional) will soon be getting a new and bigger home.
Big layout, big mountain. Nice. Thanks for giving some how to detail. We're about to add mountains and some tunnels to our trainboard and are glad to see your alternative methods. Much appreciated. Gary
Love that end cab switcher. Breaking up the parallel lines definitely makes it feel organic, like it grew there over time.
Mountain construction description should be memorialized in a Scenery Book! Is the fastest and cleanest appearing approach I’ve seen during my 50 years in the hobby!
This may be my favorite comment. I'm so glad you appreciate it
Thank-you! Looking forward to the future updates!
Epic Mountain you constructed. I am a total sucker for mountains and tunnels. Looking fantastic!
Watched a couple of your videos over the years but Chris from RBP trains reminded of your channel. Really like how far your layout has come and how you have blended a lot of different elements. Your mountain looks great! Inspiring me to do some more with my son on our layout. Thanks for sharing-well done on the video production as well.
I really like the mountain! Covering up that backdrop seem was a big bonus. The way you built it sounds simple and affordable. I want to try this method on my layout. I agree on the angle of the town. I am really enjoying watching your progress on the layout. Thanks so much for sharing. I enjoy your personality and I hope to meet you someday. Perhaps at York. Take care.
Yup, just save your cardboard boxes and spare plywood lol. I'll be at Oct York
That's one massive mountain you got there Jason. It is cool to see a train disappear into a mountain and not reappear for a minute or two. Thanks for the update!
Super cool you were a member of TBDBITL. My dad was a tuba player back in the early 70's, he got to "dot the i" as well. The layout is looking really good!
What a great update #14 video Jason. The progress is outstanding. I love the SD40-2 addition.
The tribute to your birth father was very heartfelt.
I really like the road angled, it gives the layout more depth. Also happy to see another conrail addition.
you have done a great job of fitting the profile of your mountain , to your back drops
I'm glad you noticed and appreciated that!
Wow Jason the layout really has changed, now that the mountain is in place. I can’t wait to see when you get the second one built. Thanks for sharing your progress and how you’re building the mountains. I might need to use some of your technique.
Jason. I love how your railroad is coming along. The mountain and tunnel system look great. Thank you for sharing your progress.
Terrific thinking and following through...well done Jason 👍 The mountain already looks realistic in this first stage. The construction paper creases give it a natural appearance without carving from other materials.
Looks great, Jason. There is a lot more color at the head of your trains these days. Love the progress. Cheers
I'm glad someone noticed!
Looks awesome man love that mountain
The back side of the mountain looks like Cajon Pass in So Cal!!!!! Nice work!! thx
Fantastic job on the mountain! I like the way you made it blend into the background. I’m very interested in the technique you use to make the mountain. I hope you share your secrets and spend time detailing it.
I will give brief overviews in my future videos
Nice work building the mountain Jason. You built an awesome collection of engines and rolling stock. Looking forwarded to seeing the mountain completed. I'm sore your dad is looking down on you and your amazing layout. Have a great day. Nick
Hey, Jason. Mountain looks very realistic. Great addition to the layout. Love that Conrail Quality too. Also, just took a vacation up to Lake Erie last week and stopped by Stockyard Express on my way home. I took the trip with my friend and we got to chat with Clyde. Bought 3 NKP green passenger cars and the NS 1801 SD70ACC!
Awesome! I'll be there in a couple weeks
Thanks for this great update on your layout progress, Jason. You've sure added some interesting locos and rolling stock to the collection. I find the Lake State Railroad pieces the most interesting because I've not heard of it before. Looks like many great people got to Train-A-Palooza this year and there were 2 of them! I know Zach from Country Bunkers Trains was glad he made the trip. The mountain is just awesome, but I don't remember your planning to create a second one. Can't wait to see that. Like the angled look of the town. Adds a lot of dynamic interest. Lastly, congrats on 15K subs! I am not surprised. Looking forward to your next update!
Thank you Tom!
JD I’m so proud of you man, I’ve been watching you since 6th grade and I’m now 21! You’ve made strides!
Thanks for watching for so long. Glad you enjoyed it
The mountain looks fantastic Jason! I also really like the town not being perfectly parallel to the layout. Makes it look more realistic somehow.
Your making great progress. Love the size of the mountain. The most moving part was the Lionel highballing it past the town.
Jason the tunnel looks great I think the town looks better with the road running at a angle it breaks up the squareness of the layout
Wow, Jason, your layout is really looking great! I do like the way you have placed your town roadway at an angle to the track at the front of the layout. The location of the station looks good as well. Very nice. You gave a wonderful update. That new Conrail locomotive is a great addition as is the NS SD40-2 which I really like. The SD40-2 looks right at home. I wonder why, lol. Loved being able to attend this year's get together and to see your wonderful layout in person for a second time. Exciting review which makes excited to see future developments. Jason, thank you! Bill B.
Thanks Bill. So glad you got to see it a few weeks ago.
That's a great tribute!!!! Awesome mountain build too!
Incredible mountain..wow!
JD, great video. You do so much with large scale layouts!
That mountain is amazing! Like you, I like when you lose sight of the trains when they go behind a mountain / in a tunnel. Main street looks great at an angle vs straight.
Awesome job with the layout, looking amazing. I would have to agree with you in the angle of the town compared to the tracks, gives the appearance of depth.
Glad you like it!
Holy Norfolk Southern! What an awesome layout progress update! The size and scale of the mountain is incredible. It adds so much height and weight to that section. Thanks for sharing your mountain construction technique. Really nice adds to the roster especially the Conrail caboose with smoke unit. Looking forward to seeing it in action. And you’re overall video is so smooth and natural. You could be in sales…LOL! Keep up the great work!
LOL, good thing I'm a sales manager
Love the 80 Mac. I still miss them.
Hey Jason, The layout looks phenomenal!! Also the Tribute to your birth father was a beautiful finally!
Your layout is looking fantastic, and I love that mountain, great job JD!
Thank you!
Very impressive!! Thanks for sharing!!
Awesome update and love the mountain and your new items Jason!!!
Outstanding update Jason! Love your technique for building mountains. I used your code on Trainz a month ago to buy a MTH NS GP38-2 with PS2. Very happy with it.
Awesome! Thanks for using the code
Amazing layout. So fun to watch the progress and dream of someday being able to do something this grand!! Thanks for posting :)
Layout looks very extraordinary very realistic looking ✨️✨️✨️✨️👍🏻
Jason the mountains look great! Well done. Beautiful dedication to your Dad.
Your going to be a great Dad too some day!!
Looks awesome Jason hopefully I can make it to the Palooza next year it looked like a blast
Now that's a mountain. Very nice jd.
Looking incredibly good 👍 👌
Nice looking mountain 👌🏾
SD40-2 is my favorite evil “modern” loco.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Well done, Jason! Your mountain makes the two upper levels appear to be at a much higher elevation than before--very cool. I'm hoping to get back to OH! to attend Clyde's picnic on the 19th. Love the tribute to your Dad--heart-warming photo and surprise appearance of his/your Lionel 2-6-4 Adriatic 😃👋
I will be there!
Bummed I'm unable to join you. @@JDStucks
I love the layout update, colors on LS switcher do stand out, "wow" that is a mountain and it looks fantastic, you will have very nice mountain scenes when the layout is finished!!! Awesome PS: BNSF DPU powered or unpowered? Thanks
Its unpowered. In fact, the only dummy engine in my collection.
Well you've been quite busy there young man the mountain definitely looks good can't wait to see you start adding some scenery detail to and I said keep the town at an angle it does add visual keep up the awesome work they're 👍👍
GEEZ JD. That's incredible!! Love your layout/setup.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Thanks for the update Jason. The mountain makes the layout much more interesting to look at. Maybe add some height differences in the town scene to make it look a bit more interesting and it will also make a more natural connection with the mountain. Enjoy the hobby and I'm looking forward to the next update. Jasper
I made our train layout kid friendly. I’m not sure why I don’t see that very often. Example the table is painted a black satin enamel to mimic asphalt. Then striped for roads. I sponged painted for grassy areas (different colors of green). I also made the buildings movable. In case my son wants to shows me a derailment disaster 😂😂 Basically make it fun. Painted surfaces makes for easy clean up. Trees are just holes for easy removal. Lights and track are the only things mounted to the layout.
Just joining you for the first time! Great looking layout so far. As far as your backdrop being 'misaligned' at a joint, take note of the original movie 'The Thing From Another World' (Howard Hawks fame) and the backdrop used to show the sky when they went to find the UFO crash site. Some clouds are 'misaligned'! Hollywood had its backdrop issues too! I like the idea of painting your ceiling joists dark gray or black, good effects for the lighting.
Great job, great addition.
Great video Jason that Mountain looks amazing you planned it very well with the access holes underneath THANKS FOR SHARING HUGS FOR SHELBY GOD BLESS ;-)
Awesome Mountains !!
Looks Great!
This just made my day!
Great video Jason! The mountain is amazing and I like the angled road in the city. Just a thought, but you might put a thin divider inside the tunnel between the top line and the middle line. I could see the triple crown train through the other tunnel as it was going up the hill. Loved the sound system on the SD40-2 and seeing your dad's postwar blow through town was a nice touch at the end! I know your dad is looking down and smiling! Thanks for sharing your layout and Train-a-Palooza with us! ~Ricky
I'll add more dividers if I can, but space is already pretty tight between the tracks. Thanks for the tip and glad you enjoyed the video
@JDStucks you're welcome! You're a huge inspiration to so many, including myself. Might try using 1/4" masonite since it is thin and rigid.
Loved the update great progress
What can I say. Awesome update as usual. Love the Conrail and Ohio State billboard addition. Cannot wait for the next update. Great job.
Outstanding
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful ! ! ! !
Again!! What a GREAT video!! Really enjoyed it!!!
Hey Jason! Your layout is looking mighty fine. I am an HO and N scale guy myself but can appreciates other's love for O Gauge/Scale model railroading. In previous times, O Gauge really put me off with the locomotives in particular. Pilot attached trucks, oversized couplers/details, etc. I think that your trains actually look really good though and work well with the broader curves that you have in place. I'm looking forward to seeing more progress on the layout. I'd love to see some locomotive/rolling stock weathering in the future if you're into that type of stuff. That would make for an interesting video in my opinion. It would certainly grab my attention too, lol! Anyways, and again. Nice work and great job as always. See you in the next one...
Great update!
Wow! What a difference that made can’t wait to see the next mountain.
That mnt. Is so awesome can't wait till the next step of the plaster cloth
Just subscribed. Love the video, now I’ll have to go see some/all of previous ones.
The mountain looks great just as is, seams and all. Good enough to allow working on other parts of LO without sacrificing much to the overall feel of realism. Great job!
Nice tribute too. My first train set was an American Flyer freight set that I got for Christmas n 1957. My father sat with me and played trains, so I got the bug early on, been a train buff ever since.
Looking forward to more updates.
Awesome 🎉
Nice layout Jason! Great channel! It’s good to see you again. I’ll see Alex next week and I’ll say hello and share this if he doesn’t have it. Take care!
I really enjoyed your old layout, and this one looks like it will be a great one.👍
Mountains baby! Excellent work!
Looks dam good I love it you're killing the competition.... I live in Kentucky NS my favorite as well
Looking 👀 real good Jason
Just wow! The mountain makes it look like a whole new layout. Well done.
No new coal cars though...
Actually..... three new ones were added LOL I just didn't highlight them in the video haha
Have you ever seen the black diamond railway O gauge layout? Yours really reminds me of it. Used to be my favorite layout when I was younger.
My layout was directly inspired by his. I talk about Black Diamond Railway in my videos often and how they've helped me through the years. Rich Battista is a great modeler.
Looks awesome!!!
I wonder if a cell phone antenna would look cool up on Mount Buckeye. 😎👍
Very cool Lake State items!!!
LOL now that's a good name for a mountain!
AWESOME!!!!
Nice video Jason I am from Holland Michigan
Love the 80’ boxcars. Just an idea from me, make a rail park with a caboose dedicated to your father, just an idea that you may like
Floor joists, I beam, plumbing and plywood, all look nice charcoal gray/black with flood lighting. Was it all sprayed finish? Good idea as it maintains full access and looks nice.
I sprayed it with dryfall black paint from Sherwin
Nice job looks really nice!!
Iwill be remodeling my 4x12 N scale Amtrak layout sometime this year I will be model the Amtrak depot at Springfield Massachussets ;-)
At last: someone who runs trains at a realistic speed
LOLOL
Very cool nice job
I love the new layout, love how the mountain came together. Can’t wait to see what is to come in the future!
Amazing layout update. Blake, Henry and me will probably go to trainpalooza 2024
