This is exactly how I feel about nursing. I came from corporate America, got laid off twice, and was absolutely done with it. Nursing was the best decision my wife and I have ever made. We are in a much better place in our lives because of our profession. So, this video really hits close to home. Keep up the great vids!
I was a 28 yr old single mom working jobs that paid slave wages. I always wanted to be a nurse but didn’t think I was smart enough. Turns out I took a night class and it showed me I was smart enough. Signed up for prerequisite classes to apply for for the program the week before classes started! I was on dean’s list the whole time I was in school, worked part time as nursing (tech) aid. Never looked back! Graduated in 92 with honors! Retired now after an accident but miss it a lot!
Having the 100% mindset is critical, it the differentiating factor on whether you achieve your goals or not. You are such an inspiration, Dr Cellini, you begin another career after having an career, thank you!!!
This was fantastic because it is so real. You didn’t sit there prescribing what someone should do; instead, you described what you did and how you did it. I work in mental health and I love my profession. I definitely don’t get paid the big bucks, but I experience genuine fulfillment and happiness because of it.
Really needed this right now. I’m 23 and about to graduate as an MD in Paraguay. My dream is to be a radiologist in the US but sometimes it feels very far off and almost impossible. I don’t have any guarantees that any of it will happen but I trust God to guide me and despite being a crybaby about a lot of the work I’m totally willing to give it a shot. You never know if you never try, right 🙌
Currently phlebotomist/medical assistant (working two different jobs). And I'm about to start premed in the spring, I want to be an MD more than anything. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation that my efforts aren't for nothing
Im 25 and have worked in sales, manufacturing and customer service. I have no degree and I’m ready to start college this year to begin my long journey to becoming a physician. I feel like working in the real world before going to college gave me a lot of confidence and time to think about what I really want to do.
I'm late to the game.. I started over at 28 and still in school. But I'm ready for the change! I'll hopefully be in my desired position by age 40 and feel like I have a purpose 🎉 congrats to you! Hard work pays off
First off, most sincerely I off my Congratulations on your success! As an RN of 25 years, I fully appreciate the commitment, dedication & perseverance it takes to become an attending physician. Yet, on the other hand, I think, Damn, 14 years to get to a place where you're finally happy?? That's a whole lotta life of not being so happy. I write this just as a message to those of us who love to read the comments of a video because I think it's important to find a way to find happiness in the place where we are in life, to find those pockets of joy in life. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain" (author Vivian Greene).
Such a relief to hear... One of my preceptors said enjoy your time now because it's not gonna get easier and that was such a depressing thing to say. I'm grateful for your video to dispel the negativity. I knew it would be worth it in the end!!
I like how you are so passionate and resolved with the medicine journey! Definitely agree with the commitment and not having plan B because becoming a doctor has no room for second guessing
Great vid. As a current MS1 the workload is a bit much and hit me like a truck. Definitely a bit burnt out from studying the past week but this reignited me a bit. Thanks man!
As a junior doctor (and RUclipsr btw!) I have trained myself to forget about the destination - being a consultant (or attending) is so far away for me that I try to just enjoy the process and the journey. But when I take a step back and reflect on the job… i doubt i can do it forever and watching this video gave me insight I didn’t know I needed … That there is a end (or at least a plateau) to the grind ha! Thanks again for a great video Dr Cellini!
Thank you so much for sharing your journey this far and will continue to watch you on RUclips and more in the near future. I love every minute of your videos on RUclips ‼️‼️Continued success to you and your wife‼️‼️
Yesss I love this! I am in my first year out of 5 of my math PhD program with the goal of being a professor. It is SO hard and I have lots of moments where I’m exhausted and question my capabilities but this is a HUGE motivation!
What!!! I was doing high rise leasing in Atlanta and had opportunities to be an assistant manager and move up and around at lease ups. I’m in nursing school and this gives me so much peace.
I've been to Scotland, Morocco, and Belize in the last 5 years or so and would highly recommend all of them! Glad to hear you're happy and enjoying life! 🙂
There is no shortcut. Worked 20 years as social worker - loved it, but needed a change. Fast 4ward 10 years working part time, attending school 🏫 as a single mom 👩 & made a career change: education AND authored MY 1st BOOK! 📖 * Was it hard? Yes! * Was it a long haul? Yes! * Were sacrifices made? Yes! * Did others have fun while I worked nights 🌙 & weekends? Yes! ♥️ Was it worth the sacrifices?ABSOLUTELY! ♥️ It's never 2 late to change directions 🙂
I'm a radiologist. I hate my career. Its not that I hate Radiology, I hate medicine in general. But I never had the courage to switch careers! I think of starting a new career every single day. But at 33 I think my options are limited, and the only thing I'm good at is medicine!
Current pre med with a similar mindset lol. I’m 100% in it, I have no goal other than getting into med school and becoming a surgeon regardless of how long it’ll take. I don’t see myself doing anything else
Hope we can find our own happiness. To everyone who's reading this keep working hard and be kind always. You got this!! Btw. congrats Dr. Cellini you made it!!!!
Me, I'm that person! I've been in corporate America doing accounting to help someone else get rich and not feeling fulfilled myself. I'm now 37, a mom and a wife but I am currently trying to get into school for Radiology for me. I keep saying I'm accept to manifest it.
That's so nice for u to help those who were in your shoes when u massively changed fields. I'm so happy your in a good place in your life. PS u should brag! U deserve too. So so proud of u. U did it your way!! 👏👏👏👏💯
ER DOC HERE ! GLAD YOU ARE HAPPY. MY PERSONAL TAKE IS.....IS NOT ABOUT THE DESTINATION, IS THE JOURNEY. SO I AM SOOOO HAPPY EVERY SINGLE DAY I GET INTO WORK AS A RESIDENT AND STILL HAVE 500k IN DEBT.... PEOPLE WASTE THEIR LIVES WORKING ON BEING HAPPY AND NEVER ACTUALLY "JUST BE HAPPY"
Same thing here! Working in Banking 6 years now and Just started nursing school. I am so excited for this career, its almost as if i’m 20 again. I came into nursing school, took out student loans and told myself I AINT FAILING lol.
I needed this so much. I’m in undergrad studying engineering, but I’ve always had a voice inside my head telling me I should be trying to do medicine. I’ve been on an internship this semester, and I have not enjoyed it at all. I have been researching like Dr. Cellini about getting into med school, but unfortunately I’m scared of failing. I don’t know what I will do if I don’t get in. This fear has paralyzed me from even starting to pursue my dream.
If you fail, you reapply the next year! It’s really not the end of the world. Hard work WILL get you into medical school just like it will get you through it. With that being said, a lot of people do get in on their first try, but they also work extremely hard and make the necessary sacrifices to do so. You can do it!
You should go to London if you ask me! Loved it after studying in Mexico for 2 mos.,Madrid for 2 mos all while in college. After growing up in Wisconsin and putting myself through college and not having any family so to speak of. I was in an institution from the age of eight thru high school at which time I went out on my own and putting myself thru college. Went into education to teach. In California got my 5th year to get my life credential to teach in California. As they require 5 yrs in California to teach. So I not only had a secondary credential but now an ECE credential in California. Knew I free to do as I wanted and had loved my traveling education and no family holding me back. I eventually did get married in California with 2 step children that I loved as my own!
This is so encouraging! Thanks Dr.Cellini! I just started my first year of dental school and I already feel overwhelmed with my anatomy and histology classes!:) Love your channel! Congrats!
Having worked with and serviced radiology equipment for more than 20 years, I've been in hundreds of hospitals and clinics and can't even count the number of doctors and nurses I've met who started out in other fields before they got into healthcare. It was rather surprising.
It's been so cool to follow along with your journey through the whole process, glad you're doing well Doctor C and are content and happy with what you've achieved it's awesome! You're an inspiration to me as someone who hopes to become a physician one day. The is it worth it question is something I ask myself even though I am not in medical school yet. I think the keep pushing through mentality you have is super important and I'm trying to develop that myself

Hey Dr. Cellini, thanks for doing this video. I´m actually 24 yo and about to enter imaging residency, in part because the things you show about the specialty which btw, i love. I still have some doubts and fears, but just like you said, i´m moving forward, knowing that in the end, it will all be worth it.
Hi Dr. Cellini, this is a great motivator to keep going for sure! I’m not in medicine, but I work in sales and your work ethic inspires to keep on achieving - thank you so much 👍💯
Currently feeling this now! I was originally a nursing student and always wanted to be a nurse and just help people. I worked my butt off and applied to nursing school but I applied during the spring of 2020 which is the same time the pandemic hit. They ended up denying me but waiving my chance and saying that it was because of covid they had to shut down their campuses. I was super discouraged and I felt lost because I went through a lot of work to get there. I ended up switching my major to healthcare administration and am currently working a 8-5 job at a clinic. Although I can appreciate the business side of healthcare, that thought in the back of mind about going back to nursing school hasn’t left me. Now I am a senior about to graduate with my bachelors of science in health care administration in the spring BUTTTT I made the decision that I’m going to try and apply to nursing school again and see what happens. I didn’t think much of it because I’m working a corporate job I hate and at this point what is there to lose when I already feel like I hit rock bottom. Anyway fast forward to last Friday, I’m sitting in my lecture when I get an email saying that I have been accepted into the nursing program!!! My heart sank to my stomach and I felt so much excitement. I will never forget that day because I got to a point in my life where I realized that I would rather do something I love (nursing) then do something convenient (health admin). So now I’m going to be graduating a year later but I will be getting my BSN and I have no regrets, not a single one. This is all I’ve ever wanted to do and I’m very lucky I realized all of this now that if you really want something, go for it. The only thing in your way is your own self doubts.
Kind of the opposite here. Recent college grad here with no plan and kind of regret majoring in biology 😅. Now, considering going back for business or data analytics.
Where I am located; it would be stupid of me not to try to go into medical programs here because its less then a mile away from where i live as well how cheap it is compare to anywhere else i ever lived or looked at. Most people I go to school with are either becoming nurses or going into dental. One out a dozen would be people like me who are going into radiology. im hoping by next year i will attempt my first try to get into the medical program. It will be worth it. I am sick at working in restaurants as a cook.
Currently 5 months in to my job at Morgan Stanley after 7 years of education. I was moved to part time in order to get my series 7/66 licenses so I'm stuck in a limited hour, limited pay position until I'm licensed. I feel like I've been living on scraps and pennies for almost 10 years now. The other day one of our brokers made 600k in commissions on one deal and now this? I couldn't be more fired up. Almost there!
Dr… please make a video on how you managed to travel during med school or residency! traveling is something i need to do how do you even have the time to do so? is it much easier now that you’re an attending? thanks Doc 😁
Congratulations @Dr. Cellini. Happy for you. My story is sad. I am an advanced physical rehab nurse and because it is an outside usa degree i can't make use of it. Getting an MPH and a Ph D in the usa still didn't give me a job. Some times i have hard time making the rent. My entusiasm is fainting away slowly but surelly... any advice would be helpfullllll..
Can you do a video of how you prepare for the switch from corporate to med school? Aside from post bacc program, what work and research did you do in those years prior to med school? I am looking into the same path but I dont know where to start
This is exactly how I feel about nursing. I came from corporate America, got laid off twice, and was absolutely done with it. Nursing was the best decision my wife and I have ever made. Awww sweet. Im a student nurse in canada. I’ll be subbing
As an M2 who's wondering if this will all be worth it in the end, I needed this.
It is. Trust in the process
M1, I feel this haha
@@DrCellini 76ers been saying this far too long, LMAO.

Proud of your journey Dr. Cellini!!!
Working towards nursing school and this was what I needed this morning to keep pushing. Love your videos! Congrats on the happiness 👏 you guys deserve it 😊
Motivated me a lot
You deserve to be happy!! Great video!
Hi Michael! I'm happy that your are happy! :D I always leave a comment on your videos on Sundays but I watch all of them! On Wednesdays, I'm working when you release your video! You should go to New Zealand! :)

Honestly inspirational

Your vlog is truly inspirational!! I’m so happy for you!!!

You should consider travelling to Kapadokya, 🇹🇷
Congratulations @Dr. Cellini. Happy for you. My story is sad. I am an advanced physical rehab nurse and because it is an outside usa degree i can't make use of it. Getting an MPH and a Ph D in the usa still didn't give me a job. Some times i have hard time making the rent. My entusiasm is fainting away slowly but surelly... any advice would be helpfullllll..
Can you do a video of how you prepare for the switch from corporate to med school? Aside from post bacc program, what work and research did you do in those years prior to med school? I am looking into the same path but I dont know where to start
This is great motivational video
How old were you when you decided to leave the corporate job?
