- Janae Edmondson took the witness stand Thursday morning. Janae recounted her father tying a belt tightly around her legs while her mother held her face and told her, "Don't close your eyes. You have to stay awake." She kept repeating those words back to herself when she was taken away in an ambulance without her parents, and she said her eyes were open all the way to the hospital.

When driving a vehicle illegally and involved in an accident, even innocent, this driver is still guilty. This driver should not have been on any road ever. Guilty.
Bizzare how it made it to trial, how is there a defence

What a POS Defense Lawyer! How do you morally defend Daniel?? Doesn't have a DL, High on drugs, Flying down the road AND the collision isn't his fault?? He's trying to blame another driver that Daniel hit! BS!!

Daniel is driving an Audi.. now and Audi is known to be a European sports car.. can you put your pedal to the metal and you will be hauling ass.. the dude did not have a license his ass should not have been behind the damn wheel.. And he was high on Fentanyl.. he's guilty that poor gal lost her legs because of him.. her life will never be the same.. and she has a long life ahead of her.. I say 30 years behind bars wouldn't be long enough..
Thank God Janae was a multi-sport athlete and in superb condition. Her survival was both a miracle and a result of her previous conditioning for her beloved sports. She will compensate for her losses by directing her discipline and determination to other ways to excel. Mr. fentanyl and codeine will still amount to nothing.
I think she’ll go into wheelchair sports,or commentary.Never give up,on whatyou love.

This kid is absolutely guilty of reckless driving resulting in severe damage to another human being . Driving after using illegal drugs! This kid needs to be barred from ever having a driving license! He needs to be sent to prison for no less than 15 years -to 25 years in jail. He should be put on lifetime parole! He should have to get a job with in 60 days of release from prison. on third of his earning should go to the victims of the collision! His Mother should be tried to the delinquent action of her son ! She should be sent to prison for 3-5yrs .
If the lawyers daughter was walking from her tournament and crushed every organ in her body, severed both her legs at 17. She self conscious about herself and lost her scholarship he wouldn't be standing there asking the juror to forgive this black man whose a thug using drugs , to let him walk free!! Hell no he'd be pissed he acts as if janae is nothing. He knows that guy had no emotions as all officers said!! But of course the jurors can see hes guilty if they were blind. I don't like the lawyer.
I get it. But he’s got a job to do. We either have a constitutional judicial system or we don’t. Someone needs to defend the defenseless. That’s the beauty of our system. If he fails to do an adequate job, the case gets overturned. That means more pain for the victim and her family. Put it this way: if your daughter was driving badly, maybe texting or talking to friends in the back seat, and killed someone crossing the road, you’d want a lawyer to defend your kid in court.

This young man or thug depending on who you talk to…. did NOT go out that night with the intent to get into an accident that caused such a severe injury to this INNOCENT YOUNG LADY… However, he was hauling ass and taking drugs… AND thought he was invincible as most people do … especially until the age of 28-30 for most men and women.
Although I would have a bit more empathy for the guy if he was only texting and had the accident. I watched a sentencing of two young high school men that were “good young men”. There parents had bought them nice fast cars for either graduation or getting into college and they were racing home from the gym during daylight hours.. no drugs, alcohol. But one of the vehicles crashed into a pedestrian and her child that was in a stroller as they were crossing the street. To hear her parents and her husbands victim impact statements were difficult. The kid was speeding way too fast!!! And he had some kind of box in his car that shows speeds, etc and it showed him hauling ass multiple times….this was just the first crash.. I really felt bad for the young man too.

Was he driving his mother’s car?
Did his mother know he didn’t have a license?
Did his mother let him drive the car or did she report the car as stolen?

@@TheeDanIslander The girl could have died from one leg chopped off from the impact on the day, she only survived because her dad is an army medic and was trained in disastrous injury. He saved her life and used the girl's blanket that she was wearing and a standbyer's belt to slow the bleeding. Another volleyball player's father is a doctor and came in to help with the girl's vitals etc. If it wasn't for her dad and the Player's dad. This would be a manslaughter trial. Daniel has criminal history and was not supposed to be out. He had his tracker on and violated the terms of his bond so many times!

Sad the defense attorney turned this trial into a joke with his closing argument and he made himself look very incompetent. Points he was not bright enough to reveal in his questioning he tried to lay out in his closing.

The defense lawyer is trying to blame the person who hit Daniel, seriously. If he would not have been driving because he had no license this would not have happened. He was speeding, on drugs, no license, showing off, speeding. If he was not on the road this wouldn’t have happened. I’m getting so mad I want to jump in the screen and say something. 🤬😡 He is Guilty Guilty Guilty. He took her life in a sense, yes she is alive but not really 17 and the dreams you had have become harder to achieve, mentally, physically and financially she is going through a nightmare.

I don't think the Prosecution did herself any favors by continuously objecting during the Defense's closing. Even the judge overruled a few, calling them argumentative.
