      @@jspcreate I’ve subscribed to your channel and saved some videos into a playlist. I’m starting to crochet again and the tutorials are so helpful and clear. The only thing I cannot do is hold the yarn in my left hand as all experts seem to do. I use yarn and hook in the one hand… even knitters now seem to hold yarn in other hand. I can’t do it and it makes it look so easy!

    • @jspcreate
      @jspcreate  11 месяцев назад

      That is great you have started to crochet again. I would say do what works best for you, I think it could be handy to hold the hook and yarn in the same hand. It leaves the other hand free to multi task. I would think it would be similar to "throwing" the yarn in knitting. If you really want to change it, you can try a little everyday as it will take practice to unlearn and relearn it, but if you are happy with your results, then definitely stick to what you are already doing. Crochet will be more fun for you, I think, to do what is comfortable for you. I do get it can be confusing if you are trying to follow a tutorial with the other method, but just ignore where they are holding the yarn, and just pay attention to what the hook itself is doing. Hope that helps. Thanks for subscribing

    • @campsbaysa
      @campsbaysa 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@jspcreate Thabks for the advice and yes I do try to see what the hook is doing and you’re exactly right, I crochet as I learned to knit with that “throw” method, and my results are just fine so as you say, whatever works for me comfort and ability wise, I’ll stick to it… cheers!

    I've crocheted since I was a child, but I had to teach myself. So my crochet was basic at best. But I got arthritis 20yrs ago and gave it up because of pain. A few months ago It occurred to that my hands were better on my new meds. So now I have so much yarn and having the internet to see tutorials has vastly improved my crocheting. And Jane's videos has inspired be to grow my skills. I have adapted her little granny square to fit into a quilt I'm doing. I think it looks great.

    Hi, ive just started to crochet recently, and im making this blanket for my grandaughter, im using pinks and beige and white and its turning out beautifully. At first i could not get the magic circle so i decided to do all of the ones needed for the full blanket, as practice makes perfect so i made six of each colour im using (6) by the end i found them very easy. I thought i would apply this method to turning the circle into a square so i compleated 12 of the full circles and now im doing the squares, ive done 4 and now finding it very easy, i thought this method might help any other beginners. I would also like to say a big thank you for providing the free patterns and videos as i am retired and dont have a lot of spare cash, however i will be purchasing some of the more complicated patterns as i go along to support your channel 😊

      Really great tip. Sometimes I do this too, as it makes the process seem easier when there are alot of the same square. It is like muscle memory, the more you do at one time, the faster they go. It also helps the brain part, as you can learn one rnd and then do it a whole bunch of times. Thanks for sharing this tip, I agree, good tip for beginners and experienced as well. This pair is Karen Kay Buckley Perfect Scissors. They have a slight serrated edge that makes them not pull the yarn, I love them and they have lasted me years and years! I left a link in the video description below to see them on Amazon ( affiliate link ) but I got mine at a quilt shop about 10+ years ago. Highly Recommend these.

      @@jspcreate Didn't you do several crochet books years ago?? (Ok- I just had to Google your name to get the book's names😆)
      But I bought the Crocheted Aran Sweaters and More Crocheted Aran Sweaters books back then, and it was the sweater on the cover of the second book that I made in a kelly green color and it came out beautiful but I should have used like a DK weight yarn because I used worsted weight yarn and the sweater was so heavy and bulky that you couldn't wear it under a coat- lol!! Thanks a lot for this excellent video. The only thing that didnt quite "fell down" for me was the additional slip stitch on the 6th round to reach the wanted space for beginning the edge stitches but i will test some alternatives. Thanks again.

      Well I did it finally. I skipped the slip stitches (don't like them) and inserted a new yarn and color in the instructed chain space and that came out very well according to your pattern. I really appreciate your elegant way of starting a new round of sc's, these seem to minimise the amount of yarn in that first stitch Thanks again.

    Really like the colors used in this one as well as the others you made!

    I am always confused as to what to get for yarn so it turns out delicate and beautiful!

    • @jspcreate
      @jspcreate  10 месяцев назад

      I use a #4 Worsted Weight yarn, The #3 does come out more delicate, for lighter blankets or summer sweaters. I like the #4 most of the time, but I will use both.

    I just finished my first Little Skye Granny Square in green tones. I’m happy with the results.
    Now…… the agony is going to be what to do with the tails so the backside looks neat.

    Can you please work up a video to help us with that ?

      Yes, working the tails as you go along and hiding them in the work, then you don't have to do it at the end.

    Hello. Beautiful work. It seems quite a loose square, is it necessary to do the one chain between each stitch, would it be a tighter square without that single stitch. I thought I would follow your pattern for a square then try one without that stitch between. Your thoughts please?

    • @jspcreate
      @jspcreate  2 месяца назад

      Thanks so much. Really good question. I always say experimenting is good. Depending on the yarn I am using and the look I want to achieve, I will change up the need for ch sts. They are just there to create space. I use them in this case to create a looser square that feels softer for a blanket, based on the yarn I used. I would say, try it without the ch st between and see if you like it. Again, ch spaces really are just space holders, they give me a softer square. If I create a square without them and it pulls or puckers, I will go back and add them in. Sometimes they will be a square flare out, then I go back anre remove them. But the beauty of the texture in crochet is both will work, they just give slightly different results. Let me know how this works out for you. Enjoy!

    I am left handed and I am self taught, your are awesome and truly talented, my problem is for years I have tried the magic ring, and just cannot seem to get it,so with this do I just chain 2 and slip-stitch and chain 4 or do I work the 12 into that second chain

    • @jspcreate
      @jspcreate  9 месяцев назад

      You can use a chain foundation ring instead of a magic ring. That is maybe a ch 3, or ch 4, slip stitch in first chain to form a ring, then use this as your foundation ring to work the first round into. Thanks for watching.
