OMG! Finally a magic tutorial that moved at a pace for a beginner with magic ring anxiety to get it! Thank you. Just discovered your channel and this is the second video. I was having the aweful time with the yarn that is used to pull the circle closed.
You did a great job in this tutorial! Your speech pace was very good. I could pause and even go back when I needed to very easily. Some tutorials the speaker is going at such a fast pace it’s tough to manage the pauses. I like the tone and timbre of your voice. Plus the color scheme you chose is one I love! That is awesome, so glad you found this tutorial worked for you. I do have the yarn for these squares listed over on the Join as You Go tutorial on my blog. I use a variety of brands. I think these were Bernat and Loops and Threads. I ended up using 14 colours for the blanket, the exact colours and brands are over on the blog. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for your question. Can you explain a little more what you are looking for. Do you mean how to combine stitches to create lacey textures, such as the V stitch for example? Tell me a little more and maybe I can come up with a tutorial along the line you are thinking of.
@@jspcreate Yes. Which stitches work well together, how to determine how many sts should be in a chain, whether to use a dc or trc, etc., and how to increase the rounds evenly so the square will have even edges and not ruffled edges.
Alot of it has been trial and error over the years, but I will put a tutorial on my to do list of basic designing, such stitch combos, increasing, decreasing and stitch height. Thank you for suggesting this. For now, I just suggest experimenting. I will make a few test samples using different stitch heights and numbers and lie them side by side. Then I take what works and combine that into a test swatch. I have buckets of failed test swatches lol.
Next week's video on Wednesday will be the Join As You Go method with this square. In the mean time I also have a lacey join method video and the Daisy Square Throw joins this way. You can block them, they are small enough I find they hold their shape nicely, so I did not, but I will be blocking them when I finish making a throw out of them. I usually block larger squares as they lose shape as they grow, but these little guys seem to hold up nicely.
