    THe hyd Mega cams and the solid Z profiles are by far my favorites...they simply work!
    Yes they are a little more but you get what you pay for. Never once since the 80s have I had 1 failure.
    Flat tappets both hyd solid, custom solid roller from them etc. The single pattern cams always seem to hit the hardest.

    Very cool racing parts! Now, I'm no gas hot rod guy, so how rowdy is this cam? Most every thing I've owned has a standard RV cam in it haha

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  3 года назад +3

      Thanks Duddie. It’s got a bit more lift than my current cam and the duration is pretty similar. The major difference is this one is solid lift and isn’t split lift. It should rev faster and be more suited for a Mopar! Also the rpm range is 3,000-7,000 vs my current that’s only 1,500-6,500. Definitely turning my street engine into a race engine.

    • @deanjohnson2249
      @deanjohnson2249 3 года назад +2

      I think what you're trying to say is your RV cam Mesa Port of big block but it takes all day to get up to speed. The cammies putting in has a quicker throttle response and we'll get up to speed faster.

    Solid.What is the difference in a hydrolic lifter flat tappet and the solid lifter ?.Thanks for all the awesome videos,Oh yeah kick A$$ free shirt!

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  3 года назад

      Thanks brother! A hydraulic flat tappet cam has to pump up with oil to fully open Valves. A solid lifter is already at the top of it’s movement. Solid cams rev faster and are less forgiving on engines valve train. They require adjustable rockers and usually a better pushrod. The solid flat tappet is kind of the poor man’s race cam. 🤚🏻that’s me. The 273 in the car has a solid flat tappet from the factory.

    I'll have to say this is a good show for Isky, I've bought cams and you're right, they don't give you very much tech info for a good secure install.

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  3 года назад +2

      My dad was always an Isky fan from back in the day. When we started bracket racing in 2008, we had Isky in both cars. He even tried calling bullet cams once(gave them the specs of his car, and they custom ground one for it. It lost .2 in the 1/8th mile. He was so mad, that he switched cams back the Monday after the races. 😂 That included pulling elephant ears and water pump, intake, carbs, linkage, readjusting rocker arms, trying to save the valve cover gaskets, working around the master cylinder in the 72 dart swinger.

    • @Anarchy-Is-Liberty
      @Anarchy-Is-Liberty Год назад +1

      Isky is one of the very few left that are still making their own cams/lifters, and is still owned by the family that started it. Employees are in the 30-58 year range of employment with Isky, so I put a lot of faith into their abilities, and have yet to find one person who's had a cam/lifter failure of their products.

      @@JustMoparJoe Years ago, the lobe profiles were universal as to work with the smaller Chevrolet lifters, but not so much these days. Hughes was early to the real Mopar cam grind game. Chinese made, on the other hand, is a real problem in my book.

      Bullet cams is fairly close, around 100 miles from me. They are going to balance my engine. Most don’t realize that they do. I’ve bought from them before, but We’ve always had better luck with Isky. Several track championships won between my Dad and I with an Isky solid lift cam. He had a bullet cam made custom to his engine once and lost time over his Isky. They chose the cam and sent it. He lost .2 in the 1/8th in his 440 dart swinger. They sent him another cam. He tried it with the same results. Swapped the Isky back in and never looked back. All were solid flat tappets.
