Im still amazed at just how GOOD the quality of this podcast is right from episode one. Usually it takes most podcasts a few dozen, (sometimes well over 100) episodes to get this good. Chris has such a strange charismatic personality to him, even taken to the next level with his soothing voice and british accent. He's like british tony stark.
This This is honestly the only podcast I'm actually willing to watch. Partially because of who they are, as I've been watching their videos for a year and a half now, but then also because of the editing and production value that seems to have carried over from each of their channels respectively and it's just fucking amazing
Man, I just love the fact that they went out of their way to on screen reference the videos that are talked about. That's some real quality. Inserting the clips as well is seriously, like, the best thing.
This was fun, and Chris is rapidly becoming one of my favorite people. In a non obsessive way. I think what makes him great is that he’s a perfect blend of intelligent adult reactions and attitudes, and adolescent humor and craziness. I hope you get as far as you want with films. I think both your films on Fukushima were excellent and all of your vids are fun.
I agree! I actually found Connor first like a year ago, then I stumbled across a video he did with Chris and Natsuki, then I got introduced to Joey through a video they all did, and then I found trash taste where I discovered garnt. Chris has grown on me and I find myself watching all of his stuff. He's my favorite in a non obsessive way too. I just enjoy his skills as a creator (his journey across Japan videos are BEAUTIFULLY done, like documentaries) and he seems like a really genuine dude. His ability to connect with people and learn their stories is remarkable.
I gotta say, I really loved how they treated Chris as a guest. I'm guessing it was easy since they were friends before this but I feel like a lot of RUclipsrs want to watch their guests in uncomfortable situations. Either they treat it as a spotlight, in-depth interview about everything in their life or make them engage in some cringy game or questionnaire. I like how they were super respectful of Chris's content and didn't try to force any anime taste on to him even though that's what they mainly talk about. They made it a point to discuss HIS videos and compare it to theirs and made it clear that they loved them. I didn't feel like they were leaving him out of the conversation at any point or ever thought "why did they even bring this dude on?" They made him an essential part of the narrative without making it seem unnatural. 10/10/
I was a bit surprised they brought him on, wasn't sure whether he'd work well with the rest of the bois but I knew he and joey did fine on the cycle. The 3 of them tho have a kind of more energetic vibe than the bitter sarcastic vibe chris has so it was interesting to see them all try to match each other's energy
I agree, their handling of guests has really impressed me so far. They have a great balance of open discussion, while occasionally refocusing the discussion on the guest. It's like subtly putting the focus on the guest but not so much that it feels forced or makes the guest uncomfortable.
I think a lot of this stems from this podcast intentionally being both for anime and all those spillover discussions that don't fit on their channels. They've been yearning to not just be known as "anitubers" and here's that chance, so they welcome talking to people who have a different interest. Had a similar experience in my life when I was younger where I thought that it was importsnt to find a dating partner that also loved anime like I did. I got my wish...a bit too literally, lol. All the person watched was anime (and in turn, the dating soured because their dating advice came from harem anime). I realized I watched way more than just anime than I had thought and wanted to talk about other interests instead of just anime and his other interest of video games (which I like also) and I couldn't talk to them about anything live-action. Now, I don't give a damn if a partner watches anime, just be respectful of the medium as lots of people have a niche interest. What's most important is being able to speak on a diversity of subjects with someone so nothing grows stale and you're not so one-note. That seems to really be the backbone of Trash Taste.
Completely agree , although the others have good styles of hosting too. I love the way Gigguk takes what they were leading up to and frames it as a proper question, makes such easy listening.

Talking about Chris Broad's style: 50% sarcastic, cynical Brit/ 50% love of Japan. He doesn't try to exalt or sugarcoat, but presents in an amusing way. Brilliant.
I don't like be referred to as a weeb. I find weeb to be an insult. I prefer otaku as a result, cuz here in Murrica we don't find that an insulting term like they do in Japan.
Connor talks about Sebastian being his channels primary thing "I still don't know how you got out of that" Me: Probably by getting his ass into Chinese cosplay
Loved to see Chris on here, never thought I'd see him here since he's not into anime. Really enjoyed Conner's questions he had for him, glad he brushed up on Chris' channel and asked the same questions I would have wanted to ask myself lol
Yeah, I kinda enjoy this more than some of the anime related stuff on their main channels. The way they talk about their jobs and living in Japan really is interesting. Even in the last few episodes where they talked more about anime, they talk more about it from a meta perspective.
I feel like the reason Chris is the biggest Jvlogger is the incredible amount of effort he puts into his videos production value. His media background certainly helps his videos stand out from the rest 90% of which are just discussions at a desk with jump cuts intermixed with poorly shot iPhone footage lol.
1:46:27 Best bit Chris: I'm going to Japan Family: *scoff* sure you are 1 Week Later... Chris: Im off to Japan now Family: *scoff* okay At the Airport... Chris: I'm getting on the first Atlantic flight now Family: yeah...sure you are In Japan... Chris: okay I'm in Japan now Family: well...good luck with that
A note about the swearing. I have actually found the way you guys use swearing as very therapeutic. I grew up in a household where swearing was only present in excessive anger - I mean appliances and doors being broken and massively hostile attitude. With this background, I was always majorly uncomfortable whenever a swear word was used because I associated it with violence subconsciously. But you guys use it so easily, in happier emotions and without stigma that it has helped me get passed that block that I had. So thanks for that lads. I appreciate it. It's the way things are said, not the actual words, that matter.
Yeah, can definitely agree with you Eidean, I always feel uncomfortable hearing and saying swear words, but I like the way they use it in a happy and funny tone, without the violence and anger.
Can we talk about how Garnt rose to the top of anitubers left for years then came back and rose right back to the top past everyone else? That's talent.

Average Zero Some time ago, there was a podcast on geek culture called Hawktalk in a RUclips channel called Ismahawk. The hosts live in Las Vegas. They mostly talked about mainstream shows and movies (and the news surrounding them). They liked anime too, but it did not come up as often. It was fun and I was definitely sad when they announced that they were gonna stop doing it. Trash taste for me is like a reincarnation of that show... just more otaku focused.
I love how they still speak respectfully with chris on this podcast... little did they know that eventually, they'd treat him like a permanent member of trash taste lol
I am 22 now and honestly this podcast is really making me want to kick my ass into gear. I held on so long to not doing RUclips or do any sort of thing online that would give me income cuz I just did not feel ready. I would always tell myself, "Do it after uni!" Im still amazed at just how GOOD the quality of this podcast is right from episode one. Usually it takes most podcasts a few dozen, (sometimes well over 100) episodes to get this good. Whoever cuts these podcasts is a god. Makes the whole experience even better. Its less podcast, more like a long entertaining video to watch.
He's Joey's editor Mudan TV. Definitely God level editing 🤩🔥
This
This is honestly the only podcast I'm actually willing to watch.
YES I love being able to watch it stop and carry on later without getting bored of it at all
This was fun, and Chris is rapidly becoming one of my favorite people.
I didn't feel like they were leaving him out of the conversation at any point or ever thought "why did they even bring this dude on?"
They made him an essential part of the narrative without making it seem unnatural. 10/10/
You missed latest episode jk lol
*cough cough* h3 podcast *cough cough*
Can I just say that Gigguk is unironically the best host so far in terms of serious topics and clean transitions between topics.
Completely agree , although the others have good styles of hosting too. I love the way Gigguk takes what they were leading up to and frames it as a proper question, makes such easy listening.
