Really miss my buddy Sky. Heard the Seeds in the grocery store today and I knew Sky was smiling down on me.. a generous soul... Thank you brother, RIP ✌❤
Sky and I were roommates in Hollywood for a brief time in 1987. I met his wife and son before he went back to Hawaii. I’ll never forget his toddler son who saw a cut on my hand and told me to put some vitamin E on it. Sky was a very cool person.
I guess Sky's son would be about in his mid-30's now. Wonder if he ever became a musician? How did you meet Sky? I was in L.A, in the Hollywood area but was still a pre-teen or about 13 when the band hit it big. I was too young to go to clubs so never saw the Seeds perform but heard their music on the radio a lot! Also, had some magazines, like "16 Magazine" and others that all the girls bought to read about their favourite singers and bands during the 1960's.
@@suzannelawson9215 Sky was already living in the apartment that I moved into when I got to Hollywood from Ohio. I didn’t believe it at first when the other roommates told me who he was. I thought he had them all fooled. Then, after certain people stopped by to see him, I realized that had been telling the truth. He was putting together some new music and asked me to come up with some bass parts. An incredible nice and humble man!
lol...went to an emergency room once for a blister on my heel that wouldn't let me walk. Doc said nothing he could do. Went home and put some vit e on it. Was walking in 10 minutes. Start of my journey into health, trusting me first, docs later. I'm 73.
Sky Saxon played Portland, Or 13 years ago went with my then pregnant wife and walking by us he placed a hand on her belly and made the peace sign with his hand. I (we) consider that Sky's blessing better than the Pope if you ask me. Sadly he died a couple years after, RIP.
The Seeds might very well be the Grandfather's of PUNK Rock- what a sound- ahead of their time- I remember how hot they were in 66/67- I was a teeny then!
Hey JohnSmith, I was also a teen (age15) when I saw THE SEEDS perform Live in Seal Beach, California. Never forgot seeing such "a groovy group" perform and the magic energy they created. Got to meet SKY backstage after their concert. He was extremely nice & cordial to me at just being a 15 yr old teen back then. SKY was the epidemy of "being cool." We had a brief but friendly conversation and I will never forget him. He's a legend that shall live on . . . .

They played “Up in Her Room” (by The Seeds) at the "Desert Trip" concert over the loudspeakers during intermission (Stones, McCartney, The Who, Roger Waters, Neil Young, and some other guy). Funny to hear them play this on the loudspeakers between Led Zeppelin and Cream songs.
waters was awesome. mccartney was pandering. neil young was awesome too... stones couldnt figure out midnight ramble but still killed it. I was the guy playing acoustic in tent camping on sunday night.. great times!@@jamescabaniss5857
Kim Fowley lol. One of my favorite rock and roll memories is from back in 2004 at the Rockaround Festival in Las Vegas, when Sky Saxon punched Kim Fowley in the face. It had something to do with some ancient beef over a girl from way back when. I never knew Sky was even capable of such things. 🤣

Hey friends ! I've got on DVD, the Seeds LIVE in 1989, the return of the original Seeds : " The Seeds LIVE - From the underground Golden Vaults of the S.S.S. video library. Is someone interesting to get this video for making a remastering in studio because the sound need to be remastered. This video has been filmed with a cellular by Marianna Dapello but the sound is bad, it needs to be remastered.
Too many of their songs sounded the same to me "Pushing to hard" was their best song There were lots of better bands The Music Machine, We the People C A Quintet There was a few bands who had some great songs but they weren't consistent Like the Sonics Have to be the godfathers of Garage playing the witch in 61 must have been mind blowing The Chocolate watch band The Standells, the Misunderstood , Love had some great songs Electric Prunes had their moments. There were so many great singles made in the 60's by young kids trying to copy the Stones and Beatles They were miles better then them[ I still don't like one song by the stones] but few of them went on to make an album All that tallent lost Anyway i wouldn't mind watching the doc just to catch the vibe Is it available on dvd or is anyone showing it online ?
These guys were definitely not hippie, dippy material. And don’t forget around that same time in New York the velvet underground was being formed. Strawberry Fields forever.

Pushing To Hard was one of my favorite songs…from a black kid in the ghetto 45 years ago.

Sounded kinda Caribbean to me....
IGGY APPROVED!!
Thanks to The Seeds for creating such a unique and memorable sound. Thanks, Lenny Kaye and Little Steven Van Zandt, for keeping Garage/Psyche alive.

What's the address to the garage where they 1st formed?
Badass grocery store
What grocery store were you at?!
I'm usually inundated with Michael McDonald or some newer trash..
I need your grocery store in my life.
When you can get Bruce Johnston and Iggy Pop to agree on anything---you must really have something special!

Pushing Too Hard and Hell Fire by Arthur Brown are two songs that got me into music in the first place. Thank you!
Those first two albums were pure gold. ... and all originals.
The third album wasn’t too shabby either.
Great FLOWER group of the 60's The SEEDS!
Bought that 45 in tenth grade and played it endlessly.

They were definitely one of the original first wave of American punk bands. Flower punks.
Or as Zappa would say, "you're plookin' too hard...too hard...too hard on meeeeeee!"
Rodney on the RoQ! I point to his ear and late night music selections for honing my tastes in the 80s.
I was Sky Saxons date at the summer of love concert 20 years later @Luther Burbank What a great time!
WHOAH! NICE!!😃

Pushin' Too Hard: one of the few top ten songs with two chords.

There's a kitty in the video !
Its funny how people are talking about them yet ive just heard of them a day ago
"Plookin too hard on me", Frank Zappa's reference to this song on his album Joe's Garage
Ha. I just posted this. I tell my fellow FZ fans this obvious reference and they say I'm nuts.

Does anyone know where I can get this? It played a local theater, and never got released for sale.
Just use a RUclips video download site and download it homie.

So punk .
Iggy Pop - the last surviving rock 'n roller without a brain. 😂
The bangles comparing themselves to The Seeds.😂
The only comparison they made was the fact that they started out playing in the garage.
The Seeds had the psychedelic thing but not hifalutin’. . .trashy and therefore legit!
What’s an example of “hifalutin’” 60’s psychedelic?

This is a joke, isn't it?
Pushin too Hard was a great song but almost everything else they did was crap.
Their music sucks. You would have to be stoned out of your mind to think that was good rock and role.
it wasn't suppose to be it was diy rock n roll.
Are you a rock and role model? Or just playing a role?
It sucks. I wouldn't listen to that if you paid me.
