I told Harmeet about it last year. I caught a group of boys in their Dodge Challenger who threw a packet of chips on the road. And dirtying my community. I do not accept that. There are many such examples where we Indians as a community embarrass ourselves.
Everyone needs to be responsible for themselves and more so us as Immigrants. Always remember : You did not move to India, You moved to Canada. If your intent is to make India in Canada, that's not happening and shouldn't happen. You made a choice, so adapt to the culture.
And look, there's no harm in being appreciative of good things. It's a beautiful country and we should feel blessed for the clean air, water and sorroundings. Embrace mother nature.

While we seemed to be okay bashing students for fun. When are we going to talk about the real culprits of this hate? Old gen desi immigrants who are today's slumlords, wage thieves, who discriminate in renting, etc - they are the ones who are driving this hate and are not even getting blamed for it. Students are too vulnerable, hence they are the ones who gets bashed a lot. 1/100 students will litter, but an old gen immigrant is 60-80% likely to be one of those above.

Canadians are raised to not hate and to embrace diversity (including being taught this in all daycares/schools). People need to look at all sides.
India has a 29% unemployment rate amongst it's own graduates. One of the big reasons why young people are leaving India in droves, yes? Plus less than 50% of the 950 million working-age population in India is employed (compared to over 70% in other emerging markets). Amongst the Indian working group, many are self-employed and contain “unpaid helpers in family enterprises”. India has one of the highest emigration rates in the world. As many zero in on education as a way to gain access to a western country?
Did international students/families pay into Canadian taxes all their lives like domestic students have (earning cheaper tuition fees)? No. Plus Canada did NOT tell international students/parents to spend/risk their life savings on a "Canadian dream". Canada did NOT tell international students to borrow money. Canada did NOT promise international students work. Canada did NOT promise international students money. Canada did NOT promise international students PERMANENT RESIDENCY.
Meanwhile freelance agents have been operating in an unbridled market in India. Often by painting a distorted picture of what students can receive from Canada. Plus in recent years, a new type of recruitment has cropped up via foreign nationals as many "edu-tech" have created online platforms to connect millions of potential students with the recruiters. The sub-agents have absolutely no no direct connection with the Canadian college. Plus the college has no no ability to control their conduct. Indian sham operations abused/abusing Indian students in person &/or via massive advertising. Primarily in their native language that most Canadians do NOT understand. Painting a false picture in their minds (of what Canada could or would or should offer).
Canadians are seeing primarily Indians protesting & waving their flags on Canadian streets making demands. Because they may not have enough credentials to remain in Canada? And because rules designed to protect CANADA are not meeting their desires? Why isn't there crowds of African or Caribbean or Filipino etc., students making demands? They're in Canada too.
And even though Canada is being falsely/unfairly blamed for too much, Canada has yet to deport students like crazy (but likely will soon). Instead Canada has been trying trying to find balance of who can stay vs go. While also trying to fix anything Canada did wrong. Create a better future. Why? Because Canadians actually care about doing so for both Canadians and international students.
Canada's own youth are also victims of the above mentioned scam artists now too. Due to a SEVERE lack of homes and lack of entry level jobs now partially due to international students swarming the system then fighting for PR etc., versus returning home. Including some students asking for Canadian asylum (which rarely gives them PR).
      Questions:
⦁ What is India doing about any of this? After Canada told India to halt Ghost Consulting. Many Indians keep saying their politicians are corrupt. True? Plus Canada didn't have numerous PRIVATE 'diploma mills' until 40% of international students were from India. Coincidence? Schools that Canada is shutting down.
⦁ What about all the YT videos that primarily Indian nationals have posted (for half a decade now including today) all advertising Canadian PR like they're selling a product? Promoting Canadian visas & permits & schools & jobs etc. etc.. Videos not only posted hourly but rarely in English or French. With very very rare input from Canadian citizens.
⦁ What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies?
⦁ What about Canadian food banks & other charity services being recklessly advertised on YT in Indian languages?
⦁ What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by, and for, foreign nationals? Some home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply". Often these 'landlords' also cram 20 students in a small home and charge them each way too much for rent.
⦁ What about Indian nationals buying local businesses then repeatedly putting Indians only in the top tier positions (while also changing familiar work practices)? BC & Ontario are also outlawing the Caste System.
⦁ What about the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada? Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) even though it all stems from their ancestral home. Why????????????
⦁ What about the Canadian government launching investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections, stemming from Asia continent? Canada also had to end flagpoling at the border.
Canadians are so so so not used to all this!! Do Indians care about Canadians suffering too?
Or do they primarily want to point fingers at the Canadian government etc., when many things weren't in Canada's control?
Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Now everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian Canadians MOST upset (by all of this).
PS Immigration being decreased in: Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, The Maritimes, Alberta, Saskatchewan, & Manitoba.

A Canadian Indian here. Been living in Canada for 20 years now, peacefully and locals used to respect Indian a lot.... viewing them as an Intelligent, cultured, educated and rich community.
The vdo title is misleading. Its not that NRIs dont want more Indians here...offcourse we do, but as it used to happen earlier, we need a educated, cultured lot. Who immigrate here and then adopt the values and culture and respect the local rules and regulations and get assimilated with the local communities.
U see the current ones specially students (not all but majority part) that are coming in do not have a basic civic sense..they will continue with their behaviour back home and wont try to assimilate. They live in their own circle. That why u see things like Brampton college plaza crazy fights or students dancing crazily in front of a mall. Such students come with lot of money but less awareness n respect to the culture of the country they are studying in. Offcourse locals gonna notice and gonna express their discontent, Indians (who are settled for years ) included.
Believe me the current lot is real bad quality and they dont care for anyone unless once they get caught by police and taste the hammer of legal system here

"You smell like curry" is a fact cause South Asian food smells and when you cook in an enclosed home especially in Winter the smell gets into the clothes, furniture, walls, etc. And once you go out and are in an enclosed area, e.g. an elevator the clothes do smell. What would be a very good start? If you create a very public video, about what CANADIANS like or don't like, do it in English so most CANADIANS can contribute to the conversation. Not doing so is considered rude since most Indians can speak English too. Especially international students in Canada (and immigrants) who are supposed to know English. It's primarily Indians who refuse to do this.
How would you like it if thousands of Canadians made hourly every-day every-year YT videos critiquing India in French? While pretending to be experts on India.

Canadian culture with genuine stories. A real redressing of the rough ends of modern Indian culture and questioning and thoughtfulness of why Indians even come to Canada.

Moreover due to the influx of South Asian immigrants irrespective of their social and family back grounds have resulted in such embarrassing situations about which your panelists are discussing! He has to go on government website and study properly, certainly Canadian govt gives subsidies to those employers who hire refugees and new comers. Harman denied this point saying every one have same legal rights as worker, that is right, but it is different from subsidies to employers. Employers get benefits by hiring refugees and new comers. The challenge we face in Canada is that many Indians seem to lack unity with their fellow Indian brothers and sisters. It's disheartening to see some supporting or ignoring racial comments rather than standing against them. In contrast, other communities often show strong solidarity. We, as Indians, should take a lesson from them on how to support one another and foster a sense of unity. When we stand together, we become stronger, and the impact of racial comments can be significantly diminished.

Stop protesting, you don't have the "permanent resident status", you have NO right and entitlement yet. As a Canadian born half Indian I completely agree with her. My grandparents' generation came to Canada and other countries and adapted to the Western culture while still holding onto their traditional ways. They worked extremely hard to build themselves up. They never took any social assistance because they were determined to make it on their own work ethic, and it was a pride issue as well. They built a strong reputation and gave us a better life. Now, anyone and everyone is slipping through the cracks, and these immigrants that come feel no need to change their ways because its basically like India here for them, and they are way too comfortable. I am so ashamed of these people and hate that they have tarnished our great reputation. They have ruined what took decades to achieve within a matter of a few years. I understand that it's not all, but it's enough that the world has noticed, and it sickens me to my core. I'm glad this woman said this, not that it matters because these uneducated people will not change.

You guys are the best scapegoats for both the parties because you don't vote and you are dispensable. So yeah, doesn't matter what you feel. That's the truth

@Clover7777 The government did not force the students to come and study here. Students need to do their own research before landing here and being a nuisance.

Plz address the loud music issue also. Many of them turn the music on loudly in the public transportation and neglect the concern of other passengers and then loudly talk over the phone. Violation of traffic rules is another thing. These people need to learn some basic manners before going to any country.

This interview is biased from the beginning. Trying to show India is positive light. Its GDP per capita that matters. It doesn’t matter we are 3rd largest or 4th largest whatever. Not watching something where agenda is preset.

There’s no place like home! Why smart people are leaving India? Doesn’t India suffer from parochial/ linguistic issues/ problems? Doesn’t India suffer from lack of civic sense? Poor healthcare and education? Bureaucratic lethargy and corruption? Adulteration and environmental toxins?
Now the moot point: Behave like a gentleman in foreign lands: if you wish to adopt that land, adapt to its value systems! When people say: it sounds like Indian/ India ( understand its inner meaning) In a nutshell, we need to be much civilised overseas! Or set things right at home 🏡 India thrives on chaos 😢

I like the podcast and do believe that every Indian is not bad Only a few may be doing wrong things there. However during talk I could not find any clarity from Harman. His voice was not clear, contents were not logical and he speaks fast due to which he could not make any good impact in the talk. Sarthak and the other two were good in explaining the concept very well.
