@Normal Person Skill is a part of it but you can't learn creativity or innovation. If you look at guitarists today they're generally more skilled than ever but they can't write songs well at all.

After playing a song enough, it mostly comes down to muscle memory. Even if I don't play a song for several months, I can usually relearn it in a short time because my fingers just pick it back up.
