Great! You have to be dedicated to sit through this one ;) Hope it's helpful, although Adobe seems to be improving the software by making more use of the graphics card.
Thank you for the detail explanation, I have a 14 cpu i9 spec out computer running of ssd and it takes me about an hour to export 300 pics. Does it seem normal?
Hi Phil, my understanding is that Export is one of the big areas where multiple thread CPUs are an advantage. So I would expect your system to be very fast. I almost never export that many pics so I cannot offer you a comparison with my much lower spec PC! I expect a lot depends also on what size and resolution and what format you are exporting in too.
The simple solution : use a Mac! In 15 years of pretty intensive photographic processing, I have yet to encounter any sluggishness or random shut downs. A mid range 2011 iMac with 16 gb ram, 1 TB SSD and 2 x 4 TB hard drives delivers faultlessly. Now I’m looking forward to getting a new iMac which is punted to be significantly faster.
I have a MacBook Pro 2013 but it doesn't compete very well with my PC for editing. Either way, they have significantly improved Lightroom over the last year it's very noticeably better than it was for me.
Nice vid. There are a lot of tips in this that I’ve never heard before.
