can I ask a question? if you're doing an opening and let's say black doesn't make the common move (white to e4 and black doesn't respond with e5 but instead something else), can you still follow through with doing the king's gambit or do you have to use a different opening to compensate what they're doing? I am new to chess.
Backyardprofessor >>> Wasn´t that your cat commenting at 4:18? :) By the way if your videos grow so much in popularity as until now then you must change jobtitle to Palacegardenprofessor. ;)
at 16:30, Bd7 was the best move. The king is unable to move. Nf7 would have been checkmate if he hadn't given that flight square. Rf8 would have been met with Nf7 anyway, the rook is forced to take, and Re8 is checkmate in that position, too. He needed that flight square.
+TrankWithAnR yes. I am a new chess student, 2 months ago started, may be now 2 months and 1 week, was sitting with the board and thinking what black could do, couldnt find anything except Bd7 there i 10 minutes, but he started to critisize the player so I am like oh, crap,so much more to learn :D. then I checked the comments and realised Bd7 was the only option :D
15:42 Black absolutely HAD to take that rook, or white had MATE in 2 moves: Re8+ ; Rxe8 ; Rxe8# I guess black had other options, like Bd7, but those doubled rooks were too powerful. Black is out of luck, because white has so many options at this point.
nice music, still hoping to see our games on here , i love the way you illustrate these games, p.s i waited 2 years now be a pal and post them please lolll GRIN/SMILE. ~PAWNACONDA
By the way if you´re an attackingplayer and tactician by nature the openingplay is most important. Why? Because here we choose battleground from the start whether the game shall be sharp and tactical or calm and positional/strategical. If you´re a positionalplayer and strategist by nature then endgameplay is most important because the play is slow and manouvering around a lot before settling on a specific plan.
If you're really looking to get stronger, you should be memorizing these games. ;) And it's not that flamberge didn't see that. He was unable to stop it with all of white's mating ideas. You haven't analyzed this game enough. Big difference between seeing the moves and actually calculating them out carefully.
+Shekh Ashruf It would be checkmate in two had Black taken the Rook with the Knight at 13:08, wherever the King goes. Follow through with the lines and try to see for yourself the pattern. It's a little tricky, but discovered and double check threats are devastating.
Wow! besides chess you sould be teaching other professors how to teach...many of them posess rich knowledge but ther presentation is sooo boring... CONGRATULATIONS PROFESSOR ... I enjoy your videos!
TheBackyardProfessor Hey Kerry. Good videos as usual. The tourney went OK. Smaller turnout but still cool. I posted one game from the tourney on my channel, "John Cordisco" CYA

Elliot Scott Dating nvm you answered the question in the vid ha
On 6:10 the knight is especially placed there to prevent Queen H4 check, not necessarily to block the pawn.
Thanks . . . . Thanks . . . . I'm very glad to see you & Training . . . . Like
Very good game and a great video!
Absolutely completely totaly great video !
every time i watch you,i enjoy your passion..wish you a nice life....
Did Bobby Fischer play any king's gambit games?? If so, that would be interesting to watch!
At 16:55 the bishop was moved to D7 to prevent checkmate. He certainly saw the fork, but he needed to keep his chances alive.
Yep! That knight move had two purposes. Checkmate, and check with ! to the rook. That was black's best move to prolong the game.

what's your chess rating?
I'd say no more that 1000 and that's being generous.
Does he play on chess . com and what's his username?
the best opening
You didn't mention the main purpose of Nf3, which is to stop a very nasty Qh4+.
Fun to watch when Reti was a piece down for most of it.
at 16:11 black is forced to play Bd7 otherwise he is mated with nf7
i have 500 kings gambit miniatures cool

Why is this man not in a cringe compilation?
Why don't we do endgame videos if they're the most important?
@13:04 why knight didnt took rook?
