Nice video, what i do is thin my shims down with a surface grinder, but not everyone has access, you grind the side away from the cam. on the honda twin cams i have done i made a tool to hold the bucket down, it like a half round wedge, so now i have a fz600 and i'm going to see if i can make something much the same, thanks for your effort.
How you need to shim? I got 102mm /.004 on both #1 dont they get slacker?
Motor has been clacking :(
@@narajuna the valves sink into the heads, the clearance gets smaller, if your cam is wearing then the clearance will open up, but I have never seen that happen.
@@lawrenceveinotte Thanks getting back on it.... all except one :(
I got a hole chip on my #4 exhaust next to the shim sleeve, can I plug it with my metal putty for motors?
@@narajuna you can try putty but chances are with the engine heating and cooling you will eventually get a leak. You could bring the bike to a metal work shop that can weld the hole shut but it will be $$
@@stayPUFT101 Yeah, noticed same on other side, wonder if normal? Better hold cause that is what i used on by mufler screwholes, some busted and couldnt get out.
Thanks, I am into it now, 2 for spacing is a must, I have shims sticking, Y280 on #1 exhaust and intake #2 is 270, can the others be different? Wonder if I should try more or will that risk tyraps to fall out of position :( ?
When you say the shims are sticking do you mean you can't get them out?
@@stayPUFT101 after much effort, dont get it, all need to grind down, but it was clacking.
