Hey guys! Thank you so much for all of the love on this video, I’ll be sure not to put petit pois on my afternoon tea (peas) but petit fours (small cakes)😂 big love x
Loved your afternoon tea, great idea . Really appreciate all you do, especially during lockdown :) Just a little tip!... Don't glaze scones, instead pat lightly with flour. I also never use warmed milk, cold milk works fine. xx
Hi Luke! Really great watch, a fun video and I really enjoyed it. Scones are so nice to eat and it’s great to see how you make them... Thank you 🙏🏻😋
Fun video! I’ve been doing a simple version of this instead of dinner for several months now.
PS. You are incredibly attractive :-)
🖤
Such a nice video! Thank you!
My gran used to have her tea in a brown teapot and she would always warm the pot first then the first cup would be “the devils” cup which she would pour into a cup then tip away straight away, her reason would be that the devil would follow the hot tea down the plug hole 😊. She reckoned that if you didn’t make it in a pot you should always leave a bit of tea at the bottom of your mug for “the devil” which I actually still do today. Mad things we do hey x
This is such a lovely comment thank you Jane. That’s what my step dad does too, he never finishes a cup and always leaves just a drop. Haha great memories x
@Jane Nicholls That sounds reasonable!
I'd love to make afternoon tea a part of my day. It's nice to see you and Zara being creative to make this shut-in time as fun as possible. You two work so well together, not just as friends, but family. You are lucky to have one another.
Old English lady here cringing at a couple of things!
If you need cold butter, cut it on a cutting board, not in your hands. Your hands will melt the butter.
When making 'real' tea in a teapot. You should warm the pot first with some boiled water before adding the tea.
And when putting tea in a cup from the pot, milk should go in first, (I can't remember the order of tea and sugar because I don't use sugar, but I think it's milk, tea, sugar.)
This was a lovely video. Thanks for coming up with some imaginative ideas. Everyone else's cleaning videos are getting a bit repetitive. ♥️
Thank you so much for watching. Great idea with the board. I just am a hands on cook. I guess with the milk I always add too much 😂 x
I love a High Tea with a flute of bubbly and your Afternoon Tea looked tempting. :) The music suited the meal too. Thank you.
Will definitely take notes from this video. One thing that I really love about the UK is afternoon tea and I do my very own little afternoon tea for myself at home quite often :)
Also heard that the reason there are two ways to eat the scone is because one group had better cream and rubbish jam and the other one had better jam and rubbish cream, so they both wanted to hide the rubbish ingredient by putting on their good one.
Love the British Home Tea those scones look amazing Luke enjoyed these guys. stay safe and well to you both.
Loved this, thanks Luke and Zara x
Brilliant idea!!! I'm going to do this! Loved the history! Winner!!!
How lovely!! You both are such a delight. Thank you both and stay safe my friends 🙂❤.
Lovely to see yours and Zara's beautiful, smiling faces this Sunday morning, Luke. ♥♥
I’m glad you told us the right way to have the tea.
Oh,, so lovely. I really miss British afternoon tea....
I really loved this. Im making scones today after seeing this. Never made them before. Fab afternoon tea guys x
This looks yummy another great video. You guys have so much fun together it great to watch. X
Amazing, you two are making the best of this situation Bravo 👏🏻
Everything turned out sooo cute!!!
Yay! Randomly I was watching old Mary Berry recipes of how to make scones last night and then you uploaded this! Perfect can't wait to give them a go 😁
Lovely video. You have made good use of your balcony. The collapsible cake stand is such a good idea. Your scones looked yummy.
Love the English tradition of high tea. Great idea to do it at home. Loving your channel❤️
So cool. Smart, intelligent , great cook and good looking. So many varied videos, coming up with some great ideas. Good to see you both.
Awesome video Luke! ☺️
You have inspired us to have afternoon tea next weekend and to make our own scones, thank you for the great content as always x
Hi luke love afternoon tea that looked lovely xxx
well that's me drooling. I live a fruit scone and those looked lovely .might attempt this
Lovely! Thanks for sharing💝👍😁
I love this video! My Hispanic Mama loves to have tea parties with her church lady friends and the all wear hats. Hello to you both from Katy Texas! Your videos have kept me company through this lockdown....thank you!
You two are really hitting it out of the park with these videos!! Your creativity knows no bounds, apparently. How beautiful it all looked on that tiered stand out on your balcony. The history bits were nice, as well. I'm going to give scone making a try! Thank you for all the lovely distractions during this time. You're the best.
Love this idea. And love seeing Zara in videos too 😊
Fabulous idea and so delicious 😋 Also Zara always looks so stylish would be fab to see her clothing items listed too👍👍
How cute is this! I have never had afternoon tea and my husband is British. Definitely going to have to do this next time we are back in England.
This was absolutely fab! Love watching you both!
I’m a jam down first followed by cream. 👍🏼
Good job, that all looked so tasty, 🙂
Cream first and then jam yum I love afternoon tea lovely treat love the video as always 💞
Lovely afternoon tea
Lovely idea 👍🙂😘😘
Love this....you are really inspiring me with all your ideas while we are in this situation 😀 xx
I love an afternoon tea!!! Looked great, well done to both of you 🙂
Love afternoon tea! Those scones look delicious! Cream then jam for me lol x
Love this. I’m for cream tea. I now know how to do it; thanks for the education.
Petits fours. ''Petty foor''. (small pastries) Im french canadian but every other Sunday afternoon I have ''tea time'' with my girlfriends. We have the best time. One of the nicest British tradition. Have a great day!
Loved this Luke. I'm with you on the pronunciation of Scone 👍🏻. I'm from South Wales and this is how we say it too x
So lovely. I will do the same next weekend. Thanks you two love from Perth West Australia. x x
Looks delicious!
So enjoyed this👌👍
How nice! Everything y'all made looks delicious. I love looking back in history and seeing how everything was done for tea or dinner. I have 2 very old Mary Margaret McBride Encyclopedias of cooking, that were published in 1952. They even cover different place settings and the etiquette of seating and may other things. I love them! All the recipes are old and a little more time consuming because everything was made from fresh ingredients. Not a lot of prepackaged items that we have in our grocery stores today. I just keep thinking, "No wonder most women did not work out side the home. Meal planning, cooking and house cleaning took up their entire day"! You would probably like looking at these cooking encyclopedias also. Hope you two are having a nice weekend. From the southeast coast of Florida🌴😎💙😎🌴
That is so interesting Elizabeth. I love the history behind food and traditions that we still enjoy today. Thank you so much for watching x
Loved this mate! Scones with roddas & jam is my absolute fav 👌
What is/are roddas?
Never mind. Google told me.
My wife absolutely loves it to she eats the lot 👍
Your afternoon tea looked delicious 😊
Oh, the golden Scones! Lemon Fancies! Lemon lover that I am I will have one half with raspberry or strawberry jam and the second half with lemon curd.
Loved this video, so good and your scones looked amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever made them but might give them a try, if I can get hold of some flour. X
Here's hoping this video will bring back the old traditional largely forgotten because of our busy lives...so pretty and a lovely thing to do during lockdown xxx
Really enjoyed this
Thank you so much for this video! This is the video I have been waiting for ever since i started following people on RUclips. I have heard so many rights and wrongs, to do and not to do about Tea and I haven't found a real person to explain Tea yet. Now I understand. The only vids I've found so far are the ones like the Maitre D' of a fancy tea house being all fancy about things. Never sure how much of that is real and how much is just for show. Luke you look like a proper waiter in your apron setting the bistro table on the veranda! Thanks so much!
Loved watching this! Definitely given me inspiration to bake 😍
Omg!! Yum!! I think this is my next project!! You guys are great at interior design - can you perhaps do a video on how you've designed your outside space? ❤
Yes! This is what I was looking for. I want to do this for our wedding anniversary. Although lockdown is eased my hubby is not ready to go to a restaurant and he's veggie. Thankfully the weather is going to be scorching so we can have it in the garden. Thanks x
Have fun. I'm so happy to see you use your napkin the proper way and you're up on your etiquette. Even though I'm from the US we have good manners here too
Aww this is lovely! I haven’t had a cream tea forever! Maybe I will see if I make scones and treat myself!
Buttermilk scones are the best. If you've ever made your own butter from cream use the leftover milk. My daughters 10th birthday next week and I think I'll do her a homemade afternoon tea 😀
Awww, that's a really nice idea as she can still get all dressed up and the table be laid formally to make it an occassion 😄👍
I'm so inspired by this!
Lovely afternoon tea!! Mmm... who on earth give you both thumbs down??? Love your enthusiasm xx
Lovely afternoon tea. Very well shown and explained. Like - Elly
Jam then cream, I’m a Yorkshire lass lol, really enjoyed that guys thanks for sharing x
What a fab idea I’m new to your channel so I’m binge watching but I’d love to do afternoon tea in the garden for my daughter and hubby while we are all off work/school well done to you both hugs from Lancashire x
Love this! ❤️
I'm so doing this for next weekend 😍 xx
Definitely cream first as the texture is thicker and holds better for when you add your jam in after. That's what works for me. Your afternoon tea looks lovley xx
Loved 🤗
I spread the scone with butter, then jam then cream. Just had 2 freshly baked scones about an hour ago. Your afternoon tea looks sooooo delicious.
I just enjoy your channel so much and whan l visit The U.K. l did AFTER Noon tea me and my friends was at the Ritz hoping to get back soon to your amazing city of London...
I love how close you guys are - it's so nice to see siblings who seem to actually like each other! And thankyou for the 'laugh out loud' moment with Zara'a jam and cream combo!
Carla Jenkins are they actually ? I couldn’t tell who she was
Hey Clara! Thank you so much for watching. We’re just friends but I’m sure we’re related somehow😂
@@LukeCatleugh Oh my mistake! I thought you said in an earlier video that Zara was your sister. Sorry! Even so, you have a lovely friendship.
@@lauryn1729 ah I got it wrong :(
I love the fact that you are having home made afternoon tea, I will replace the tea with prosecco. Jam and cream all the way for me, spreadable Zara 😂😂😂 keep them coming please. Xxxx
Omg that looked so lovely !!! Also I was told (about the scone debate) that if you have a more savoury taste then cream on top but if you have a sweet tooth then you prefer Jam on top idk though but I Deffo do Jam then cream.
What a lovely video thank you Luke and Zara. I always put my jam on first then the cream. Maybe for a DIY tutorial with Mr Carrington you could make a cake stand. Mr Carrington couldbuy the plates from a charity shop and you can get the screws in between from Amazon. Your scones looked delish. Thank you both. Stay safe xxxx
Well Luke I could just sit and enjoy that ..I think you should do a revise now you have done your patio area..x
Thank you for the afternoon tea tutorial. The scones turned out beautifully! What is your favorite brand of tea? (regular black tea, not green or fruit)
That all looked so yummy! 😍 You've made me want afternoon tea! I do cream first then jam. It made me laugh when you said 'petits pois' - that's peas! 😆 did you mean 'petits fours'? I enjoyed your recent cleaning vids too 🤩🤗
Hahah that’s the one! I did think editing back “I’m pretty sure that’s peas!”😂
@@LukeCatleugh it was funny 😆🤗
/ SUPER / I Love English Tea ... COOL
lovely video all looked delicious i made Cherry scones last Sunday for the first time they are my favourite but hard to find
Well done 👍 your afternoon tea Looked very yummy and how lucky are you to have a cute little balcony. Is it the only outside space you have.
enjoyed it very much made me hungry. one thing to point out did you warm your tea pot before
You wanted to say « Petits- Fours » 😂 Petit pois is greenpeas lmao! Lovely video! I love your accent it is very distinguished 😍
Nice!
This is such a wonderful thing to do, one day hopefully I can enjoy a true tea in the UK. What time does this usually occur during the day?
I make cherry scones with brown sugar. Yours look yummy too.🥰
It has to be jam then cream on your scones🤣🤣Thy looked blooming wonderful xxx
Not to be too picky but Petit Fours are your little sweet fancies and Petit Pois are baby peas. Apart from that it looked delicious and once again you have made me motivated to bake and make the Scones as I haven't had them in years. It will be jam on the bottom and a huge dollop of cream above for me....
So which was better: clotted cream then jam on the scones or jam first?
Lovely
Luke where does your kettle come from? Love it. Mr. C has one too. Zara, I agree jam spreads easier than that lovley thick cream. No no no no icing sugar LOL. Sign of a good scone that you can split to open without a knife!! Well done.
Love it! Although the small cakes are petits fours (petits pois are peas!). Yummy tea - you’ve inspired me :)
JE je
Love Mr Kiplings treats. Especially lemon flavoured treats. Mr Kipling Slices Lemon. My fav scones - date. Love from New Zealand. Prefer using a processor when making scones, faster. Rubbing the butter and flour together, labor intensive...😄😄. Prefer jam first then cream on top. YUM.
You forgot to mention all the lovely charm that just comes natural to the people in the UK
LOVE afternoon tea !!!! tfs fun video ! 💗💗💗💗 Ohhh how I wish I could find clotted cream here in Arizona !
Thank you so much! It can be tricky to find here too. Butter works just as well🧡
@@LukeCatleugh I think your tea was just lovely. Now I want to make some scones ! I want to try making orange cranberry ones. tfs💗
If you can’t get clotted cream, regular whipped cream is just as lovely!
I'm sure you can make clotted cream.. don't ask me how to do it right enough
@@traceyoneill8627 i think you bake the cream ...sounds weird but true (i think!) 😂😂
Wow
I used to spread jam first and a dollop of cream of top!
you two are adorable
If you’ve still got some scones left I’m told Thunder and Lightning is very nice - you swop the jam for treacle or syrup.
love to see a fellow sunderlandser
This was just lovely. I really enjoyed afternoon tea with you guys. Everyone making the best of life indoors. This was most entertaining. Little history lesson for good measure. Great use of your outdoor space with the plants etc.
Even though I’m American can I still have afternoon tea too.... please say yes 🙏🏽🙏🏽
