How to Make a Film Pitch Deck - part of your film financing plan

- If you are a writer / director, a director or a producer, you might need a pitch deck for your short film, feature film, web series or TV show. I'll show some film pitch deck examples and how you can make a pitch deck to help sell your project or get cast and financing.

This is more for filmmakers and writer /directors. If you are a screenwriter, your SCRIPT is your selling document and you wouldn't necessarily need something like this to sell your script.
Not that I know of.
Reality TV isn't my thing so I don't know. Anyone here know about pitching reality TV?
Inktip is legit. It's more for smaller budgets, but totally fine. I think I used it once in the past and made a connection with a company in Canada.
For a film financing plan do you not need any financial model? Cashflow waterfall? Projected revenue?
I am finishing up my feature film, but I went way off script and basically I only have the movie to show...would this not work for those who are wanting to see my work? I do have some shorts as well as a trailer from my previous short.

GREAT video on Pitch Decks. I've been a producer and line producer for over 30 years, but I hate promotional material - and now I have to do a Pitch Deck for a new project. Most of the videos I've seen are either too simple, too specific, don't relate, and don't really give you a "how to." This is concise, and with all the links, actually guides you through the process, ESPECIALLY if you are not the most art-savvy.

Thank you for this information. I have this same problem that my monitor is too high so I have to tilt my head up and get a neck ache. You need to lift your chair up somehow if you can't lower your monitor, both for the camera and the well-being of your neck.

One question please: if I make a 10 page movie pitch deck with the pages being PDFs, how can I email them to potentials investors and know that they will receive them in the correct order from 1 to 10? What is the best way to present to 10 pages... powerpoint? a PDF booklet of some kind? I would dearly appreciate any guidance. Ross

if you wrote a script, what would it be about in general? Me, I'm writing a script set in UTAH. It's a moody, atmospheric film about a state trooper, his life and a woman in what appears to be a witness protection program. It has a bright and dark side and a somewhat upbeat ending. I've already arrived at an idea for what should be one of the greatest scenes in movie history...
After using the canva templates would we download the images and upload them on RUclips and send that RUclips link to investors?
It is usually presented as a pdf. I have seen some video type presentations, but I don't have any good examples of those to show you - I'm not as familiar with doing them that way.

Depends on who you are sending things to and what they want. Sometimes when you are pitching they will ask for a "one sheet." Info on one page.

What happened to your most recent video?
RUclips's content ID system flagged it as copyrighted material so I had to dispute it as "fair use" and it goes through a process. Should be back within 30 days when that is done.

You cannot get an A list actor without a budget in place.

Forget Canva, it is bug ridden, particularly when it comes to saving or exporting your work. Add to this there is no back up - it just saves to some unknown destination in the cloud - and this means you can spend half a day working and creating what looks like a great presentation only to find you can do nothing with it. Canva then gives you one of the most annoying prompts of any software I have ever used. 'saving paused'. This actually means saving FAILED and there is absolutely no way to get around it. They should also give the message 'Customer Service Paused' because it is none existent.
This is bad advice. Never make a pitch deck by yourself, WRITE IT then send the text to someone who graphic designs PDF's for a living. Then go to a special print shop that keeps the bright visuals on hard firm paper and get it coiled. Make sure you have a film finance version (more numbers, logistics, studio, production, licensing information) and one that is more creative based (LOTS of visuals, lots of enticing words, tags for what the movies about ie. thriller, fantasy, lots of headshots of ppl working on/in the film!). Once you have these two booklets, create a website and post it on the website as PDF, then post about it on social media, then attend pitch meetings on stage32 for example and link your website. If they're interested let them know that you have some physical booklets you'd like to send over. Mail them. BOOM. Thats all it takes to get an email back 3-6 months later to get your stuff produced but you have to invest in your pitch package and invest in building your own audience, and ONLY pitch quality.
