Maybe I went into this with the wrong expectations but I was hoping the speech recognition would be done on the pie as well. Good video none the less

ya i got here from a google search, looking for "offline voice detection". i don't know why google thought this was a good result for that. other than not being offline, it is helpful otherwise.
Just saying not all heroes wear capes. This saved me when setting up for my final year project when the OS crashed the day before presentation.

thought it meant the pi would have the speech recognition but that was alright until I found out the API wasn't free to use, a waste of time ;(
You could use Google API, it's free, but it's not the fastest though
It seemed promising: So I created a free account, which entitles me to 3 hours per month (this is what is written in the "Account" section) and I tested... Finally, the API commented "This feature is paid-only and requires a credit card"). However, I am far from 3 hours of use! How do you expect to be trusted after that?😪

Hi! I would like to do a simple DIY kit that responds when I say goodnight. Example, when someone says "Goodnight Daddy", my DIY kit responds back with "Goodnight Emma".. How can I do this? Is there any kit available that I can buy out there? Thank you
Will it support other languages? I am trying to help my elderly mom, who speaks Ukrainian/Russian. I tried to have her speak into a Windows PC in Russian to transcribe this text and then translate it to English. Is there a tool for this? For some reason, Windows does not support Russian speech recognition. Yes, offline is a Big plus.

He said the heat sink and case not necessary. 😔But my experience I used rpi without heat sink and cooling that was very slow🐌🦥 even I can't able to open terminal and I used with cooling that was so fast ⏩ . Use case to avoid static charge problems⚡
Would be way cooler if they provided some ASR library that works on device without an Internet connection. This makes the most sense for the raspberry Pi and edge devices.
Why do you even need a raspberry Pi for this? Just do it straight from your laptop.

Too bad it'not working ... nice nifty little python libraries that just produce crap. Microphone on Raspberry Pi worx perfectly well, but this stupid speech_recognition is too stupid to work. Won't accept two different standard mics ... so sorry, your tutorial seems nice and has good explanations, but it's NOT WORKING.
