    There are some good points about this kata and some bad points, When it comes to street defence fast reactions are what you are looking for, Some points of this kata take to long to execute in a real fight leaving you open to an counter attack from the attacker, In fact there are to many katas and techniques in the katas to pick from , When attacked you won’t have time to decide which technique from which kata to use you just have to react

    Only thing I can say is
    Remember that a closed fist is also a grab, not just a punch. Otherwise awesome OSU

    What style of karate is this

  • @matthewbaumann630
    @matthewbaumann630 Год назад

    I don't believe the first move would work. Kata isn't meant to defend against Karate style attacks and using two hands to block one punch means the opponent's other hand is free.

  • @八極麻花捲

    I think the issue with these movement is two steps. One for block and one or more for following attack. This is not right for real fight. Should be one movement to accomplish avoidance and counter attack. Most often the total avoidance can’t be achieved but can be significantly reduced.

      What your saying is correct and a practictioner should aim for a ideal single interception type technique. But in the real world of street fights you will likeley have to block first, so to train both is more realistic.

      this is just kata exercise, not sparring, there is a difference, this is necessary for lower belts rankings and not advanced free form sparring which aims to achieve one movement like my karate teacher can easily do

    The execution looks strange to me. Especially the end is not as exptected. But nevertheless .. very dynamic

    You would not block a kick with the outside edge of your hand. It would break your little finger bone

    • @healingworksyesjohnn
      @healingworksyesjohnn 4 года назад

      my karate teacher has about one inch of muscle outside his little finger and can break several layers of boards with his karate chop, only untrained little fingers have to worry about breaking your little finger, this teacher is brushing off the kick using his twisting hips and moving his body out of the line of attach, he is not as you say blocking the direct force of the kick with his little finger bone, why would any well trained teacher of karate want to break their own body, the training if you loyally devote yourself to develop over many years trains you to precisely not damage yourself unnecessarily, with practice you can do this too!
