Here are a couple other great early weapons: *Flamberge* - Drops from the Thralls using the weapon in the Undead Settlement, though it's a rare drop (5% chance, IIRC), but it's a solid and reliable Greatsword with fairly low stat requirements, as it requires only 15 Strength and 14 Dexterity to wield it. And on top of it's respectable damage, it's also a bit special in that it also applies Bleed at a slightly lower rate than the Uchigatana, but as it's a Greatsword it already can hit pretty hard. The bleeding effect is really just icing on the cake. The easiest way to try and farm it is to use the Cliff Underside bonfire, then go up and kill the fire throwers, drop down and go back across the bridge you had to previously drop down from to reach the Cliff Underside bonfire in the first place, and go back in the doors where the Flamberge-wielding Thrall will drop from the ceiling. Kill the Thrall, and if it doesn't drop the Flamberge, go back to the Cliff Underside bonfire and rest at it to reset the enemies and then repeat the process until the weapon drops. It can take quite a while before it drops though, so be ready for a bit of a long haul if you decide to go to the trouble of trying to farm the weapon. *Claymore* - A fairly standard greatsword, but it can be obtained very early on the High Wall of Lothric (just prior to the Deep Battle Axe), as it's one of the lootable items on the ground in front of where the wyvern is perched and blocking the path into where the Deep Battle Axe can be found. You will have to either avoid the wyvern's fire breath, tank the fire breath, grab the weapon as a suicide run, or you can wait until you have a bow and enough arrows to shoot the wyvern until it finally flies away and makes it comparatively safe to grab the items it was previously guarding..

The butcher knife should have been number 1. It is the most versatile. With the S scaling at +10 you can invest in vitality and equip better armor and ride that weapon through the end of the game. I solo'd nameless king with a combo exile/winged knight set and the butcher knife.
@@n0v3mb3r7 ehh, iudex has always been an extremely easy boss for me, even though he was my first souls boss. plus there aren't any weapons you can get before him other than a starting weapon. vordt is hard for newcomers that don't know you can dodge between his legs, but overall he's also pretty easy, especially if you look up a guide, which a new player would probably do if they were stuck on the second boss for hours.
@@keane6 you have to fight both of them and go through three areas dude. why do people always forget that new players just die in the environment like 20 times. when i played ds3 as my first souls game i think it took me 10 hours before i gave up. i couldnt find the abbyss watchers and made 30 attempts at the crystal sage before giving up entirely. when you play alot of souls games you understand you can run past most stuff and fight bosses quickly but when you are new you know absolutely nothing about the game.
Hey if anyone needs a tip to get the deep battle axe hit the mimic run outside and let the dragon set fire to it I did that on my first ever run and if I didn't trust my instincts and hit the mimic I'd be dead 😂😂😂

The only way to get it is as a 5% chance drop from the Thralls in the Undead Settlement that use the weapon. But it's a really nice Greatsword, as it does solid damage, and on top of it's respectable damage output, it also applies Bleed at a slightly lower rate than the Uchigatana. The Flamberge is one of the few options a Strength build has as far as a weapon that inflicts Bleed goes (only other option I can think of is the Spiked Mace, which can drop from the insane fat women in the Undead Settlement, like the one that is "praying" in front of the burning tree....but the Spiked Mace has a much higher Strength requirement of 24, while the Flamberge only requires 15 Strength & 14 Dexterity, and the Flamberge does comparable damage to the Spiked Mace, at least as far as I can tell).

@@josecarranza7435 Yeah, the Flamberge is pretty reliable early on if you can get it to drop (seriously, the drop chance is so low that you might spend an entire afternoon trying to farm it and still not get it, but that feeling when it finally does drop is so satisfying). I used it against the Curse-Rotted Greatwood and won rather easily (i used the Flamberge rather than the Astora Straight Sword since it did slightly more damage and it had better reach). The Astora Straight Sword is also a great weapon, especially early on. Though, for my own Strength build, the final weapon I settled on as the "main" weapon for that character was the Dragonslayer's Greataxe from the Dragonslayer Armor's soul. If that thing hits with it's weapon art, you're either dead outright, or you're *really* damn close. I know that I've one-shotted an invader with the thing's weapon art at least once. Only real problem I had while using it was the fact that Lightning damage isn't very useful against the Nameless King (since he uses Lightning himself), so I had to switch to a different weapon against him (I still used the axe to kill his dragon though!). Biggest weakness of the weapon art is that it's a bit tricky to land the weapon art since it has a significant "wind-up" before it actually hits, but if you can make sure that it hits, it will deal a ton of damage.
When i got the uchigatana i didnt even have to do anything he charged me and i blocked him then he backed off the edge immediately without me even hitting him.

The poison arrows are OP even in Dark Souls 1.... Remember those anor londo archers on the ledge... Shoot those assholes with arrows while standing in ledge where their arrows cant hit you... Same for the cobra men in Sens Fortress and if you have ring of fog then a lot of enemies even the drakes...

To get the axe you can also use a hunter charm on the mimic.
First mimic is easy though.

its pretty far into the game. so not the best for a beginner who wants a good weapon before the second or third boss.
