Excellent video, as always - though to be honest I wish there were some way to discourage so many people from wanting to breed their snakes. I just see too many wonderful snakes end up in not so good homes. But on another topic - one thing I have run into as a pet keeper who absolutely does not want to breed, is a couple of breeders who would only sell me their snakes (one type of locality Boa and one type of Sand Boa) in a M/F pair. Even though I made it clear that I only wanted a pet and would happily buy a male. I didn't give them a hard time over this - it's their snake, after all - but I have never quite understood their motivation for insisting that I get a male and a female when I don't want to breed.
Yes, I don't understand selling only pairs either. I always price my animals as individuals and very few people buy a pair. And yes, a lot of people who get into breeding are better of not, but with something like locality boas, it is pretty unlikely they will be sucessful in the first place unless they are 100% committed. Hopefully my videos give one the sense of what a commitment breeding boas is...
I appreciate all your videos, and Your snakes are awesome,in my own idiom there are not youtube contents About boa breeding, great work, this Is a big help. Wish to see more of your spectatular boas.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge in sharing your video I love your channel since I've sorry that watching it A couple of days ago I love the fact that you break down the different species in the proper Names of each species and locality speaking of which what is your thoughts on Cross breeding different localities together localities for me I personally would not wanna do it because if that particular Locality is already fragile I would Want to try to sustain that particular unique subspecies or locality and hopes that if the species is in a dire straight situation of extinction there'll be enough samples of the species to try and save it But this is not against those he do cross localities with Locality I just think that they are very unique Species due to the fact that they're not found in no other place in The world Even down to the pre items that they eat and they're habitat it is always interesting how much you can learn About each species Seems like a endless rabbit hole I am just learning about these different localities that I was not even aware of I don't have a favorite they are all very special to me
re breeding...many of these points are true of just about anything! I breed dogs because I am a dog Nerd! It doesn't matter how careful I am when I sell a pup-but every so often up pops one of my owners "Suddenly" ( Yeah Sure!) decides to breed a pup of mine and I swear I can here their brains going Ka Ching...even though I spend hours teaching the person about their pup...sooner or later I get "that" call!
Full disclosure, when someone asks on Facebook what kind of boa they have, I’m totally kidding when I tell them they have a “normal bci 45% het anaconda het IMG”.
I lot of people on FB can't figure out it's a joke, and sarcasm doesn't come across too well in the comments there. One of the reasons I don't spend much time on FB anymore...
Makes me feel good about going with my crawl cay! But I am so very guilty lol. I have Boa fever and all I can think about is getting more crawl cays xD. Baby steps! I love my little dude Odi very very much.
Hoi, i want to start breeding for the first time but i have a question. I have now a bci costa rica (male) and i want a bci female. But does my female also has to be a bci costa rica? If not which boa can i buy more?
this channel is so good... I was thinking of getting a burm or another retic (I own a retic and common boa), but now I am really into getting a True red tail locality. Would really like getting a brazilian one but I cant find breeders here in the UK
Continuing my habit of making very silly jokes: I'm looking forward to the followup video, "Boa Breeding Mistakes Every Boa Breeder Should Be Making!" (if you can figure out how to make that a real video, it would be a great click bait title.)
Thanks for the idea! I'll put my thinking cap on to see if I can come up with something. But no click bait here on Brian Boas! RUclips is not about click bait! ;)
Once again, great video.... I have come across the idea of getting a female hog island boa to breed her with my male. Even though I have about 2 years experience of boa keeping, I wanna wait at least another year before I feel like I’m ready..
I would like to figure out what I am doing “right” so that I could help others be successful….. I’m a breeder by accident….both times my big female got preggers it was caused by the male zipping over there while I was busy cleaning their cages and getting stuck to her like-right away…well I know then you almost have to let them finish what they started coz passing slugs is very hard on the female so….they are hoysed together as we speak-doing the dirty deed….I separate them once a week after carefully checking they arent stuck together so they can rest eat and drink water and I am feeding the male every 10 days since he’s burning extra calories and the female every 21 days because shes actually rather pudgy ( although I will probably start feeding her smaller meals every 14 days now)…..I have 12 snakes-all rescues-they live in large enclosures…. Thry are kept year around at 80 degrees and everyone has a heat pad under the cage so they can thermoregulate
A lot of it is up to the boas and if they want to breed or not. I've had successful breeding when I wasn't trying and the boas were only paired for a few hours, and I've had boas that won't breed no matter what I try.
I have a question. My boa wen I hold her after some time she rubs her face into my arm or hand. I think she like I'm done being held. So I put her back in her tank B4 she bites me. Is that wat it mean wen she do that.
I've heard that Brian Sharp crossed his albino with a Kahl and got double hets to show that Sharp and Kahl albinos are incompatible, but he didn't cross the hets to make double albinos. That would be extremely confusing to try to figure out which ones are which! I don't know of anyone who has done this- anyone out there in boaland know the answer?
Yeah this sounds confusing...imagine doing it..then future owner has to somehow explain when someone asks what kind of morph the animal is.. uuh uh....Blanco!
Just wondering really. Would the double stack show visually differently? Cheers Brian btw. I have been watching ur vids for a few months now in prep for getting a girl this summer
Brilliant and educational video as always, this is the best boa channel on RUclips for sure.
Thanks for your kind words!
This is the most informational boa channel out, this guy deserves way more exposure!
Thanks! Please tell you reptile keeping friends! RUclips doesn't promote newer, smaller channels very much until they get bigger.
YES!!! the male/female ratio for boas is high! Thats something I've always noticed but never hear anything about it!
Yes a lot of people don’t get this
Thanks
This is one of the best videos I have watched yet thank you very much😊
Wow, thank you!
@@BrianBoas ty I watch videos everyday all-day on different snake breeds and breeders and this is by far the best one thank you so much ❤️

Which means you have a black anaconda boa hybrid, which would be worth 20,000 Dollars.💰
Or more
@@BrianBoas 😄
@@alleykat6171 it’s not a hybrid. It’s a BCI het hybrid.

Brian! Do you have Instagram?
Yes, but I don't use it very much
@@BrianBoas Me neither but I definitely use it more than Facebook anymore :( Do you mind linking your instagram? :D
Dude the content is great! If you had better production value/ editing, I think your videos would go big!
In what way?
Hoi, i want to start breeding for the first time but i have a question. I have now a bci costa rica (male) and i want a bci female. But does my female also has to be a bci costa rica? If not which boa can i buy more?
I would strognly advise that you keep your Costa Rican boas pure and only breed to another Costa Rican boa.
What's going on with the hogs? How's that large female you have?
Hoping for a litter this summer! Large female (not breeding this year) is doing well!
A ++++
Thanks!
My boa laid eggs.
all your info has helped , my female is highly gravid an im expecting it to be around the 15th of this month
Ok good luck!
My boas breed even when I would rather they didnt breed even when I tell them NO breeding 😱
Yes, a lot of it is up to the boas and if they want to breed or not. If you don't ant them breeding, keep them separate.
This is literally how I got into breeding. Had an accidental pregnancy with my two red tales amd ended up loving it.
No nonsense, quality information for new boa keepers & breeders. The best channel on RUclips for new keepers! Thanks Brian
I appreciate that! Thank you!
Solid advice top job
Thanks
this channel is so good... I was thinking of getting a burm or another retic (I own a retic and common boa), but now I am really into getting a True red tail locality. Would really like getting a brazilian one but I cant find breeders here in the UK
Awesome! Thank you and good luck!
I don’t want to breed boas, I don’t want morph boas. My dream is a collection of 1 example specimen for each locality.
Some of your thumbnails are ridiculous. lolololol

Hey My motley female have bin in the soaking tub för 10 days now. Can she be pregnant?
That is not typical behavior for a gravid female so probably not

Yes put back in tank
Do you have a website
No
Another fantastic video with epic thumbnail!
Glad you like it!
Has any one done a double albino before? As in take 2 het khal and sharp and bread them together to get a double albino? Both sharp and khal?

I wouldn’t think they would look much different from either a single Kahl or Sharp albino, but a double albino would need to be produced to be sure
