    This conversion is now complete Part 2 is here:
    • WLTOYS 144001 Brushles...
    Next Giveaway will be at 1k Subscribers so be sure to hit that button to stay up to date!
    ***
    Today we start the process of converting this great little buggy to brushless.
    Now this is not the most complicated task but it can be tricky in certain areas and there are certain obstacles to overcome to actually get this thing to work correctly.
    We will be using:
    Racestar 3300kv Motor
    Racestar 60a ESC 2-3s Capable
    JX Digital Servo 17g Metal Gear PDI-1181MG
    Phatbodies ATAK Body
    Phatbodies GURT Wing
    Contact Foams
    The plan is to hopefully run this baby on 3s and see how fast it is.
    Box stock 34mph can easily be achieved to will be interesting to see how fast this is on 3s!
    I know i am not the first to do this conversion and many of you have already done it but thought it would be nice to document my efforts for those of you who may be interested in doing this.
    There are a few issues you will face along the way including the super glued / threadlocked pinion grub screw and motor mount screws without heat you will almost certainly strip the heads.
    But dont panic i will cover all this stuff in the video so be sure to watch closely.
    The reason this is only part one is because i am still awaiting the servo which is currently on backorder from banggood alongside the 3s pack i intend to run.
    This is a pain but not a major issue as i would rather take my time with this one and do it properly.
    Guys i hope you enjoy these are great little buggies and i hope to achieve some decent speed with this one!

    Those are not bad motors & cheap as well, they are indeed a 380 motor internally. A number have used these same f540 motors for speed runs, most go with the 4370kv version on 3s & some have got 75mph + on this little motor. If you want more speed later fit one of the many cheap true 3650 size motors which have the larger size internals. Doing upgrades like this is great fun especially when using low cost parts, it also keeps you off of the streets so to speak. Well until you want to go & run your car. You doing a great job with your vids & good luck.

I'm using the savox 0265 micro servo it's a 27.5 mm servo so it's a mm to small so I just put rubber orings around it to fill the gap and as shock resistance works perfectly metal gear 2.5kg servo .

    If someone is ordering a new motor mount, they might as well order a new pinion. You didn't have any problems getting the motor mount off of the chassis? I saw a guy use a soldering torch to get the tons of thread lock loose to get the motor mount out. I think I'd rather lose a little height and go with the LC Racing straight chassis brace and not take a chance.

    • @beyondRC
      @beyondRC  3 года назад +1

      i used a lot of heat to get the motor screws out of the mount and the pinion off! They use glue instead of threadlock which makes it almost impossible to do without heat! Use some heat and it will come off!

    I Wonder... what's the point in buying a cheap ready to drive RC car and investing probalbly $100+ in new parts to make it professional grade? Why not buying a good car in the first place? I mean how much ist left of the WlToys after all the upgrades?

    • @beyondRC
      @beyondRC  4 года назад +2

      Upgrading to brushless is not making it professional grade at all. We are simply changing the power system from brushed to brushless. Many people do this when looking for more power or just as a project to work on their RC and improve on top speed.
      The stock car is still intact like i said it is just the power system that i am changing.
      I'm not saying this is a mod everyone has to do personally i prefer brushless which is why i am converting its quicker, lighter and more efficient than brushed.
      There are many people out there who are looking to convert to brushless and i am hoping this video educated in a way or at least gives a few tips. If you own one and chose to leave it stock that is down to personal choice.

    • @hasserecht3678

      @@hasserecht3678 Correct to make this work on the 144001 you do need: Brushless motor, ESC, SERVO, Receiver & Transmitter. But you initially said im turning the buggy into professional grade which i am not. The buggy is still a $70 buggy doing this conversion will simply make more power, more speed which is what i enjoy so i hope you can appreciate that it's not for everyone and some people choose to run stock but i enjoy getting stock RC's to go faster to push them to their limits. Converting to brushless doesnt make the 144001 a professional grade RC.
