Everything looked delicious I have a couple of these that I'm sure are probably past the date but I'm still going to do a review this was an enjoyable review thank you for reviewing this menu

There are generally two reasons the FRH does not work for people. One is that it is old enough that there has been moisture intrusion of some sort and the chemical reaction has already very slowly occurred. The second. and most common reason, is that people poor in the water to the fill line and stop there. One must fold the top to the side away from the heating elements and rotate the FRH flat so the heater is on the bottom and the water can saturate all of the elements. Without doing this the only way for the higher elements to get the water needed for the reaction is from steam from the one element getting water at the bottom. When one then decides that it isn't working and removes the retort pouch, quite often the FRH is then accidentally manipulated to soak all the elements and, voila, it starts to work. It can also help to add a bit of salt to the water to encourage the reaction.

I think it was a combination of both. Usually the heater packet is flat and filled with powder. This one was rock hard and all clumped up at one end!
