These pro athletes are really on a different level, my best on Zwift were 57 minutes (fresh), Demi Vollering does this in 10 minutes less at the end of the Tour. @@FTA38yearfreerideSo you're saying the virtual Alpè is harder? I still think, the physical effort is in the same ballpark, having done multiple comparable climbs in the Alps, Pyrenees or just outside my front door. It's good to properly go out of the saddle and swing the bike around on one hand, but it's also great to have huge-a** fan on the other, so I'll call it a draw for an one-hour effort.
@@FTA38yearfreeride Yeah, so it's a good simulation, given the physical complexity to properly replicate it. Temperature, road surface and just the psychological effect of looking up a real steep mountain road. It's not the same but when you're at threshold, your surroundings don't matter as much. I've done the Giau 5 days ago and can't recall much of it. 😁

@@FTA38yearfreeride I think I made it very clear that Demi wasn't a fresh-legs-full-gas effort and I'm not by any means close to her. I think, we don't have to talk about men's vs. women's physiology, there are also 6 minutes between the real Alpè's KOM and QOM. There are indeed differences of 5-10 minutes but I think that's not just simulation failure and just ease of use, the virtual Alpè has 5x more people ranked than the real one, you can just hop on your trainer and any time you feel you have the legs and give it a try with an all-out effort and practically no run-in, so to a certain degree it is expected that you have better times on the simulation. I'll tell you when I ride the real one, on longer Zwift rides not just going up the climb, my times are also 10 minutes longer than my PB.
@@DoNuT_1985 My point the zwift one is almost 20 % shorter in time then the real climb, it has less hm and is 2 km shorter in distance, The Rouvy one comes very close to the real thing.

I know everything is bigger in Conor's world, but great googly moogly! Eleven THOUSAND meters of elevation gained?!? The ol' Alp has had a growth spurt for since Pidcock torched it in the men's tour the other year. I'm amazed the femmes can breathe, let alone ride at that altitude . . . (only joking. We love Conor, seriously).
I think it would be well worth it to put some of the male GCN presenters up against vollering's time just to put things into further perspective -- I reckon if fresh then alex, ollie and si are all comfortably under, but it might be quite a bit closer with some of the others...
Gcn usually just show 1 climb. To really show case how strong pro riders are compare to us mere mortals... they should showcase the riders doing 1 col du glandon follow by 5 minutes to simulate the downhill descent and then the alpe d huez climb...
Chloe is fast but nowhere near Zwift Academy fast - top women are sub-40 on AdZ, so I’m guessing academy contenders are around 40. Would be interested to know how much training Chloe does to see how much room there is to improve.
They said in the video Chloe is only 53kg so averaging around 180 watts should get her under the hour mark. At 61kg I did it 1 hour 5 minutes with mid 180's last weekend, and I spent the middle of the climb around 165 with a stronger start and finish.
@@marty197666 I see, I just had an idea that you had to go with a higher FTP to be under one hour, but it could also be that swift as others has said it shorter than the real climb. The Zwift version is 1.6km shorter than the TdF version. Because the Zwift version does the "tourist" section, that stops before entering Huez, while the TdF version goes through the village and further up. So she did the TdF climb in 49:40, but the Zwift distance in less. Of course that will also be slower on the Zwift distance, since you cut-off the sprint for the finish.
My apps estimated 2h22 for me. I wouldn't even attempt it cos there's no way I could do it my legs would give out pretty quickly 🤣. Although would be interesting to see how far I could get. It would help if I didn't have life long problems with one leg though 🤔🤣.

@@DoNuT_1985 Zwift takes more then 10 minutes less then the real clime, so don't insult Demi by applying she is only 10 minutes faster then an amateur.
I rode the Alpe something like 40 years ago one time. I think it took me closer to 2 hours.
I am curious the difference between doing the climb on Zwift vs real life in terms of time difference...
Zwift alpe takes more then 10 minutes less then the real clime
What a climb!
Awesome effort, it's funny though, I'm 57 kg and soon to be 58 and usually do the climb in around 44 minutes,PB is 41.59, but I didn't have to do 2000m of climbing before hand. 👍
both excellent efforts. Did anyone spot which British Olympic medallist rode up the Alpe faster than Demi V in 2012?
Emma Pooley! That was during the Haute Route - we TT'd up Alpe d'Huez and hung out at the pool afterwards.
Chloe defo needs to compete.
Well it looked fast to me. Fantastic Tour and what a stage, watched it a few times, pure drama.
Nicely done Conner.
Top job. Do you have a new female presenter lined up now Manons left?
Anyone remembers what was the brand that made the GCN socks back in a day when they had the GCN Club and would send you a pair every month?
If you race in a big city in the USA, your local cat1 man that tends to win most of the races, the top women have about the same watts/kg as that guy.
Good video, shame I've bailed out of Zwift! 😂
Zwift gives you 25km free a month, technically as long as you don't do the descent on the first go you could do it twice a month.
Chloe, go pro!
So this is basically a unmarked Zwift advertisement?!
Surely you should have got Illi Gardner for this? You got her to do the Col du Tourmalet in June 2023 . . . . .
Chloe is fast but nowhere near Zwift Academy fast - top women are sub-40 on AdZ, so I’m guessing academy contenders are around 40. Would be interested to know how much training Chloe does to see how much room there is to improve.
At my current weight, I would have to do 470W for 46mn to tie the fastest girl's time up the Alpe. There is no way I could do that.
how do they go below one hour when they only pull 150-160 watts during the climb? I only saw above 200 watts in the final sprint
They were doing more than that. I was seeing 180. Probably about right? I was just over 3w/kg to beat one hr
I dont use swift so I can only compare my own time above one hour with another app, and that was below 3w/kg for sure.
@@Ravenblade86 you mean also on swift? I guess the weight has a big impact of course, was just expecting them to have higher watts when their presentation was about how well they are trained. I dont know how many watts the female pros are riding, only the men.
I think the boys at gcn did a video from the circuit? Worth a hunt for research...? 🤔
What's the mens record? Of course the men are slowed down by the massive crowds.
I don't feel so bad having seen this I did it on Zwift day after race 1hr 30mins just getting back after illness and old enough to be these girls Granddad aiming to get it down I hr next couple of weeks, if I can do that I can tell Audrey Cordon-Ragot I have ridden it faster I know Sarah Gigante but I will never beat her time for that climb or Demi's or the girl there with the best time. Interesting to see and what a great race the TDFF was this year. Can you only see Strava segments for this on the paid subscription that is all I want Strava for I am trying to find out if I need free or paid for this, helpful if you can tell me thanks. Tell the girls if they ride it again they will get faster once a week should do it😍
Isn‘t the QOM held by British amateur cyclist Illi Gardner?
Should have gave them a rocker plate and a kickr climb instead of a static bike.
Send them up the real mountain in stead of this , this is fake and is fooling an audience!!
@@FTA38yearfreerideI've done the real thing too, thanks!
@@chloepaton5115 yea and for sure not in 56 minutes !! 😅btw i´v done the real thing more then 30 times😉
Vollering‘s time was about 49:40 on alpe d‘huez. Her best time might be 46 but in the TDFF she did 49:40.
Loved it there & very impressive girls
Lugworms for everyone!
56 ist amazing, i think,, my best was 54, but i almous died. 50x climb and u are the masochist. I see people doing it in 34 minutes in rankings.
How on earth are the ladies chatting while killing themselves!?! Bionic women!!
My apps estimated 2h22 for me. I wouldn't even attempt it cos there's no way I could do it my legs would give out pretty quickly 🤣. Although would be interesting to see how far I could get. It would help if I didn't have life long problems with one leg though 🤔🤣.
Do the same with the guys using the women's race as the benchmark.
Armstrong can do it in 7 min with proper drug.
Video link please..😅

What’s going on with Connor’s hair int his video . He so looks like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber here 😂 “we’ve landed on the moon”!
Connor wtf have you done to your hair!
Thomas Ruth Miller Melissa Gonzalez David
RIP Manon😂
took me 2 hours to do it.
Great job!
I'd love to know what the women's record is on Alpe d'Huez. There's endless info on men but I couldn’t find anything on the web on the stats for women.
Strava says QOM is Illy Gardner at 42:36. 2nd is Emma Pooley 45:51. 3rd Demi Vollering 46:23. TdFF 2024 winner Kasia Niewadoma is 5th at 46:28.
@HyuugaKirine brill thanks 😊
Next up: Ollie vs the female Alpe d Huez winner 😛
Ollie tried the AdZ against Ashley Moolmein-Passio.
🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
Give me a week.
I miss Manon
Oh wauw I didn't know she stopped at GCN. 😭
Gobshite!
It is nobody's business what presenters or do in their spare time
@@mclogged2280 Must be a different Hank.
I miss Manon too, but there are surely other tough and charming girls in this field. Let's watch and see how they develop 😊
Day 3 of asking for a free bike😂
how fast were the guys? waiting on that video.
