I’m not even a statue guy, but this is an awesome piece!! I would also be worried about that lean 😬
We have this one at the shop! I keep thinking about bringing it home, at least for a while. It would look amazing in a scene with my similar scale Surfer, and other cosmic characters around them. However, my statue area isn't big enough to do it justice, which means I either put them in a part of the house where no one else can see them, OR in a place that directly brings them into conflict with my wife's decor. She'd tolerate them for a while, because she's cool with superhero stuff (she has to be to married to a collector like me), but eventually they would overstay their welcome.
Awesome job gem and make sure you feed him a lot of food lol.
I'd just have added a small wedge under his foot that kept him straight but if you can get one for the price you paid that wasn't repaired I'd go with a non repaired piece.

Hey GM, Great vid, What about making two small wedges likened to a doorstop wedge that could use to resolve this issue. They could be made of light timber so easy to sand to size...paint black and would not really be noticed...Just a thought...Cheers Mate!

Great video, great looking statute, and I love how you took the time to explain all the extraordinary details of each piece and the colors. I feel like if it’s leaning, then at some point it will probably get damaged or it can easily be damaged on an accident by someone just walking by it to quickly

Galactus digging in the scene with a gangsta lean. I know people who stand like that, I don't think it's actually leaning. You have to look at the head and determine how level it is. If it's not very level, then it's got a bad lean. If it is, then it's got a natural lean.

That looks like it should have had a much heftier key and peg for such a large piece. Color scheme seems a little off but not bad by any means. I’ve got one statue that was new from the manufacturer that has a lean and I ended up taking it apart until I figure out how I’m going to display it. Sucks that this didn’t end up being the one, the hunt goes on!

haha, right at the end when it was turning, it fell forward a little.
That’s a nice piece but that lean is an accident waiting to happen. The body color not matching the helmet, arms and boots is noticeable. Another great Statue unboxing video 👍🏻

I have been looking to pick up the OG Galactus Maquette. It’s been on my grail list for quite a long time. Wish I could find one for a decent price.

Return it. My #1 rule if you buy something expensive, "You have to love it." You have a nice statue, but those defects are going to keep bothering you. This is no different than having a nice sports car but the only thing you see is that big scratch on it
I'm actually hunting down several statues I regretted not buying. Like that Galactus, none of them are easy to find but once you get it, its a bigger victory.
Or just use that as an opportunity to practice not sweating the small stuff. If you love something enough, a small scratch and minor dings are easily overlooked.

That's a mean lean, I'm always worried about larger pieces and how they'll support themselves. So far the biggest piece I have is Kratos on Throne. It was bigger than I thought and I'm still struggling to find a place to display him.

I recently picked up this piece for $400. The only issue i have is unfortunately the blues have become gray. Im assuming the previous owner or one of the owners had him in direct sunlight. Yet all the reds look great its just the blue

I got this when it came out and one of the head fins magnets was backwards so it would push it out. They sent me a replacement statue and been enjoying it since although I would def sell for right price lol. Was buying a ton of statues in the early 2010's but then had to dip cause of some life changes but still kept them all.. 30-40 in all.

Hey, Gem. Good video. I’ve owned this Galactus Maquette for years and have no leaning issues. Maybe yours is drunk on Galactic Black-Hole Vodka! 🤣. In any event, it is a kick-ass statue.
I have this amazing piece also and made the hard choice to replace it with a custom which should be coming sometime this month. I might do a side by side comparison and post some pics on the group site. whoops never mind just remembered no custom pics on the site.
That is a really cool repaint job. That lean is mean tho', I have a PVC statue that has a lean like that and from time to time, when I get home I'll find it on the floor from falling over. It has a small base that i have to weigh down, anyways I'd be nervous that you'd hear a thunderous crash and see it on the floor. Good luck, great video!!
I’m gonna wait and hope Iron Studios does a 1/10 scale Galactus with FF and Silver Surfer and maybe other Marvel proximity statues, Dr. Doom, Avengers, Hulk, Spidey?
I only have 3 Statues by 3 different companies.lol. a Diamond Select Batman Statue, Square Enix Play art's MoS Black suit Superman (2013) exclusive to a comic con might be from (2012)... And Then I got Sideshow Hot Toys Captain Marvel (LoL,I know ,I know,but it was super cheap). All brand new unopened.
To be honest, statues are huge investment. And if your not happy with its and you have the option do it. The lean would get me, I couldn't take the chance of having the piece get broken because of some random shift from the statue, that is a lot of money to have do that.

That's an awesome statue. The lean would bother me but i might would have kept it if the price was right.
Question for you Gem, what is your favorite 1/4 scale iron man statue? and are there any iron man grail's out there in your opinion? For me I don't really love any of the iron man statues that i have seen.

Yeah, it's the leaning tower of Galactus! If you're not 100% happy with it, you should get rid of it. I prefer the stern look. He's so powerful, nothing should make him angry.
Reminds me of my Ryu statue that came with sf5 … it’s top heavy and leans forward bad

Hulk. There goes GEM MINT again with another killer review. Jim (the delivery guy) probably had little trouble with this one.... he lost a ton of weight and is working out.
Mine leans forward in the first place as well. However, 5 years past, mine keeps the same position so I think it's the design not QC issue.

I wish sideshow reissued this. I was desperate for a Galactus, and I do not like the new one which only stands 25''. But i came across a custom studio making a nice Galactus that stands 42'' consuming a planet. Would you know what Galactus I'm talking about, if so what are your thoughts on it? I could use an expert opinion.

Have this on my collection and when I bought it second hand the peg went inside the foot so it’s leaning a lil. So basically only the key is holding it, risky since I have it up high next to the SS Silver surfer. Might have to chip away to pull the peg out. One of my first pieces I ever bought. Best Galactus no doubt, love it.

Reminds me of the Kotobukiya Agent Smith vinyl piece I have. First one I had fell over and broke so had to buy it a second time and that one threatened many times to repeat the fall. These days it's inside a glass case so it can't fall down but that has a nasty lean which is difficult to correct. Even with it pegging the front foot into the base, it just doesn't want to stand upright and balanced
Makes me wonder how it will visually compare with Hasbro’s upcoming action figure version. Seems like they are close enough in size.

Cool piece man, I get the lean, for sure a concern... however I would return for the pain difference. If he painted the head and arms too that would be a comic perfect statue man. Although the thrown one sounds cool... easier to display too.

If this didn’t have the leaning issue it is definitely a keeper. The new SS one does not excite me at all. I would of rather preferred SS do do a 1/4 scale Bust of Galactus and display him in the background of my other 1/4 scale cosmic statues.

I have come across a few of these most have that issue or the lights don't work, the Sentinel piece they made was far superior in build quality compared to this in my opinion. This is probably one of the most over priced aftermarket pieces for the quality

That leaning issue is a no go.
The paint doesn't bother me at all mainly because of the light up features. They go well together. That lean is very troublesome though. Still a great looking piece.

Man that is a fantastic looking piece of Galactus. It's too bad that it has that extreme leaning problem otherwise I would tell you to keep it. I am not very impressed with the new smaller scale of Galactus by Sideshow. I still say and would definitely jump in on buying a full human size bust of Galactus whenever they make one. By the way Gem I am looking for a Sideshow 1/4 scale Sabertooth of a year ago in case Todd might have one.

I’ve been considering to buy my first statue. But I was going to ask for your feedback. Do you invest in a statue or invest in key books? I’m a father of six boys. And just considering giving them some thing as they get older.
Anything I buy, I try to make sure it’s something it will appreciate. Sometimes I go in know it’s short term or long term. I don’t really invest in books because I don’t have the patience to wait… but that’s just me
