Oakton High School, Vienna, VA Class of 1970 Commencement Exercises - June 6, 1970

A brief video of the graduation ceremony for the Class of 1970 of Oakton High School in Vienna, VA. The Class of 1970 was the second graduating class of OHS, which opened its doors in September 1967. The ceremony was marked by the deafening noise of the cicadas which made it difficult to hear the speakers on the platform in the middle of the high school football stadium. Now, 51 years later in May/June 2021, we are experiencing the 3rd cycle of the 17-year reemergence of the cicadas, bringing back memories for many former students who are now in their late 60s.
