  • In this episode of the Molecule Pod by Eurogas, recorded on 11 July, Caroline Braun from Landwärme discusses BECCS (Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage) and its potential to reduce emissions and achieve negative emissions. BECCS involves converting biomass into energy carriers while capturing and permanently storing CO2. Landwärme is at the forefront of biogas upgrading and carbon removals, capturing CO2 as the off-gas stream of biogas upgrading. The technology is ready for implementation, but financial incentives and regulatory support are needed to scale up BECCS and incentivise negative emission creation. BECCS offers benefits such as waste management, renewable energy generation, job creation, and biodiversity preservation. Negative emissions are crucial for reaching net zero and countering rest emissions. BECCS can play a significant role in achieving these goals.
