For anybody planning to use these for outdoors, hiking, hunting, camping, emergency kit, etc., then you really don't have a choice between these 2. Besides the HC33 having strobe, beacon & being lighter, it can also use 2xCR123 batteries. 2 of these are 15-17 grams lighter than 1x18650 battery. They also perform better in below freezing temps & a Li-Ion probably won't work at all when it gets close to 0°. Can also keep CR123s on standby/stored for years & they will be ready to go. They only lose 5% capacity in 10yrs. A Li-Ion can not be stored fully charged & if you did, it would not be full in a couple months or couple years (they self discharge).
Does either have a red lense option? Being able to use in the woods and not disturb others would be nice.
This was an excellent, and much appreciated video! 👍👍 Using your link to get the Thrunite right now. This looks perfect for things I like to do like plumbing+electrical work, bike riding at night, and evening security walks around the neighborhood...plus I've got a ton of USB devices, chargers, and some 18650s already.
Glad the the video helped. Hope you enjoy your light
Of these two I'd prefer the Thrunite for the USB recharge ability, and I prefer the way the Thrunite cycles through the modes personally... I agree that this style is great for the ability to go from headlamp to clip on.
Dude, very decent review.
Thanks - I appreciate that.
@@EverydayTacticalVids Need a 90 deg light ( wont use as headlamp) my top 2 are Fenix HM61R and Thrunote TH30...any thoughts?

Hi, could someone please tell me if anybody else makes a right angle USB rechargeable flashlight that’s comparable to the Thrunite? Thanks, Tony

Watch this whole thing and surprised that you did not mentioned the magnetic tail on the HC 33 or the included diffuser.. Do you know of any place that would sell a green or red lens to put on these? That & a sleep timer is about the only thing the HC33 does not do.
I would go for the nitecore the nitecore batteries are the best.
Why are companies still making lights that are not usb rechargeable?
Wow I’m a year late on commenting on this but it can be dangerous. You see this most in vape products where they have the usb charging port but these ports are mainly for firmware upgrades. The chargers for 18650 batteries are relatively cheap roughly 20-30 dollars for a 2 bay charger which is safer, faster, and will help with the life of the batteries. Hope this helped I mean the usb charger does have its place in emergency situations.
The turbo mode on the Thrunite is insanely bright. It's amazing punch for such a small package. I like the slightly smaller size and optional modes of the Nitecore, but also like the USB port on the Thrunite. Either light would be a fine choice. Decisions, decisions...
A silver van that close was pretty lame or a test target. I couldn't tell the major difference. Real world test targets would give better results to base a choice of lights on.
Nitecore for the win 🏆, easier button cycling, smaller, brighter, just all around a better quality light, not a fan of usb charging, you get better charging when using a quality charger..
I have 2 hc 33 I love them my favorite and go to I'm thinking about get the hc35
watch some reviews of it first my dude
@French Frys It's a bit heavy. You might get a mark on your forehead if you wear it for hours lol. Also the 2700 lumen mode only lasts a couple of minutes before overheating, even in zero degrees temperature. The damn thing is just too powerful for its size
@French Frys Yes they will work just fine, you get an adapter with the box. The battery included is nice and I'll probably get the 5000mah battery sooner or later. Here's the link, the battery is called 21700
www.nitecorestore.com/NITECORE-NL2150-21700-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Battery-p/bat-nite-21700-nl2150.htm
@French Frys The 21700 is a bit bigger and heavier but holds way more capacity, hc33 only supports 18650
Have you done any trail running with HC33's ?
Thanks for a great review.
Have you had them out trail running ? The Thrunite seems a bit large/heavy for that. The HC33 seems to be on the line being just a bit heavy.
I have the Nitecore HC60, just wanted a tad more light. Charging a no issue, have several batteries/chargers (specifically Nitecore UM2 2 bay USB charger).
Have you reviewed the nitecore hc 35
im not sure pointing it at the side of your car that reflects light is the best way to compare these...maybe do like trees from a distance
Wonder how the Olight and Rofis R3 compare to these
Olight H2R that is
I have had Nitecore HC30. Which became replaced by Thrunite TH30 and later TH10 V2.
Nitecore HC30 is otherwise a great headlamp but I could not stand the user interface: despite there is direct access to firefly and turbo these are still included in the memory cycle for the regular modes. Really stupid and annoying! And what I know Nitecore still has not changed this interface.
With Thrunite firefly and turbo are not included in the memory.
Regarding the user interface of Thrunite TH30and(TH10 V2 is the same) I agree with the drawback that SOS mode is a part of the sequence. BUT: this is only if you change the mode directly after you turn on the lamp. After the light being on around 3s or longer it will not pass through SOS but go down to low mode. This function may also be disputable but I personally like that it goes down to low mode first: if I have mid mode and want go down to low mode I don't need to pass through high mode before reaching low mode.
Which better? ( My english is bad ) :(
I think I will go for the Thrunite, reasons being Lumens and USB charging, I would prefer if the thrunite had Nitecore's UI and a lens you can focus.
The last feature which would make this lamp perfect is Thermal Controls, because the Turbo Mode appears to be on a timer rather than actual thermal sensors, meaning that if you had the lamp near a fan or just in very cold weather with Thermal Controls it should stay in Turbo Mode for longer.
If anyone knows of other Flashlights that compare with the two tested in this video please tell me, would be quite helpful
Built in charging batteries will fail Nitrcore you can have replaceable rechargeable batteries. :)
@@sorrowinchrist3387 you can take the battery out of the thrunite as well. It is a 18650 just like the nitecore is
@@sorrowinchrist3387 the difference is, you can charge the thrunite battery from the light itself whereas with the nitecore, you'll have to have a special charger to charge the 18650
The HC33 does have temp control, which is why they don't list the step down schedule. If it cools down it will automatically get brighter, up to what the current battery voltage will allow.
Has anyone had their TH30 fail to turn back on after charging over USB?
Check the spring when you open to remove the battery it gets out place
@@elpaisapower9320 Turns out wiping the battery contact areas and battery terminals worked, a ThruNite customer rep suggested this and said there might have been residual oils from the factory.
The Thrunite WINS!
Nitecore HC33 has replaceable batteries however you need a device to charge it so no its not that good now! :(
Prefer that it not charge in the light. The USB charging (like on the Trunite) reduces water resistance, adds size & maybe weight to the light & charges the battery too fast which reduces it's life & capacity. Also, when not using a Li-Ion battery for more than a week or 2, they need to be left at 3.6V & stored in low temps 32-75°, which can be done with an external charger/analyzer.
they have a life time warranty right or what's the point of buying them nt saying anything bad Pelican products or surefire flashlights lifetime warranty !!! it brakes we fix it now that's a product
Thruright paid for both to be reviewed... hmmm. Bias not much
How would you compare these to the olight H2R Nova?
Very similar - just some specs are slightly different.
