Curtis Jones is a beautiful footballer. Touch, energy, eye for a pass, and can keep the ball very well under pressure and in tight spaces. Maturing quickly. Love watching him. Proper player.
Underrated player. Last season there was a long string of games where Jones was all over the pitch and you could see his teammates played better with him nearby. He was always an option when under pressure, and that calmed everyone down. Curtis is not going to look flashy, but I think he fits Slot's system.
Joe Gomez is so underrated. Alice, before his knee went, him and Van Djik were the number one pairing before we went on to win the league. He's been very unlucky with injuries, he's a top defender, not many teams have as good a back up.

Gomez thought it was 2019 again and played out of this world. He definitely has been amazing for us and if he can get to his absolute best he will definitely challenge Ibou for his starting position. Injuries have kept him out of the side. Good to see him back to his best.
I am a Liverpool fan, and I thought Brighton are easily the best side we have faced this season. They are an amazing team and they will beat many ‘bigger’ names this season. Today, we were appalling in the first half - easily the worst we have been under Slot. But as with the Arsenal and Brighton games this week, we came out and totally dominated the second half. Slot is so sharp tactically and I have never seen a coach as sharp in a game since Mourinho in his pomp. The subs today were excellent. Konate has been our best defender, but today Gomez was better than Konate had been. Konate is dominant in the air, but Brighton play it on the deck, and Gomez was much sharper there (some of his tackles and interceptions were brilliant) and he was much better on the ball than Konate had been (critical given how much we gave away in the first half). Gomez was just fantastic in the second half. Ditto, Endo came on to protect the lead when we had gone 2-1 up, and he was amazing - he just completely reversed the picture of Brighton winning the 50/50s and loose balls - suddenly they were all Endo’s - he was amazing. Diaz gave us control and a threat of running at Brighton with the ball that we had lacked in the first half, and frankly Brighton were very lucky to avoid a double yellow, as they repeatedly fouled Diaz as the only way they could stop him. Bradley was less spectacular, but still a smart sub to put him on the right and kill Brighton’s creativity on that side.
Konate was our best player last week against Arsenal. The injury he had last year hurt him when he came back. This year he's been excellent. He runs down players that go past Trent. He has blocked more shots than anyone in the league this year. Everyone thinks the center back duo at Arsenal are the best, but I'm sorry VVD and Konate are right there with them 2.

People tend to forget that on his game, Joe Gomez was one of the best defenders in the world. His ability to cover runs in behind is outstanding, very similar level to Konate right now. The only difference is that Konate is stronger in the air and slightly stronger in duels.

LFC fan here, I totally agree with all you said, Kostas probably had his best game since he joined, cujo was excellent but shout out to Kelleher, that save at 1 nil was a big moment, if Brighton had gone 2 up it would have been even more difficult than it was. As a Liverpool fan, what I love most is the fact that players like Jones, Gomez, and Endo are pushing key teammates despite playing bit parts. That will keep them all improving. Healthy competition is happening elsewhere too, like Diaz-Gakpo and Robertson-Tsimikas.
Liverpool didn't get Amorim? They never tried they ruled him out early, he was on a list yes but the club decided early that his 3 at the back would not fit the current squad or the club. It's the same Sky pundits pushing this narrative but Mel Ready came out with the actual facts during the transfer window.
The 'Liverpool didn't get Amorim' line is only being peddled by United fans and Neville. Amorim was touting himself around prem clubs and was even turned down by West Ham FFS. Alonso would have been a risk and too big a stylistic change. Slot already confirmed he was Liverpool's preferred candidate - the club approached him back in February FFS.
Liverpool never wanted Amorim over Slott. Amorim was a candidate, but from what I understand he was always behind Slott in terms of Livepool's preference. Even West Ham didn't want Amorim. Alonso was the favoured option, but once he decided to stay at Leverkusen, Slott was the frontrunner.

Brighton were superb in the first half and totally dominated Liverpool. The 2nd half was almost a complete reversal and all of Slot’s subs made a difference. Gakpo and Salah are really good when they cut inside; Salah just needs one chance and he takes it. Liverpool lost a lot of 50/50 challenges in the first half but were much better in the 2nd. It was a close match but Liverpool deserved the win especially after weathering the first half drubbing they got.
My frustration hit peak when City went 2 down, and I started ranting at the radio commentary, but I noticed the crowd noise at Anfield also went up a notch. I think the crowd carried the team to the win. They knew an opportunity was there, and I think the players picked up on it. What a day.

As for Alonso, he had his thing going on at Leverkusen and is fairly new to managerial career.
Slot was the guy who ticked all the boxes as he wasnt too different from klopp and had a bit more experience than Alonso.
Amorim also said he wanted to build his own team and obviously FSG said no.

LFC fan here, I totally agree with all you said, Kostas probably had his best game since he joined, cujo was excellent but shout out to Kelleher, that save at 1 nil was a big moment, if Brighton had gone 2 up it would have been even more difficult than it was. But Jomez, agh that header, his 1st goal on a plate, dammit🤣but a very important 3pts considering Arsenal and City both lost. And Hank Shrader already making his mark, 1st manager to win 8 games from 10 top flight games. Gravi-Alonso didn't have his best game but he's been brilliant all season so he's forgiven. And Mo, well Mo does Mo things, sometimes frustrating, sometimes class but always gives the numbers. Nit bad fir a 'one season wonder'. Trent was exceptionally poor 1st half, he was just crap, better 2nd half though. Endo beast when he came on. Up the Reds!

As a Liverpool fan, what I love most is the fact that players like Jones, Gomez, and Endo are pushing key teammates despite playing bit parts. That will keep them all improving. Healthy competition is happening elsewhere too, like Diaz-Gakpo and Robertson-Tsimikas.
Liverpool didn't get Amorim? They never tried they ruled him out early, he was on a list yes but the club decided early that his 3 at the back would not fit the current squad or the club. It's the same Sky pundits pushing this narrative but Mel Ready came out with the actual facts during the transfer window.
The 'Liverpool didn't get Amorim' line is only being peddled by United fans and Neville. Amorim was touting himself around prem clubs and was even turned down by West Ham FFS. Alonso would have been a risk and too big a stylistic change. Slot already confirmed he was Liverpool's preferred candidate - the club approached him back in February FFS.
Liverpool never wanted Amorim over Slott. Amorim was a candidate, but from what I understand he was always behind Slott in terms of Livepool's preference. Even West Ham didn't want Amorim. Alonso was the favoured option, but once he decided to stay at Leverkusen, Slott was the frontrunner.

He plays 3-4-3 and Liverpool don't have the players suited for that system and neither do Man utd, it's be interesting to see Man Utd play under him. A correction - it is not that Liverpool's owners have not backed Slot. They were ready to splash 60m on Zubimendi. But Liverpool spends money very wisely. I believe they might go for a defender in January
Brighton were superb in the first half and totally dominated Liverpool. The 2nd half was almost a complete reversal and all of Slot’s subs made a difference. Gakpo and Salah are really good when they cut inside; Salah just needs one chance and he takes it.
Liverpool lost a lot of 50/50 challenges in the first half but were much better in the 2nd. It was a close match but Liverpool deserved the win especially after weathering the first half drubbing they got.
That's really Slots thing. Did that a lot at Feyenoord too.
My frustration hit peak when City went 2 down, and I started ranting at the radio commentary, but I noticed the crowd noise at Anfield also went up a notch. I think the crowd carried the team to the win. They knew an opportunity was there, and I think the players picked up on it. What a day.

Slot did not want to make many changes to our squad in the transfer window because he felt it was really good. He even confirmed that after his first game Vs Ipswich. No doubt, now that he has had a chance to assess what exactly he needs, he will make signings either January or start of next season 😎 No room for panic buys here...
