We all have respect for Slot and loved Klopp. But to compare the transition from Klopp to Slot to Shankley and Paisley is an insult to the great Shankley and Paisley.
Shankley brought Liverpool to from the 2nd Division to win 3 1st Division titles, 2 FAs and 1 UEFA, Paisley brought in another 6 league titles, 3 UCL (European Cup) and 1 UEFA Cup.
Those were the days that even the great Jurgen Klopp could not match. And as for Slot, it is still too early to compare him to Paisley. He is not even one season in charge, mate.

So true. I hate seeing Utd win titles (Liverpool fan here) but when City does it you just go "meh" because we all know its bollocks. Hurts when they're taking them off us though! Can't wait to see them relegated.
We have to admit, money played a big part in Liverpool and United glory years. City have their golden period of investment now. Its still 11 on 11. And, its unfair to say City don't have history. They won 2nd division in 1898-99, 1st division in 1936-37 and FA cup in 1903-04. I hate it they are denying Liverpool more titles. But, don't begrudge them their glory years. I just hope and expect Liverpool to win titles even against a loaded City. However, it will take another 8 titles before I start hating them like United.

Liverpool, City and Arsenal have not been playing at their best/full potential BUT Liverpool have been doing the basics right and winning the ugly games, which is what matters at the end of the day. As much as every fan wants to see their team play world class football week in, week out, it's just not possible when you have 4 main cups to compete for. I personally don't feel it's City's year, mainly due to the fact that they lack motivation because they have been winning everything the past years. Arsenal haven't won anything major in recent times, so they don't know how to get a title over the line. Liverpool still have 7 players who have won every trophy while at the club, so they have that advantage of being able to get another title over the line.

To be fair, City has also won a lot of ugly ones already this season. I think they've scored a last minute winner twice, came behind first half a few times and had to fight back, and beat some of the lesser teams with minimal difference.

Liverpool has the strongest squad. We have 2 solid players in each position. If one player has a dip in form, the replacement is more than capable and ready to enter the fray. Even our 3rd choice keeper Jaros is class.
We are passing all the tests. The key for me is how all our players can put in MOTM performances. Konate, Gakpo, Salah, Jones, Gravenberch, Kelleher, Allison, Diaz, VVD, Gomez, Jota and on….there is not one player who has more than 1 poor game in a row and when you have that collectively you mostly win.
If can beat man city at home there is a high chance of winning the league

I’m glad you mentioned Endo, Slot seems to have gotten a feel for the players he has now. He’s comfortable bringing Endo in to shut down attacks in the midfield with the lead at the end of the game.

Fair play that’s a very honest well structured analysis of a rival team.
It was fascinating watching Liverpool passing in the back the end of the game against Brighton. Swear to God that Klopp would had them running more upwards. No offence to Klopp, but I think he didn’t evolve the tactics enough at the end. It flattened out I think.
So now under slot you can see the players reverting to keeping that lead instead of going for that third goal.
The tactics and the adaptations slot is doing is working exceptionally right now at this stage in the season

so long as he starts on the bench he's fine, he hasn't played well when starting, he's been great off the bench
He’s a hero alright, but unsung is a wide wide wide stretch. Every fan constantly points him out for his tap-in and penalty-worthy trip over as a hero.
I mean he IS good and is in form, but honestly everyone is in our midfield, all of them are an almost flawless cog in Slott’s machine, hence are we on the top. Jones is class, but not for why he is pointed out. It’s just superficial bullshit.
He is great in retention and progression, but a bit hotheaded in shot selection and does not care enough about rest defence in these times. He’s trying hard when pressing though.

While I was listening, a couple of thoughts entered my head from God knows where - it certainly wasn't from the aromatic ciggies, I don't partake! lol
The first was, I wonder if the City players are subconsciously thinking about the 115 charges and what might happen to THEM if, as it should be, the charges are proven! 🤭
The second was, I wonder if Pep is doing a Jurgen and has told the club/his squad that he is leaving at the end of the season - only he's not making it public......yet!
It might be a combination of both or it could just be that the injuries - which EVERY club has and City have TWO first elevens! - are the reason they are not quite on it?

The real reason for Liverpool form is Arne. Even when players did not play well they never lose focus. LFC today remind me of Germany in 90`s. Slot is next level manager. He never panic and his control of the game is insane
I'm enjoying the success. But, there's still a doubt that Slot is a bit too conservative at times. I'm happy and hoping to be proven wrong...or slot just adjusts to attack the mid-table and bottom half teams a lot more. Having said that, I doubt FSG could have picked a better successor to Klopp.

And the fact he wasn't even a well known sought out manager from a top league/top team is even more impressive. Even a top 4 finish is outstanding work . As long as the pressure is on City and Arsenal have injuries Liverpool could build a title winning lead in the next few months. However Slot is good at making his players take responsibility so as long as he does that the players will thrive under pressure. Hopefully Slot can get the right balance in terms of mentality in other competitions, 85 points could do it for the PL.

As always, spot on analysis Alice. There's always pressure on Liverpool, however the players are used to it now. The majority of the group have been together for a long time so they understand how to deal with it. Look at the past 2 seasons where we were in the running for the quadruple. That was pressure on the daily.
Slot is a picture of perfect calm on the side lines and is ruthless. If you don't perform, he will haul you off. He doesn't panic. This resonates with the team and rubs off on the players in pressure situations. His in game tactical adjustments is 2nd to none. A signing or 2 come January and less injuries sets us up nicely for a League title. We have the potential to win lots of silverware this season. We are improving and players returning from injury are contributing positively. Keep our feet on the ground, stay humble and put in the hard yards. That's the foundation of our success.

I think there probably is pressure, as the last of the Klopp era teams, to go and win everything, before Slot properly shifts about this summer. Slot is good, but that team was built by Klopp, and we need a full transfer window or two, to truly see what Slot is about.
Watch the games. It's more than what Klopp built but tactical decisions Slot makes to help Liverpool win.

What impressed me most about Slot was his off the field ability. The ability to make a team without being the primary focus. Every month he had a different training programma thats focussed on a specific subject. Like breathing or running. Made sure the players keep focussing on improvements to a point that there would be a breakfast club where a lot of players would arrive at 7 to start with exercises.
Alice, you should be anchoring MOTD, you'd be amazing and a breath of fresh air.

The contracts are under negotiation, but the previous DoF really should have nailed them down a year ago. Having a temporary DoF in the role didn't help. It's not a case of them not backing Slott, they've all inherited a situation where the players have all the cards, and time will tell what comes of that. I admire Slott's ability to push all that aside and focus on the things within his control.
The bonus of Slott is he's a coach first as seen in the way we are playing, teams have moved to getting named managers who buy instead of coach what they have and he seems to be able to put round pegs into round holes so there's a cohesive team if isn't working then he moves the pegs to different holes to find a solution rather than trying to force square pegs into the round holes
