I got tired of all the different sized cases that came with my lights. So I switched up to a more uniform solution. The crate system is an industry standard for grip trucks, so I put my own spin on it!

What do you use for lighting storage?
suit cases,
@@Cinegavo Do you leave the socks and britches as padding?
@@PDMokry haha yeah. Just the internal foam like you
This is great, seems like a really efficient and convenient solution. Definitely something I'll try as I get more lights.
Thank you so much. This saves me so much space and time!
This was the most straightforward and useful video I could have asked for. Cheers man!
Thank you so much! Glad I could be of help!
Love this idea. I'm going to try it out for sure. Way more efficient use of space compared to all those different sized bags/cases the lights come in.
Saves a ton of space once you match up cases.
🔥 I am very happy to find your channel, it is like having found the entire season of friends without having seen it before! I am watching each of the videos, there are tons of material that helps us all in this medium to grow, thank you very much for doing All this
That is awesome to hear! Sometimes my videos just don’t get seen much. But if the right people get to see them, that is what matters most.
Glad you are enjoying the content!
Welcome to the channel and thanks for the sub!
Wow, that's ingenuity at work. I think I may try this but with the collapsible crates.
It has made my prep and on site workflow quicker!
Bro this is so smart. I'm learning a lot from you for my grip van. Do you have a cart build video? I've been looking through your channel, those carts you built are awesome.
That is awesome to hear!
Need to find a sponsor for a cart build video. The build will run about $800-$1000. It will take a full day to build while also doing a video.
@@PDMokry I hear ya man! Can't wait till that happens because your solution has been the best I've seen.
Really nice! Clean and simple, if a bit cramped at times.
Thank you! Simple is the way!
This is awesome! What a cool way to create a faster workflow. Defiantly using this when I get more lights!
Glad you like it! It is a game changer!
I like these video's! Can you make one about your production cart?
Thank you for the support! I plan on doing a full cart build video! When I get some time off this Holiday Season.
I think it's a great video! There's also a trick for fitting the Nova 300 into an "envious" Eurobox. The dimensions are then only 60 x 40 x 22 cm, which is of course much smaller than the huge plastic cases from Aputure.
Now you have me searching for Euroboxes! Thanks for getting me into another rabbit hole!
You are very welcome! :D@@PDMokry
Cool video! I love using crates. I haven't thought of adding foam to my regular crates. Need to give it a try.
I recently purchased some from Sidio. They are a bit pricey but give me soooo much variability and ways to keep things organized within the crates. They have see-through lids, so no guessing games. Thanks again for sharing.
Thank you! The Sidio crates are slick for sure! But I can be cheap at times. So $16 a crate and $4 in foam is just the right price!
How many Sidio crates do you have in tour kit?
Looks and feels slick!
Thank you!
200% my kind of nerdiness, I'm off to Amazon! I store my lights the same way in crates, but not with that super padding you're doing, will change that though :-)
Thanks for the upload
I will keep the madness coming! Look forward to an update on your buildouts!
Milkcrates are great for G&E but I've kept my 600D's in their original cases since they take up less shelf space that way.
These have save me so much space.
great video! blessings!
Thank you!
cool idea If you not traveling with them
Travel is a whole different setup for me. But I usually rent local to save the stress.
What do you do with the reflector dishes? I am assuming you stack them and the travel like that?
Great question! I have one crate full off just reflectors. They are so bulky to add just one to a case.
part of me feels like i need it enclosed fully, for dust and what not. There is a comapny that makescustom fitted bags for amaran products that come with the styrofoam. They might make more types
The Pro series from Aputure are weather resistant. A bit of dust and humidity should be safe. We pull all our lights off the van after each shot and store them in a climate controlled warehouse.
The crate system is not a fit for everybody, but it has been amazing for me!
@@PDMokry respect. I have a few for grip hardware and stuff but never thought about that. Good stuff
Where do you get your foam for the crates?
I picked it up from a local junker on facebook marketplace.
Thanks for the detailed hack! This is COOL!
Thank you for watching!
I’m located in Dallas and would love to collaborate or trade some work out. I sent you a message on IG
Hello! Feel free to connect via email, I miss a lot of message that get lost in our spam or request folders.
@@PDMokry absolutely, completely understand
Sick workflow hack! Of course the crates are $170 each here in Australia.. 😤
Thank you! Ouch, that is crazy!
