    Good that the recall wasn't from your previous work. Only trouble is getting the customer to believe it. Thanks for your vids, best diagnostic ones out there. Always an education.

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  6 лет назад

      Its the ultimate here. The bigger microns were rebadged ultimates but I think they all had 2 fuses. Its been a while...

    well diagnosed, always a nice feeling when you get back to the job and it’s something totally separate to what you done when you were there. Times iv gone back to a job thinking what I have I done here then ? Then it’s something else more often than not.

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  6 лет назад

      Thats very true. This is my first recall in a very long time and i'm glad it was something different.

      HeatingGeek I had one not long ago on a ecomax pro 18, turned power off dropped the board out. Hate turning them off. Came back on and checked operation before leaving. Customer phoned me back next day saying no heat or hot water absolutely hate them boilers and refilling and venting is an absolute pain !

    • @HeatingGeek

      Thats a Glowworm Hxi with worse electrics. The connectors need wiggling a lot to clear weird issues. I missed one of you comments and I can find it now. I don't get how this stuff works sometimes.
      Give me a boiler any day of the week!!

      HeatingGeek Lol I agree ! I’m useless with technology don’t use Facebook either #confused.com think I’d lob my phone by the time worked out how to use it . I’m only in my 20s lol must be me ? god knows but I’d rather watch your videos !
      Today I replaced a main heat exchanger on a 15ri far from easy return pipe was absolutely wedged in underneath never found them that bad before oh and sump was different on the new cell so the condense trap wouldn’t fit I was livid ! If I done videos I’d need a swear jug 😂

    Supposing this stat was an obsolete part would you have fitted a pipe stat to the flow directly above the boiler and wired it to run the pump at all times the water was above a set temp or would you have had to get the original stat repaired if it’s possible? Or even a new boiler?

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  5 лет назад +1

      I would get the other newer (2 wire) version of the stat with the 2 fuse PCB and convert the boiler to the later version.

    Get some GS38 compliant probes!

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  6 лет назад

      What are they?? Explain the difference if you could.
      The probes I use are Fluke and fused as far as I know.
      Thanks for your input. I do appreciate expert advise. ;-)

    Loving your videos. Always a pleasure to watch them. Recalls will always happen but ,it's really annoying when it's a completely different fault to the one you have sorted. Are you ex BG ?.

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  6 лет назад

      I worked for BG as a contractor for a little while. Why do you ask. What gives it away?

    If the pump constantly runs without the boiler firing I’d say boiler stat

    • @HeatingGeek
      @HeatingGeek  4 года назад

      I can't remember this video if I'm honest. The ultimate had 2 ways to control the pump. 1 was the boiler/pump overrun stat. The other was the PCB depending on what model year it was. I'm annoyed that I can't remember this job...
