    Your video proved incredibly useful! I applied Permatex Ultra Black Gasket Maker, creating a tick rubber seal around the loose leakage spot. Held it for 30 minutes until it dried and hardened. No leaks since then!

    Thanks buddy, this was helpful. I just put the gasket maker. I am pretty sure it will fix my issue as well.

      @qaisnas4898 I’m glad it helped! It was for sure where my leak was and after applying gasket seal it has not leaked since!! It’s a relief for sure😎

    Wow thanks so much. I’ve had this problem for years to the point that the truck is rusted and the carpet stinks with mold. Have to cut all that carpet out and refinish the well. Much appreciated.

    My 08 leaked there as well. Never wanted to park it in the rain. Took a long time to figure it out. Easy fix though when actually diagnosed. I would get in the bac when raining to try to find the leak.

      @klujics123 That’s for sure! The easy part is applying the gasket seal the hard part is finding the leak.

    So helpful thank you! The internet is full of Sienna owners (of all years, old and new!) with leaky trunks. Not sure why Toyota can’t do better with this.
    I used my upholstery cleaner and vacuumed out 2.5 gallons of water from our trunk today!

    I have the exact same issue in the exact same spot. Can you shoot a video of the fix?

    • @normanzellers
      @normanzellers  2 месяца назад +1

      @TheSchwiz I’m sorry but I didn’t shoot a video of the fix process.
      All you have to do is apply a line of gasket seal of your choice around the base of the gasket. Similar to applying caulking. You can smooth it out with your finger . I let it dry overnight and since have not had a leak. The hardest part is reaching behind and getting it to look smooth (I used a clear seal so as not to see the uneven layer of sealant😉).
      Good luck with yours!

      @@normanzellers thanks.. i noticed there is a plastic grommet of some kind surrounding the wires under the rubber hose. Did you put sealant on that? Or just the rubber outer part?

    • @normanzellers
      @normanzellers  2 месяца назад +1

      @TheSchwiz you just put it on the outside. Once it dries, it will block the water👍

    • @normanzellers
      @normanzellers  Месяц назад +1

      @omarkhshi3442 thanks. I did not have to replace the rubber. Mine was in decent shape. The seal I used was a gasket seal. I believe it was Permatex Gasket Sealer. Hope this helps!

    I think k have this. Thanks! BTW do you think that the moon roof also has back drain holes that nobody can get to? That's what I've been blaming all this time. I have some flex seal liquid rubber sealant coating Max you think that will work?

    • @normanzellers
      @normanzellers  Год назад +1

      Sallyhourt13123, The moon roof may be a possibility, but I would think there would also be some pooling of water in those tracks similar to a clogged gas drain hole or the Sienna side door trac plug.
      When I talked to the dealership they mentioned the top roof rack tracking as a culprit.
      I don’t see why the Flex Seal wouldn’t work but I can tell you that the gasket silicone sealant is definitely working. It was under $10 so you may consider using that to be sure👍. Good luck and I’m glad the video helped! Let me know how it goes.

      @@normanzellers thanks for answering, I was so sure this was it I went ahead and bought the gasket sealer. However when opening to the gasket, I don't see any proof that it's leaking there. Hmmm. Does have dirt around the gasket, but I don't see any evidence there's been any water leaked onto the plastic tray that covers it.
      I have actually seen drips come from that area, so I'll go ahead and clean it anyway and put the gasket seal on it

    Norman did the sealant help? We just found the same issue.

    • @normanzellers
      @normanzellers  Год назад +1

      Tired as a mother, I’m glad you asked, I’ve been meaning to make a post on that. It worked great. I got some Permatex clear gasket sealant (you could also use any other sealant, like one from harbor freight) and put a small amount around the seal itself and a larger amount on the frame of the vehicle at the base of the sealant. Then I pushed the two together and used my finger to smooth it out. Let it cure/bond as directed on package and then you should be good-to-go! We’ve been through a few hard storms (including some while traveling far on the highway) and the trunk floor has been bone dry, thank the Lord.
      Let me know if you need any other information and good luck! I’m glad this helped you…it was frustrating having to dry and let the trunk carpet air out every rainfall to prevent mold and mildew!
      PS: I did clean the plastic panel piece with some bleach and then Lysol disinfectant spray to be safe😁

    Dang it, thanks, I bet this is my problem.

    • @normanzellers
      @normanzellers  Год назад

      Larry, it surely could be…it was elusive for some time and multiple tries at plugging and coating the rubber plugs with flex seal and such wasn’t helpful. When I found this needle in the haystack I wanted to make the video because of the pain it caused me!! If it is the problem, just put some gasket seal on the area and let cure for the recommended time on the tube of sealant. It worked great for me now after multiple heavy rainstorms for proof😎
