- Today Architectural Digest is welcomed to the New York home of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his Tony Award-winning husband Justin Mikita. Decorated with sculptures that Justin has bestowed honorary celebrity names upon (like Tilda Swinton the papier-mâché giraffe,) the apartment feels fun, bright, and unmistakably theirs. The couple made a point of investing in and designing custom cabinets and storage solutions, wringing every inch of space out of their Manhattan digs. As a result, the living space feels sleek and comfortable while providing plenty of space for tucking away pots and pans or say, displaying awards. Did we mention that Justin has a Tony Award? I like the recurring Tony!---I had no idea that a rooster in the kitchen meant good luck. I grew up in a family home built in the 1920's and before the kitchen was updated when I was growing up in the 1960's there was a big, black wooden silhouette of a rooster on one of the walls. I think there were also some rooster figurines on the windowsill over the sink. Now I'm understanding why there was all that poultry in the kitchen!
Andrew Brendan I didn’t know that either and remember my grandparents having a rooster ornament in the kitchen (and my Gran was not an ornament lady). I wonder if she knew they were good luck or it’s a coincidence. 🤷🏻♀️💕

I actually think that's really smart when buying a new place, the first thing they bought was something fun and not utilitarian or practical... that really sets the mood to be open and come up with ideas for what you want the place to feel like. I really like this as an idea.

I’m so confused about private elevators . My brain can’t comprehend the logistics and privacy/safety.
You need either a special keyfob to push the correct button, or the concierge has to call the floor for you. Places like these usually have 24/7 security.

love this home - you can really see their personalities and taste transpire, it's original, subtle, but with a lot of character. I totally agree that you have to create drama in small spaces.
The idea that celebrities with fancy apartments have the same concerns about storage as I do makes me feel so much better about my quirky custom shelving and multifunctional furniture. I'm looking at you dresser/entertainment center/ dining room table!

After watching their LA house tour, of course their NYC apt is also beautiful. Love that there’s so much personality (timothée chalamet?? 😂) and the space is neither masculine or feminine-it’s very neutral. They have great taste.
I hope AD wrote them a letter, called their assistants and managers, e-mailed , texted, sent a Raven, broadcasted it on whatever channels they watch, did the same to their parents and neighbours
