I live in Ottawa. Since we're so close to Quebec (Gatineau), we have access to their plans. I recently switched from Koodo ($40 for 12GB) to Virgin ($39 for 20GB)
I can relate to Koodo's pick your perk plan as a restaurant that offers you a free side. With those pick your perk plans, you can add a little something, add a lot of something, or go with what you have.
I live in Alaska. Can I purchase any of these Canadian plans so I have a cell phone that works when I travel in the Yukon, Alberta, British Columbia? I tried Telus but when checkout they only allow Canadian addresses.
If you've got a buddy in Canada, hit them up about using their address. Just be sure to check the fine print to know where you're allowed to use most of the data - turns out some plans have rules where you gotta keep it 50%+ within Canadian borders.
Retired and on fixed income, monthly data usage less than a 1000 MB. My current plan is with Bell 25GB (waste of data + money, rate is 67+ tax). Thinking about to Virgin mobile 10GB for $34 + tax because is run by Bell. I read Virgin's customer service is bad - any comment?
One of important thing between Flanker Brands: Koodo, Virgin Mobile, and Fido is they don't support 5G, I think this is very important in 2023. thanks for your info.
Maybe flankers will consider adding 5G. You may have seen in iOS 16.4, or on the latest Google Pixel phones, that they added new 5G options recently. After i ran a software update on my iPhone, i saw new 5G options in my cellular settings
I just signed up with the 85$ a month bell plan you show here but it has been upgraded, it’s 25 gigabytes of 5 g data and unlimited LTE also unlimited call & talk inside Canada. But they have a PROMO on right now that is 10$ off every month for 24 months so the plan effectively will cost me 75$ a month for the contract term, decent deal I’d say.
@@Truthist23 just go into a bell store and show them the promotional code they have on their website, I did this when I first posted this comment roughly 4 months ago so idk if the same deal is still on but you can just go into the store and do it there.
Definitely signing up for your newsletter. Thanks to your informative videos and being a long time Shaw customer with low data requirements I have enjoyed good Shaw cell phone service (free) with 1 GB of data for 90 days for a total average monthly cost of $3.34 for the last year and a half. Of course to qualify for that you have to be a Shaw home internet account holder. Thanks again for your informative videos. Cheers.
@@TechnologyPaul It has happened, with Rogers entering the picture my monthly bill excluding data is $9.71 which started in June of 2023. Still a good value. Looking forward to your next best plans video.
Interesting to see what options our neighbors up North has, I think I’m good with my US unlimited data plan which includes Mexico and Canada coverage. $80 AT&T Business Unlimited Premium, unlimited high speed data, 200GB hotspot data unlimited talk text and data in Mexico & Canada.
Great overview Paul! Extremely insightful! One thing that isn't mentioned is savings from bundling with Shaw Home Internet. My wife and I changed to Shaw two years ago and changed our home internet to Shaw as well. We pay $125 for Fibre+gig and pay $25 per phone for their 25gig plan. NOTE: The mobile plans have since changed to $40 if you have Fibre+Gig and $25 for Fibre+Gig1.5. Now that we have our tabs cleared, it's basically $175 for two phones and home internet. The internet is more expensive than Telus (90), but the equivalent Telus mobile plans are $77.50 (discount for 2 plans). Telus also offers $10 for bundling with mobile. But it still ends up being $235 to be equivalent. (even if you factor in the new change to $40 per line, it's still $30 cheaper!). I also don't mind paying more for internet because I can expense it through work. If you have reliable Shaw home service in your area, and like you said, stick to the major cities for mobile, Shaw feels like it can't be beat when you factor in everything. You even get 2 years of Disney+ when you hop on their internet ($240 value). Do you know if any other providers bundle the way Shaw does?

Just so you know, Koodo, Fido, and Virgin have a promo plan of 39 dollars for 20gb of data.
You forgot to mention network coverage like
Call quality, reception, drop etc
Specially like basements and subways..
True. That can change the picture quite a bit. Which network has the best coverage an quality based on your estimation?
Signed up for newsletter, but no spreadsheet!
@Technology Paul Will you be doing an updated version of this?
I am currently with Freedom mobile I pay $40 and I get unlimited Canada wide
talk unlimited global texting and 50 GB of data.
Gonna switch to this tbh

Which services provider will not charge if one needs to discontinue the services. I heard and saw lot of comments about the loot o rogers.
I just got a plan from Fido 60 gigs data plus 15 bonus gigs data for 44.80 I was on Virgin Payne 70.00 a month for 30 gigs of data

Unless you need 5g go with Virgin or Koodo for 39 a month for 20gb. Everything else is the same. Virgin uses bell and Koodo uses Telus 😊
How did you sign up? Unlimited LTE?

i'm new to vancouver, an international student. The phone plans here are CRAZY expensive. Makes me miss home
Hmm wondering if you can offer any advice on home internet packages in Ontario?
just went from Bell 3Gig for $40. to Koodo 10 Gig for $40. , I was wondering if this is a good move ?
It says your account has been canceled. Not accepting new email addresses...
You forgot Vidéotron.
The lowest I can get with telus here in nova scotia is 90 a month I'm going back to prepaid 200 for the year
Any idea which company is better in the Niagara Falls region?

No, for the big 3.
Is the bell 25GB data for 85$ is unlimited? after you used up the 25gb
Virgin plus black friday had $50 for 50gb... prices are getting better

Thanks Rolland! That $0 plan is such a great deal. Hold onto it because they are bound to stop offering it at some point.
