I am precisely on a night train going like an arrow through a sleepy countryside somewhere in Belgium. I watch the lights of unknown villages flash by and I'm listening to this. The most adequate soundtrack for this precise moment. I understand what you ment by creating such a track. Because I am experiencing the mood of the track right on the field. Thanks for the bliss and the instants of pure contemplation, Alastair.
Bought my first mother 32, DFAM, and am eventide h9 this week. I wasn’t sure for a while - but these sounds sold me on the sound. Nothing like a Moog oscillator And eventide reverb.
I recently found your channel and I think it's fantastic that you provide so much information on the patches and how to duplicate them. As a new Mother 32 owner I want to thank you for helping me understand how to use it more than any other resource has.
My pleasure! If you have any specific questions I'm happy to answer them too, I like to help. There's a link to my new Facebook page in the description if you want to see more stuff like patches in the making etc (it's a bit bare at the moment but I'll fill it up).
I had to give it the silly test. Played it in 2 windows about a minute apart with 1 on half volume. It works for me! I am now cooking evening meal with it on.
I found with some very relaxed ambient music you can play several copies of it at once and it adds to it and it was great ..I went as far as having 3 copies playing back at once with different volumes and it was excellent...to my ears anyway
This one of a handful of live Modular sets I can listen to daily ;) and I don't say that very much. And at only 2 pieces of gear(2 pedals) I only wish I made these purchases(instead of my TB-03, Reface DX and VP-03... I'd still keep my R3, and OB-6 though.) before my wife had the urge to kill my ass!
I had a Reface DX for a few months and it sounded wonderful, I wouldn't regret getting that! And I wouldn't blame your wife for wanting to kill you if you sold an OB-6 ;) I think you would love having an Eventide Space if you like the sounds I'm making, because the DFAM is literally just 2 square waves which are low pass filtered - all the magic comes from the Space!
Alastair Wilson let me re-phrase that my Korg R3 and OB-6 are my favourite synths on my desk.. I see how current synths are headed in the right direction. :)
As soon as I hit 1000 subs (not long now), I'll make my bandcamp active. I'm currently uploading all my tracks there. Then people can support me or just download for free!
Trololo - Not sure what you mean by plucking? I appreciate that you'll pay for the tracks, I promise all the money will go towards making better videos :)
Haha well thanks ;) Nanotech is one of my favourites, I think it's my best ambience by far. Glad someone else likes it too! I decided to put the tracks up individually because then it's easy for me to upload new ones, and also I expect most people will want to download 1 particular track. If you want to pay for them but don't want to go through the payment process every time, perhaps just buy one for the same price that you'd pay total, and then download the rest for free?
It's a great piece of gear, but I'm often finding myself fighting its limitations rather than working around them, if that makes sense. For example, with the M32 if I can't do something then I can usually find a creative workaround using the Assign output and the VC Mix section, but with the DFAM I just get... stuck. I think the main problem is that on the DFAM, every feature directly affects the sound. There are no utilities or anything which you can play with while leaving the actual signal path untouched. The M32 has the VC Mix section, the free-running LFO, and the Assign output - all of which have to be patched to actually do anything. That gives you lots of room for creativity. There's none of that on the DFAM, and so for my music I find it practically unusable without help from the M32 or other modules. Having said that, I'm keeping it for the time being; it's an expensive synth for me to unsure about but my recent videos with it have turned out well, and I'll use it at least for a while longer until I can't find anything new to get out of it.
But with some other modular signals you can get beyond the tweaking does too much to the sound part ? I'm in between buying one and it seems really limited. But since i have 208hp of modules i think it would play well with it Love how you pinpointed how it's different to use the limitation or fight them
You can do a lot more when you use it with other modules (as always with modular!); if you have 208hp and need some heavy drums then it would definitely be a synth to consider. I wish there were more patch points (filter resonance input, inputs for how much the envelopes affect the oscillators' pitches etc...) but its usable. I like to have EVERY parameter voltage controlled, but that's just personal preference.

I guess it's kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Eric Luis i watch on Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
@Eric Luis I use Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)

Ohh. I especially love this one, so good.
at minute 22 I was like "I don't want this to end" and then I checked the timeline and was like "yessssssss"

I don't have any specific questions, but I'd love to see more videos showing what you can do using just one Mother 32 and some effects.
Currently I'm working my way through the DFAM's capabilities but I'll bear that in mind :)
This is so clever and well-done. Thanks for sharing.
Ich habe so gesucht ...... jetzt hab ich endlich Antworten..... DAAAAANNNKKKEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds absolutely fantastic! Thanks for sharing!👍
So good!

Never heard of this before, what's the reason for it?
I found with some very relaxed ambient music you can play several copies of it at once and it adds to it and it was great ..I went as far as having 3 copies playing back at once with different volumes and it was excellent...to my ears anyway
Haven't thought about doing that before, but I'm going to start - always up for experimenting! Cheers for the idea :)
Very nice ambient tune....enjoyed it very much
really good patch
I love this one
thx for sharing the patch, what a beautiful music you made here!
Haunting choo-choos. Count me subscribed.
very nice
This is why we synth.
I love what you do with these things. Makes me want to throw all of my money away on gear. My Mrs is not too enthusiastic.
Ha! I know what you mean, saving is not my strong point. My apologies to the mrs ;)
I agree,
Believe me I'm dead if I try one more time(-1..., actually) 0
but the word is INVEST not "throw all my money away" ;)
Yes, I have recently come to that conclusion and I feel much better :)
You can always get another Mrs.
Soooooooo gooooooood! Thank you
Loved it played it through 3 times then remembered to "like and subscribe"
I can drift off to this Alastair :-)
this is the spice
9 subs to 1k congrats 🎊🎉🍾
First big milestone!
Nice...very nice...

Perfect :-D
Are your songs going to be available to purchase through any of the online platforms?

Almost there!!!
Bandcamp is up now!

Moods from the Moog😑
How are you finding the DFAM now that you've had more time with it?

Ya the DFAM is like a whip, every jerk effecting the whole chain! I have enjoyed all your vids so far. Congratulations on the 1k, Alistair!
Yeah that's the short way of putting it! ;) I'd love the thing if I did more live performances I think.
Thanks Mr Basic!
