The depression claim is a smokescreen - he’s been caught out and his life is ruined so of course he’s a bit fed-up!

      Its certainly not !!!!!!!!!!!
Huw Edwards has been suffering from acute depression for a considerable time.
There was an interview he gave in Welsh, in the South Wales newspaper, "The Western Mail" back in 2017, stating that at times, he was so depressed that he was unable to get out of bed, and was in floods of tears, acute depression is not a nice illness, but thousands suffer in silence here in the Uk.
He has been suffering from acute depression for many years, so to say its a smokescreen is very unfair.
It does not take away the fact, that he has been caught behaving in an inappropriate manner.
He no doubt will have to answer for his conduct in the future, when he is in a fit state to do so,

He's struggled with depression for years, long before any of this happened. This is a well known fact. Also, if you read the statement again, you'll see that it never uses mental health as an excuse for his alleged behaviour or even implies it so this is also incorrect. Truth is, we simply don't know the full story yet, the investigation is ongoing and Huw is currently in no position to give his account of things so it's unfair to judge

I personally think Huw Edwards is using the Mental Health excuse as a Get Out Of Fail Card.
Depressed or not , Huw Edwards was a seriously powerful influencer who went behind his wife and offspring's back seeking out youngsters for the purpose of satisfying his sexual proclivity. It might not be illegal but it is undesirable . And it offends to think that such a person was put in pole position as a presenter of decorous events. Huw Edwards is no better than a dirty old man in a raincoat. , or a kerb crawler. He knew exactly what he was doing. He wasn't suffering from the brain fog of a depressant.

A private hospital is like a luxury hotel without locks on the bedroom doors. All have en-suites. Meals are first class. Most have health facilities including swimming pools. There are security guards patrolling the perimeter. There are swipe cards or keypads for entry into the main buildings. Unless someone has been sectioned patients can roam. Particularly at night between rooms. Most will have been given some drugs for depression or as alcohol alternatives. Most will be a little high. Check out private hospitals like The Priory. Imagine if I an ordinary woman waltzed down to the shop in my little village with my bum exposed, all the neighbors would treat me with the respect we all share , when I emerge in my full garb next morning, Ye Right, I don't think so , the phones would be ringing and the men in white coats on their way , I would have to sell up and shift my bare butt out of town pronto .Huw Boy could always go live with Andy Pandy in that big house he doesn't want to leave.

What offends me more than this, a boy 17? £35k is the girls who were raped and groomed, and allegedly still going on. But meanwhile some celeb of a presenter, who I have never watched gets raked over by the media, as was Prince Andrew. What they did was 'not desirable' but it wasn't illegal either. Spare time and effort for those truly hurt by predatory sexual behaviours.

The BBC have a high-handed attitude perhaps?
If you have a company with thousands of people some of whom could be open to attempted blackmail, surely you would have something to look into it rapidly and avoid further/future distress or scandal. H.E has a direct complaint made about him and yet they didn't tell him or the boss? Even if it were a false claim or a go at blackmail/sting would you not want answers, some confirmation?

The focus should primarily be on the victims and the mental health issues created by the perpetrator's behaviour - when victims are violated, betrayed, abused, or taken advantage of, the consequences on their mental health can be devastating. They often face a range of emotional and psychological challenges that can last a lifetime. Traumatic experiences like these can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders, depression, trust issues, self-esteem problems, and even substance abuse.
It is crucial not to overlook the lasting impact on the lives of the victims. While it is understandable that the perpetrator's family may also suffer, it is essential to prioritize the needs of the survivors and provide them with the support and resources necessary for their healing and recovery.
