    Dr. Jason Fung says that snacking is a marketing ploy by Big Food. I'm 51 and when I was a kid, we didn't snack. We had three meals a day and occasionally had a treat (my favorite was Chips Ahoy! cookies). Having a snack before a meal was strongly frowned upon because we were told "you'll ruin your dinner." Parents, if you are concerned about your kids not eating their dinner, stop giving them mid-morning snacks and after-school snacks. Your kids won't starve if you are feeding them a proper amount of natural fat in their diet to hold them over. Also, Pop-Tarts and Toaster Strudels are not breakfast; they are cookies disguised as breakfast and the actual cause of your kid needing a mid-morning snack and an inability to concentrate. Feed them eggs and bacon and maybe a slice of buttered toast. They don't need to eat and drink stuff in your car. They're not going to die. I promise.

    Hey there - I have that exact same t-shirt from the Terrain Race last summer! So cool to see you with yours! I've lost 123 pounds and at 51 I've now done 3-5k races and 2 mud runs. I no longer have high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, or sleep apnea. I've suffered from chronic pain relating to my degenerative disk disease (3 neck surgeries) and was bedridden for years which led to very bad depression. I am happy to have my life back!

    Thank you. Thank you so much for being so real and giving such a realistic outlook to weight loss. I have struggled with weight my whole life and I feel like every one is giving “quick fixes” that never work or I am given advice that seems so impossible. Like “oh it’s easy, just cut out all carbs, only eat 1000 calories a day and work out for an hour every day.” But thank you for giving practical lifestyle changes and presenting it so judgement free. I love you videos and wanna be like you when I grow up! Lol (I’m 26 still waiting on the growing up to happen!)

    Advice from a 61 year old woman. Lose the weight when you are YOUNG, as you know, as you age, metabolism goes down, you lose muscle, then MENAPAUSE. this combination will cause you to barely eat and you must eat healthy. Due to medical issues, I can only walk and swim, nothing else. But it is VERY hard.

      you are correct...I am 60 and almost died from covid 18 mths ago...just now getting my life back...then injured my foot. Sheesh. Anywho, I am lifting light weights and staying consistent...I can only do 20 min of walking in place per dau (I started out at 5 min every other day)...I have a foot-nerve injury...anywho...I do what I can and try to consistent about keeping my sugar/carb foods out of my diet...for the most part. I had to stop making excuses. It is difficult...but overeating and not doing any kind of exercise is a recipe for early death. Wish you well...keep moving as much as ya can

      It's DILUTED flavored water, meaning the flavoring, in this instance, is weakened. "Deluded" means "deceived by false beliefs," and I doubt that that is what you meant 🙂.

    Absolutely love your channel! As a fellow “retired” athlete I can definitely relate to the learning curve that comes with not having workout programs/practices to go to. I played softball in college and after I retired I gained A LOT of weight because I didn’t adjust my nutrition/eating habits to match my decreased activity level. It was a lot of work to get back to where I was but I learned a lot about nutrition so that was good :) keep up the awesome videos!

    I just found this video on your channel and I love "Don't eat stupid!" I recently turned 50 and haven't been to the gym in over a year due to some severe plantar fasciitis and am at my heaviest weight ever....I love your ideas and plan on incorporating some of them!     Great video and story. I was always super skinny until 40. I then finally gained enough to wear a size 6 work suit. At 50 it all went down hill LOL. I had a hysterectomy and shortly after stage 4 breast cancer. So sick since doing strong chemo every two weeks instead of 3 (worked in administration the entire time with Mondays off - wanted my pension so kept going). I hit the wall at 150 then 180 YIKES! I was naturally skinny and could eat anything I wanted until then. Joined a gym and worked out after work probably 3 or 4 days a week and finally lost weight along with watching what I ate. Now - I try to keep it real at around 150 (I'm 65 years old) and eat better. I also had an aortic valve replaced a few years back so that REALLY made me watch my diet and try to at least walk a lot more. Anyway, I may be handicapped due to lung power but am doing really well. My afternoon snack now is coffee with vanilla stevia and half and half - cold or hot - need an afternoon pick me up. Now I watch YOU work out 😀. Cute hair. Have a wonderful week. I know...tmi

    Big time YAS on watered down drinks! Mio, crystal light, wylers whatever i cut em all in half. My goal is hydration but plain water is so boring. And yes, cut up sandwiches taste better. No truer words!

    I love the "don't eat stupid" advice. I'm doing my first Whole30 just to give my body a reset and retrain my body to eat real food. I am at my heaviest non-pregnant weight ever and I'm almost 2 years postpartum so there's really no excuse now. I definitely had been eating stupid before! I really do believe the majority of weight loss comes from the kitchen. Exercise just helps tone whatcha got. Thank you for sharing about your weight loss journey. You're about an inch taller than me so you're a good gauge of where I could be (although I know our body composition is different). Happy New Year!

      @@Pickles375 it's not meant to be a weight loss diet but it is a great reset for healthier eating habits. I've enjoyed it so far (I'm on day 24) but I'm ready to be done and move into more intuitive eating

      Whole30 is an elimination diet to identify food sensitivities, not a weight loss diet or a body cleanse. You should consult your doctor beforehand because you can quickly run into nutrient deficiencies. It takes closer to 3 months total to expose yourself to each potential trigger food one by one.

    I lost about 40lbs on keto without exercise, but for me it just wasn't sustainable to watch my carbs to that extent. It wasn't so much the junk that I missed, but the fruits and veggies that were considered to have "too much carbs." Even though I looked healthier, it didn't really feel healthy for my body or mind. I gained the 40lbs back. I'm not going to lie, I've been wanting to watch this video for awhile now and I'm glad that I did. I love how you simply said "don't eat stupid" as well as the advice to just move your body everyday. I think I make weightloss scarier and harder in my head than it has to be.

    It's being super active. That's the only time I've ever dropped weight. And I've done it several times. Would swim if I had my own pool, loved it as a kid. But always walking in my case--walking to class, walking to work, walking to breakfast/coffee, walking for an hour with no real goal other than to keep moving lol. I prefer having a destination. I've tried stationary/indoor machines and they're not my thing. Not even OMAD drops weight for me if I'm home all day. I have to move. My metabolism is junk lol.

    I gained weight in college too! 20 pounds! I blamed the lack of a scale and a full length mirror. I grew up on a farm, worked in a restaurant, and played sports. Then went to college in the frozen tundra where my activity dropped

    Thanks for sharing. You are so thin and fit I wondered if you had ever had a weight issue. I am constantly yoyoing with my weight. I can get to a healthy weight but haven't been able to consistently maintain it.

    I’ve healed from 11 pregnancies. I’m your same size. You’re totally right.
    I homeschool 7 children, I gain weight when breastfeeding then afterwards I still lose the weight. You can, too!
    Don’t snack, cook your meals and make sure your doctor checks your hormones.

    It is great to see all you have achieved. I was a runner throughout high school and college. I did the gym, but I never lost the weight until I tried intermittent fasting. Now I can eat some of everything as long as I eat it in an 8-hr window. Then I don't eat for 16 hours. It sounds brutal, but your body adjusts. Thanks for sharing your journey! ❤

    I just found your videos today and subscribed. You are so much fun to watch. I remember when I was able to walk or run 4 or 5 miles per day but I can't do anything anymore because I have something called Lisfranck in my right foot (nerve damage, arthritis and swelling from overuse).

      FitB4IGetOld I was diagnosed with a LisFranc ligament injury in Dec 2018 also. I was referred to a podiatrist who instead said it was Charcot. I had the same issues as you, nerve damage, arthritis and swelling. Treatment has been a bone stimulator (I had disintegration of the bones around the LisFranc ligament) and staying off of it for the past year. It takes a long time and it is been tough to jot even go for a walk around the lake, but better than surgery. Hope yours heals up also!

    Papadeaux is the best restaurant in the world!!! In my world at least. I moved to Colorado last year and DOG, I miss the food in Texas. Ponchatrain (sp?) is my go to meal for any and all celebrations.

    I only recently started watching this channel. Sometimes she inspires me and sometimes she makes me feel like I suck. She's great with money, with food, with exercise, with parenting, etc. But getting up at 5 am exercise made me realize she is just one of those people with limitless energy and probably ADHD or something like that. She's definitely got an athlete's body and brain. You win! You win! Not necessarily bad but her brain works differently and I could never do what she does. I still like her though, lol. And she does a RUclips channel! Geez, lady, take a nap. All love.

    I don’t sleep well and I got a Fitbit to track my sleep and I now track my steps , I am in healthcare and the days I work I will do 10,000 steps in my first 1/2 of my shift . I am 52 and am slowly losing the weight I need to lose , I would like to lose 30 plus .

    Omg your eyes are so big and beautiful!!! As you get older (like me), you will find that eyeliner UNDER the eyes are a “no.” It’s all about looking “lifted,” and eyeliner under makes eyes look droopy. Now I barely put a little bit of mascara under... I been getting so many compliments since I adjusted in to “mid lifer makeup,” routine. You are still young, but try it out when u start to feel like your eyes are getting more saggy or hooded. I wish I had those big eyes to work with! Gorgeous!

    Oh I see now, I have no issues with rising early but the gyms are closed here. I do walk every morning for about 30 min.
    But I'm still way over what I should be. Back in the day I was athletic too.

    Listening to your talk about favorite snacks in college and became 😱 because my recent obsession snack has been tortilla chips dipped in queso. I gotta stop eating it. My meals have been almost non existent recently so that’s my excuse but yeah I think I’ll make eggs with a veggie tomorrow inspired by you 😆

    It’s so funny, fruit has never stopped tasting yummy. But I swear all the boxed and bagged junk tasted sooo much better when I was a kid. I could barely decipher the flavor of a canned frosting last time I bought it. Made dropping it very easy lol.

    I have been struggling with my weight for years. I am only 5 foot so i am over weight and have been trying to lose weight but its hard. I dont eat alot of vegetables and i dont like alot of vegetables. I am very active and try to get 12,000 steps everyday doesnt always happene. Would love to see more videos on nutrition and weight loss.

    I’m glad I found this video ❤️ How did you manage to continue your healthy habits (exercising mostly) when you had four children? I find it SO hard to find time to exercise. I either have to wake SUPER early or go to sleep SUPER late. I too have four kids ages from 1-8

    Do you know there’s a really great tips. And add to it like if your appetites just super super ferocious then woke up on freaking salad I had some of the good stuff and it’s still gonna be way less calories than if you ate Taco Bell. I’m no skinny mini by any means but I’ve pretty much maintain my high school weight just by doing those types of things plus replacing this weeks with fruit I always have frozen fruit in the freezer.

      I believe it comes with several flavors of protein powder, a detox tea, blender bottle, and flavored lemonade.

    You aren't totally lame. I've always preferred to use water for my protein shakes. For some reason, it just tastes better to me.

    Loosing weight is tough for me sadly, I don’t eat a lot of “junk” I try to fix healthy balanced meals for my family, as my kids like to say “you don’t buy food, you buy ingredients” 😂. I know I need to move and exercise more, but exercise is tough with a fused ankle and needing low impact exercises to prevent pain in my fused ankle.

      Try downloading a free chronometer app. My key to being in control of my weight, is getting the nutrients my body needs. At first I was so shocked at how little, fibre, iron, calcium & overall protein, now I meet the targets and never hungry. I find I put on weight when I eat food without nutritional value. The app. Also doesn't require exercise to lose weight. Good luck.

    I'm trying to get of drinking diet soda I'm down to one a day but what I miss most is the carbonation. thankfully I enjoy what plain more than flavored. How do you get $50 the hotel I clicked the link but when I went to book it didn't come off?

    Just started watching your channel. You said in one video you were allergic to banana's.
    Most people who are allergic to banana's are also allergic to avocado's. I am and very seriously.
    My doctor told me they are from the same group.

      Maybe you have a allergies to the latex in them. I am allergic to latex so I was told to watch out for any reactions after eating them by my allergist.

      Cherokee yes! Used to react to bandages, fast forward years later totally allergic to bananas...year later avocados and the list goes on and on 😕

      Yup. English walnuts too. I so far haven't seen any reactions but have to keep an eye out. It's hard because they are so common. But on the bright side we have a good reason to try new stuff.

    I drink a gallon of water a day. I had to stop using drink additives because I went overboard and developed terrible side effects from the sweeteners. Can you enable your link to 310? Right now I can’t click on it. Thanks.

      Rebekah Snyder I tried True Lemon. I really love it especially the Black Cherry. If I could use just one a day I’d probably be Ok but I was using about 4 or 5 a day and the citric acid bothered me. If I could do moderation, I’d be much better. 😀

      I can’t help but think those additives and coloring, flavor chemicals hurt the body in the long run >.< and companies are not obligated to list all the chemicals on the label.

      I am a big fan of the true lime and crystal light pure, which is all natural coloring and stevia as the sweetener!

    Sorry cause I know this video is from January but how did you deal with peer pressure? The hardest thing is setting yourself up for success and then someone offers you some CHEX MIX or something and you just can't say no because you like Chex Mix and also you don't want to feel like a loser saying no, you don't eat junk like that or no thanks, you have a mango for lunch. Also, my weakness is salty foods around 3pm.
