One of the best reaction on this performance. You really got what Hua wanted to emit. You pointed out many aspects of his music philosophy, especially about the vocals not being perfect. That it's more about emitting emotions. Ironically he knows how to use his vocals in so many ways to make you feel his state of mind. That's what separates Hua from others. Btw, hope you find the eng sub to this and his preperformance interview. You will be more impressed. he knows exactly how to use his voice to create an etherial sounds in his performances. Hua has so many songs that you can't just pick a few. Any performances he does from the Next, to Ace vs Ace (which is more relaxed performances, but more character and animated songs) and Singers, and many other shows. One of his special performance from the show the Next is Dad I'm home - must have eng Sub, Hua puts his style - may need Kleenex for this one. More light hearted performance is from Singer 2020 Wild Contra. His duets Nanping Bell and Perhaps love are also great at showing his versatilities.
The cries of a soul crushed.....The screams of a soul murdered.........destroyed.......totally broke me hearing this song......I am so happy he is now loved and OK.....
One man singing and playing the piano with just one hand (most of the time) keeps us and the studio audience on the edge of their seats. I don't think of this as a song so much as performance art. Several of HuaHua's songs are like that. As a long time fan, I have to tell you that every time you listen to him you will get something different. He certainly isn't stuck in a rut! I couldn't begin to list all of his talents they are so numerous. I'll stop now then. Just please do more of his songs. You completely got what he wanted you to get from Fake Monk. Great reaction. One piano and one man on the stage are enough to attract all your attention. You don't even want to divert your attention. He is so free to confess his inner feeling. He is the most versatile and unique artist I've never seen. He is out of routine. His performance can hit your heart directly. This is pure art. He is the real artist who deserves to respect. Hua chen yu has an amazing voice and he as versatile as fra others, he uses his voice as an instrument, somtimes alone somtimes to create å sound with the other instruments. He has so many talents, so many. But for me, what I allways comes back to ås the thing I appreciate most about him, is his ability to make me feel the music. To feel in my inner core that he is felling a story and he conveys the message like no other. One doesnt need to understand the language to receive the message, he speaks fluent emotion and music.
No matter what kind of music style and emotions. He does it fluently.

This IS actually a cover, he didn't write the original song but he has done 3 totally separate rearrangements of it! This has got to be my favorite though. You need to check out "Dad I'm Home" but make sure you have english subtitles, this is a must! You talk about different ways to express, this one is totally out of the box but sooo well done.

I love watching reactions of vocal coaches on Hua Chenyu's songs. I feel that they can appreciate his efforts more than I who know nothing much about music making. Coaches, like you, can explain what Hua is actuallt doing and the effort behind his seemingly effortless performances. So thank you again.
I especially like your view about singers who concentrate too hard on trying to have the perfect techniques only and not expressing themselves enough through the song. It's also very sad to see audiences and even fellow singers who nitpick on Hua's technique and age and whatever else they feel that his music isn't conventional. A singer may have the perfect technique but his songs can still sound 'empty'. I love Hua's songs because of the emotions I feel while listening to his singing, even if he's just doing a cover of a song. I particularly love his version of 'Us' in the Singer 2020. I think it's one of the very few songs he sang which is not his own during the whole competition. I cried throughout his entire performance. The sing has been sung by many but Hua's version is the saddest.😭
Favourite artist by far. Many people with an emotional background/childhood or who have suffered depression were all crying watching/hearing this. I saw a video of male fan crying by only talking about himself listening to HuaHua 😂😢

I totally agree with that Hua is the Van Gogh in Music. Hua is smiling and laughing in his daily life, but that is a mask. Inside, He is very painful, and he only shows his true spirit on the stage. That's why his performances are so powerful. That emotion is his true feeling.
@ Real Power. l agree most of your explanation but the last explanation l kind of disagree because he sing twice in chorus and twice he hit me right in my guts and and l say that is vocal technique that influent my feeling and for the song Dad l'm Home actually its a rap song, written and sing by Jay Chou but Hue Chenyu turn into the saddest song on earth. That show how his performant effect everyone that listen to his song (including me). Only him that change my view on rapping song. l'm over 50 years old and l only have 1 fan club....its his. Anyway if you like to know his childhood listen to his own trilogy songs which he perform on live concert which l believe its Mars Concert in 2018 :

The story of this is as follows:
His parents split when he was 2 years old i believe and his father was “too busy” to look after him and Chenyu was so adament on chasing the love of his parents. In the end he resorted to music, wanting to chase love but also being afraid of the pain that it brings.
What a masterpiece
Hua Chenyu or Hua Hua ' little flower' in Mandarin was a neglected child his mom left and his Dad left him alone starting at the age of 2 he became so anti social he almost forgot how to communicate.... through this song was his way of saying I do have a voice and I am real hear me people .. boy did he do a good job.. the next song you should listen to is Dad Im Home but make sure you get the English subtitles although to be a purist you might not want them its the saddest song either way .. loved your reaction

Dimash is about the only one who can pull off perfection but Hua is the most versatile and creative artist out there, he also did a completely different arrangement of this song on The Next in 2013. I see the first comment has a request for Dad, I'm Home, yes do this one, watch the original first by Jay Chou, Hua was given 24 hours to rearrange the song and perform it and he literally gave one of the best performances ever.

yeah I totally agree with how it's more than music, it's really about raw emotion. i never really understood what it means when they talk about music transcends beyond vocals etc until I found his music. so many artists focus so much on vocal quality at the cost of emotion, it's a pity

you're so right about the pleasing parents thing. as an asian, i agree many of us are taught to be obeying the elders instead of expressing ourselves. ofc not everyone is like that but most of us are. and yes, our parents do expect us to be perfect. we are also almost constantly being compared and judged. it does make us insecure. i'm consider quite lucky, my parents dont really hear me out but they do give me freedom to choose my own path etc. they didnt compare me much with any other kids too, but seriously the obeying thing just because u're older has to stop

Because of your love for Huahua I would very much like your advice because I am trying to get the channel 'The Charismatic Voice' to react to HuaHua and have suggested Fake Monk a few times. She used to be an opera singer and knows a lot about singing and I am not sure if Fake Monk is the song to start with because it may be too 'different' but that is also its strength. I am persistent enough that I am convinced she will react to him but the goal is to make her fall in love with him :)

Slight irony is that this is a cover that he rearranged. He sang this with a series of other songs to tell a full story of his mental development. However, I COMPLETELY agree that he totally made this song his in this version and it's absolutely beautiful and artistic. His other skills are just barely showcased here, but in every. single. one. you feel the abundance of emotion and control. MARTIANS!!!

I somehow agree with what you said about not necessarily just focus on the singing profession but try to react to one song from Zhen Shen's performance which also a lot of people said that it was a very dark style too and then please tell me are you still stand on your point about what you said of your opinion on your video. The song called 'Ring the doorbell and listen by myself'. This song was composed 10 years ago from Mr. Guo who is one of a famous composer in China and he already has forgotten that song. When Mr. Guo helping Zhen Shen made his first album and also Mr. Guo invested in Zhen Shen from his own pocket. Mr. Guo only helped 2 artists before in his life and Zhen Shen is the 3rd one. He wants to give that song to Zhen Shen but at that time, Zhen Shen can not deliver the right feelings, and after Mr.Guo found 3 very famous female singers to tried but also failed. Because of 'The Singer 2020' show, Zhen Shen asked Mr. Guo to give him another try and finally got approved. Mr. Guo in an interview said that he can't believe an artist can improve so quickly in those 5 years. You should know what Zhen Shen's style by now, you can call very white for example but in this song, he is very dark in a very good way. I agreed Hua Hua is a very talented and very good singer but I felt a lot of anger from his singing and I also felt he yelled way too much on nearly all his performances even he sings them with his own feelings just like the song you are reacting on this video. Please don't get me wrong, I also like this performance you are reacting 'Fake monk' which is very unique. He had a couple of songs on 'The Singer show 2020' which are talked about peace and all the good things in the world but the way he performed, I don't feel peace on them. I know he tried to give positive energy to the audiences but do you think it should be comfortable to listen about that kind of subject which can bring a more peaceful feeling to us?
As an anxiety and depression person myself, I can found a peaceful feeling from Zhou Shen signing and his voice also can calm me down when I am not feeling that well because even when he belts out his vocal, they are not hurting my ears at all.
