The Unsellables - From Season 1 Episode 2 "Pastor Andrea": Pastor Andrea doesn’t know why her four-bedroom brick home isn’t selling... And she’s worried because, after five weeks, she hasn’t received a single offer. The conveniently located, family-friendly home is priced right…
In order to target the home to a growing family, Sofie devises a $3,100 plan to de-clutter the house, freshen up the kitchen, and give the main floor a lived-in, sellable look. Andrea says she’s ready for a fresh start… But can Sofie convince her to let go of her nostalgia? While Anthony and the team work their magic on the interiors, Andrea gets a crash course in real estate do’s and don’ts… And once she starts seeing results, Andrea is motivated to pull out all the stops. It’s hard work… But will the project pay off in the end?
The Unsellables - After tracking down the most unsightly and ‘unsellable’ listings on the market, The Unsellables team attempts to transform real estate lemons into lemonade. Can the fearless crew get these desperate homeowners to get smart, let go of the past, and prepare for a sale?

You’d think people who have been unsuccessful with selling their house would look at shows like this or others or magazines etc , to get ideas for what they should do to freshen things up.
My parents house was built in the 1960’s. Every room was a different color… before my dad put it on the market to sell, we repainted all the rooms, took down old wallpaper and several other cosmetic things. It sold in less than 2 weeks.

These episodes are at least 20 years old and I wish RUclips would be more transparent about when they originally aired. None of the prices are anywhere near current. Also this is Toronto circa 2005.

That small window place up high on the back wall of an alcove is a piano window. Alcoves like that were built into house for generations specifically to hold the piano every financially comfortable middle-class family owned to proclaim their status. However, even after the popularity of the upright piano waned, the alcoves were still handy for placing tall china cabinets or other large display pieces like breakfronts or tallboys. That's why they still exist in some more modern homes.

I have never warmed up to the trend of centering hardware/pulls/handles on cabinets and cupboards😟. Both Pastor Andrea's kitchen, and the comp house's kitchen, had that unattractive aesthetic. Happy to see Anthony end that trend🙂.

I don't even understand _why_ (oh Lord why 😭) you would center the handles on the cabinet doors. It can't be very practical and in this kitchen it also differs from the lower cabinet doors.
As a scandinavian myself, this aestethic (both before and after) is very american. Even with the update I would imagine that this house would be hard to sell if it was on the scandi market. But on the other hand, perhaps a scandi-styled home in northern America wouldn't sell that fast either. 😅

I HATE light tiles w/ dark grout-- I won't even consider a house if it has it!

Smart-- when you paint cabinets you can fill hardware holes and put up new hardware -- in this case nearer the side each door opens!❤

That was the "Spanish" style of the late '60's. I would be complemented with earth tones of burnt orange, harvest gold and olive green. It was warm, cozy and inviting.

@pitchblackprogress1341 I think a Scandi house would sell quite quickly here - it's a popular style!
The centered cabinet pulls were trendy a long time ago - I think probably sometime in the 1960s or 70s? And I don't think it was for very long - I haven't seen too many of them, and I've lived all over the US. People who have them now have probably kept them as a period detail, or just haven't renovated. I'm pretty old,, and I've never seen those be "new."

“It’s a lot of money to fix things up!” Um, yeah. So you’re going to ask other people to spend the money on something you don’t want to deal with?

Failing to fix things ultimately comes off the asking price, so you pay anyway.

Did I understand correctly - she wants to go to all the trouble and expense of moving because no one wants to visit because it makes them sad that her mother isn't there anymore? 🤔 I wonder if anyone actually visits at their new house.

I cannot understand why it is necessary to always be coy about the location of these shows. If you watch enough of them you can deduce that they are vaguely ‘somewhere in the Toronto area’. A much clearer indication of the area would be very helpful, esp. in terms of selling prices. And while I am at it, why do these shows not BEGIN with the year the program is made? These omissions baffle and annoy me.

You are in good company Paul 😎 Jerry Kramer is a former pro football player with an impressive 11-year career as an offensive lineman for the NFL’s famous Green Bay Packers. During his 6th year in the league, he endured nine intestinal surgeries, including a colostomy - after his bag was fitted he returned to play four more seasons for the Packers post-surgery. Today, he’s among the few celebrities with a stoma bag inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Just curious, What comment are you responding to? Or are you responding to a commercial? I am a former ostomate. I had 5 surgeries in 4 years. Initially I had emergency surgery bc of sepsis due to ischemic colitis. I was reversed in November 2021 as my ostomy was failing & I developed terrible skin problems. Life is still a struggle, but I thank God I’m alive!
