IMO, the living/dining was awkward with the cut-out wall. I'm not sure if that could be removed, but it certainly made a possibly spacious area feel tight.
"It's not really our Style..."....this house sold in 6 days" ...."6 days!?!?"....when ppl think low of other taste...and then it is their own that is bad🤣🙈😂 Love the transformation here. So much better than all the red👍🏻♥️
With one quick look you can see that the paint inside is enough to put off all buyers. Gorgeous house but they need an interior designer for the next one.
The before house looks like it was painted by the Joker. And if they spent all that money on kitchen “upgrades,” how come the refrigerator opens the wrong way?
After watching just 15 seconds I thought, it's the paint. Neutralize the colors. Red makes people energized, that is why fast food place interiors are often red. It makes ppl eat more quickly to vacate tables for more people. To paint a room red means people will not be able to relax and spend time there. This is basic color theory and it is amazing how few people understand it. Pistachio and grape and red? No wonder ppl turn away and run. NEUTRALIZE your wall colors prior to putting a house up for sale, or do it when you move in to avoid having to repaint prior to selling. Otherwise a lovely home but few ppl want to put out $3000 to have a house interior painted before they even move in, so do it prior to putting up your home for sale and that way you sell more quickly and minimize your angst when it takes months to sell. Otherwise, put a clause in the sales agreement that the sellers provide a painting allowance and take that off the purchase price. This is often done for carpeting too. You can either spend the money and paint or have the cost deducted from your asking price.
@@thehungrygoldfish Well, we're not 'out in the sticks', and fortunately, our homes aren't this close together. That's VERY disturbing! I'd feel clostraphobic living in one of these homes! My Gosh, there's barely any walking space between those homes! And, you could probably hear the neighbors arguing in the next house! 😩
I once rented an apartment and had to paint, as the colors made we want to slash my wrists. I painted all the rooms cream with white trim. Previously, two rooms were painted orange and two were turquoise with all the trim painted a band aid pink. I usually avoid painting but this hideous color scheme was too much to bear. My house is painted soft colors, not screaming loud ones that would make the eyeballs bleed. It was news to this couple that their colors are unbearable and they were so surprised. 😅
Honestly, if they had removed 80% of their life clutter, it probably would have sold, regardless of the colours. Watching them walk around to avoid it was telling.
40 years ago I bought a house that was lovely until you got to the added porch off the bathroom. A small bedroom had been added and painted neon orange. I had a teenager that fell in love. Must have happened to them too.
I think the couple is going to paint their new house the same outrageous colors, If they do they need to complement those colors with modern functional furniture. The weight room needs to go in the basement.
I hate the holes in the wall in the sitting room. Sitting rooms are supposed to be relaxing, but you can't have that with the holes there and why the garden furniture inside the house? Strange.
I think it all depends on your family and your lifestyle. We have six kids, and we love having people over. We have a living room, a family room, a bonus room, a dining room, and an eat in kitchen. We very specifically looked for a house with all that, and we use all those spaces. My sister in law has two kids and had her house built to be open concept with over large space to serve all those functions, and she regrets it.
Spanish people love color & tend to paint their houses inside & out a mismatch of bright colors that are overwhelming to others. Then this couple doesn’t understand why their house didn’t sell. Potential buyers want a move in ready house Not a house that the walls have to be primed to tone down the color to be able to paint
If your lot is tiny in a jam-packed development, you have to have most of the front of your house as garage. Just a bit more room and you can have the garage on the side instead.
It's livable now! Kudos! I did feel the very bright pocket doors over the fireplace in white competed with the fireplace. Just sayin'. 🤔 Why don't you show it being sold?
Pops of color are great- but Every wall is painted like an accent wall. The accent effect gets lost when Every wall in the house competes with the next.
Don't like the colours after in the downstairs area, the kitchen is too narrow, the new sitting room feels out of place, the big holes in the wall in the new dining room are horrid. The outlay of the down stairs is wrong. 😝
After watching the video for the first minute, my initial thought was that there were too many different and obnoxious colors. The whole house needs to be painted, and that takes a lot of time, or if you hire someone, a lot of money. Also the kitchen is tiny, and the home's layout is poor. And, where is the landscaping? If their real estate agent wasn't so clueless, she should have pointed these things out to the homeowners. These people have very bad taste.
As far as I see it, if I liked the house's bones...all I'd need to do is paint every room. I'd want a reduced price. That's a lot of paint and quality paint ain't cheap.
The after is almost as horrible as the before. They should have removed that weird living room wall and painted everything except the kitchen white. It STILL looks weirdly painted, very dark, and the rooms look unwelcoming. The master bedroom has no headboard. Just the worst episode from this great show.
Repainted was a must, but I do not like the 3 openings in the living/ dining room wall. White trim then looking out to wood stained stairs and railings is off- putting for me, as is the dark furniture.
Chances are that it’s structural and there are outlets and light switches on that wall so there’s electricity which means wiring that’s needs to be removed and it needs to be moved elsewhere, so it’s minimum 5k to 10k to remove and reinforce it and that’s not including the electrical costs! That’s a lot of money to pay when you’re selling that you will not get back. And it’s not the type of work they usually do with the makeovers. And it’s higher than their typical budget of 3 to 4k.
Aren't you going to come in and change everything anyway. These are the colors they choose. They are taking everything but walls anyway. I would say drop the price a little I have to get a painter..
Funny how she points out what is wrong with homes, but not what she is wearing. Dress is a bit too tight around the mid region there dear. No one cares to see belly buttons
The houses look very old fashioned seen from Denmark. The walls have such dull Color’s before and after renovating. Don’t you have an IKEA over there for inspiration. And fill the houses with a mixture of IKEA, Scandinavian, Italian and may be Japanese design.
After reading comments am glad I am not only one who thought after colors almost as bad as before. Too dark. A light gray, sage green or variations of off white and beige would be better. Still HATE the layout. People need to remember if they are putting a lot of personal preferences into building they better be prepared to remodel. No children?? Why such a big space which they proceeded to chunk up into small spaces?? BIGGER fewer bedrooms would have helped. The gym room better as an office. They seem they would be better in an industrial type loft in a Soho type area or an artsy area where everyone goes wild with colors etc. T h at retaining wall? Wow. Some DIY is better left to experienced handyman.

Remember that this was a long time ago 😂 Decor styles have definitely changed ❤
I was hoping that they would have removed that dividing wall from the entry to the sitting room. Am I the only one?
Oh I hated it, I thought for sure she'd say to remove it.
It was an awful and useless wall
If I bought the house I would do that, but I don’t think it was worth it financially for a house you are selling
I immediately thought the colours were the problem.
Oh yeah, a buyer would say, too much painting to do
Its not the colours. Its the owners who used them.
No taste and no money, that's the vibe I got and she was very polite
Way in over their heads.
How could you not realize the colors might be a bit of a problem
And...the knight in shining armor... Anthony, just love his character 👌✨❣️🙏 Thank you for sharing.
They should title this series, “Paint Everything Green.”
The Green lady
But they paint everything brown.
She's a one pony show that way.
I liked the colors in the living room. That aubergine and the lime green are a great combination!
I really liked the green/purple combo as well as the niche over the fireplace 🤷♀️
The before house looks like it was painted by the Joker. And if they spent all that money on kitchen “upgrades,” how come the refrigerator opens the wrong way?
That’s hillarious & so true!
Those colors,. 😱
I wonder how many people decide the transformation is so great they don't sell? 🥳
Omg those colors...
First upgrade I actually like that Sophie did. Anthony love the doors on the cabinet.
I'm only 1:13 through this video, and I already have one idea why this house isn't selling. 😆
I kinda hate the after colors too.
I love the colors, but neutral sells.
All of those colors makes it look like Sherwin Williams threw up.
See what the proper paint colors can do. Love the transformation

Wow, those houses are CLOSE together!
Toronto's outer suburbs are absolutely covered in these ugly garages with houses attached. They are everywhere. What a shame.
Most homes are close together unless you’re out in the sticks.
Hence the front facing garage

@@Cali_Girl1 Ok, you’re in the suburbs then. You’re not in a congested city like these people.

Love the changes and visually they add value to the house.
Now the house has too much tan & brown. I would have painted it all cream with white trim to appeal to the most buyers
Honestly, if they had removed 80% of their life clutter, it probably would have sold, regardless of the colours.

I like colours, but there were just too many. and rooms need to have a function.
I have never understood the need for more than one dining area and one living room area… just seems like a lot of extra areas to clean to me.
We have three living areas and a dining room plus eat-in kitchen, and we love it. Maybe it’s not a “need,” but we love the house.
Living areas are different than the limited 'formal' living room space of the past. 💌
I think it all depends on your family and your lifestyle. We have six kids, and we love having people over. We have a living room, a family room, a bonus room, a dining room, and an eat in kitchen. If you could afford a very big house you would afford a cleaner.
You do not tell us the details that after how many days the house got sold and weather the got the price they wanted ???????????

Few things worse than looking at a home and seeing nothing but garage. Why is this a thing? Huge turnoff.
I agree. All the Canadian subdivisions seem to have the garage sticking out. Really ugly.
If your lot is tiny in a jam-packed development, you have to have most of the front of your house as garage. Just a bit more room and you can have the garage on the side instead.
More neutral colors, please! But there needs to be some variation. It can't all be beige.
Use color in your decor pieces
It used to be all beige. Now it is all athrazit. I do not like any of them
New paint colors seem muddy and drab.
This had to have been filmed in the 90s, right? The oak colored stair banister, the black leather couches, the box tvs…not to mention the COLORS. Lmao
Looks early 2000s to me, pre- 2010. The hair and clothing styles are big clues too 😆
I'm a home stager for selling houses. Loved it. But a lot of people were not on board. Whatever, u want to sell right?????
extreme makeover
omg. so much better. the colours catered only to very few coz it looks tacky. didn't like their taste.
3 words - too much red
The colors at first look.
So 2000!
Their colors were too diverse. Her colors are too brown.
No, noooooo, leave the wall mirror. It makes the room look bigger.
It's livable now! Kudos! I did feel the very bright pocket doors over the fireplace in white competed with the fireplace. Just sayin'. 🤔 Why don't you show it being sold?
A few seconds in & I can see all the different colors on every wall as something that would turn off potential buyers. Let's see how this turns out...
Two living dining areas next to each other and a kitchen from the 80s? Terrible layout.
Not a bad house. I would like shelves in the open squares are the living room.
I see belly buttons, through those light cream colored dresses.
The “army green” paint needed to go as well.
I think it'd be even better if they'd have made the stair bannister and kitchen cabinetry white. But it's very nice, nevertheless.
Yep, I agree. Honey oak is right up there with vomit.
Judging by the tv, looks like this episode was filmed 20 years ago, Or people in Canada just like old TVs
Pops of color are great- but Every wall is painted like an accent wall. The accent effect gets lost when Every wall in the house competes with the next.

Non congruent color scheme, looks dated actually rather than new.
What about the basement
First thing I saw was the loud colours, next thing who has a big house with a old garden set for a dinning room.
Purple and red-- ugh!!
Why do they always blur out the artwork?
Did it sell finally
Ok paint it but why did they paint the house such ugly colours? It looks dirty now. Why not cream?
I personally like their choices of colors but most people prefer neutral tones. White is boring but very safe choice
After watching the video for the first minute, my initial thought was that there were too many different and obnoxious colors. seen
Why don't they show the bathrooms
To personalized. Whoever buys that house will have to paint everything. So people get turned of
I do tend to agree-not the greatest makeover 😳

Looks like decor u would have done after HS.

Belly button SHOWING!!
Nasty colors!
I can't believe how ugly was the house before
Handsome couple! Colours are too bold! Tiring to look at.
Backyard looks like a cattle stockyard with no privacy!
Jack is one of the hottest men I've seen in this series.
This show was filmed a long time ago and it looks very dated now, churning out these old series doesn’t work, we’ve all moved on.
Trop de marron ! Trop sombre !
Paint that awful honey oak stair railing, so dated and just ugly.
It's a horrible house... I'm sorry to say it.
W.T.F!!??? My god bad taste is a kind way to say it.
Hideous house, hideous generic suburb. Exceptionally awful taste.
